I've had 4 that I got last year for Christmas, just opened my first one a few minutes ago, then googled it and saw your vid. Nice timing, definitely a fun pick for sure I love the American lock series.
I've got a couple of rebranded pucks like this that my roommate brought home from work because they were tossing them out due to them just collecting dust on a shelf for years. Same American core and never used. I was quite disappointed in their security because I can easily open them using a standard BOK wiper wrench and a triple peak by _jiggling_ the pick. They open for me in under 10 seconds.
@@LockNoob lol..true!! I'm a locksmith for a living, what you see as fun I see as WORK. That's why I'm looking for fastest way to achieve goal! Good job those are a little tricky to pick.
i've had rebuilding and gutting disasters because of those holes, but they do allow you to make challenge locks out of them, threading the bible and maybe a little undercutting.not sure how well the mini kik will take regular pins but i have the means to find out ;)
I have a puck lock I've been thinking about gutting, but it has the split pins too. Glad I'm not the only one to be hesitant. On another note, just got a shipment in from Sparrows. Picked up the Monkey's Paw you designed for them. Nice piece of kit. It's amazing how such small differences in design can lead to such big differences in functionality.
I don’t know if it’s the best way or even a good idea, but I gut this type of lock by using the key, and turning the plug 180 so the keypins can be taken out through the bottom. Yes reassembly is difficult, but not impossible... if you have the key.
it might be a problem to get the driver pins without mashing the springs after removal of the key pins from the core, except the springs are short and do not reach the core
It looks in good condition, but the chrome finish looks terrible looks like it was rough before it was plated. But a nice lock for locksport. Hope everyone well and safe.
Nice quick pick on a tough lock sir! Wonder if it's susceptible to comb picking? LPL was having some luck comb picking a bunch of similar puck locks. Thanks for the video sir 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job! Curious to how much grief those split pins would be to reinstall? They look very similar to watch band pins but larger. Watch band pins usually aren't too bad. Depends on how brave you feel I guess. Cheers!
those split pins tend to expand when removed, so they need to be compressed before insertion, with a pair of pliers for example. probably some metal plate with a chamfered hole with a slightly smaller diameter than the hole where the pin goes in could help. while hammering the pin back in it should compress the pin enough. if the pin itself would have a "ramp" on the end, it would also help :)
Gutted not to be able to see in it. Although I do understand not wanting to faff with those split pins. Heat bargain and nicely picked. 🤔 it's gonna have maybe 3 spools at a guess. Just a wild stab in the dark.
Who doesn’t like to pick American Locks? 🤷♂️ They are awesome and a ‘must pick’ for any lock picker! 🔐👍😃
Awesome picking! Thanks Ash. 🙂👍
Thanks 🙏
Cool heavy lock!!!
Nice quick pick!
Greasy 😬
Stay safe!
🐾🐈⬛🐈🐾😷🇬🇧👏👏👏
Thanks friend!
I'm brand new to this and I was able to city rake that lock so easily
If the bitting permits, why not
@@LockNoob so far I've been able to use that on every lock I have done
great picking!
Thanks 🙏

Comb picks open LOTS of these very quickly!
Very true, but there isn’t quite the same joy to comb picking

Puck yeah!
Lol
Nice job. I love picking Americans (but never pick the puck lock).
Great locks!
Nicely picked Ash. Oilier than a fish fryers apron that core .😂👍
Lol
If you put the key in and turn 180 degrees everything comes out those holes in the bottom of the body, thats how they load it at the factory !
Well, they key pins at least

Nice ...have u pocked it with a lishi? Alot of times these puck locks are mounted in a way access to picking it tricky
Not yet!

Awesome feedback, thanks!
Nicely picked where did you buy that vice from
It’s a Panavise 350
Does this lock use the sfic ?

It is with a thin enough comb
@@LockNoob I have the sparrows comb pick set and try as I might, not one of the 4-2000's were able to opened with a comb.
Err, if one manages to revove the screw woulnd´t he be able to remove the entire core? Just wondering...
Not without unlocking it

Sorry for the lack of gutting in this, but it probably wasn’t overall worth the effort I hazard
@@LockNoob Haaaa you are probably correct 🙂👍🏻
I don't think it's made out of hardened steel but zinc
