I say this all the time, I agree with you. I commute daily and it’s way more to it. Some commuters are disrespectful when it comes to paying their fare, they want to argue with the drivers and delay the bus. I’ve seen it so many times. Midtown bus and 21 express is 98% always on time. When the 20 or 20X will delay it’s usually rush hour traffic, morning, afternoon and evening.
To be honest the lateness is not actually true on the 20X, BM 4 to midtown or 21 route. If they are late it’s like 6 to 10 mins and I ride the bus plus I have my personal car. However they do need to have Omni pay on the bus, as it’s very hard to access a metro-card reload without going into the BRONX or at a train station, with that I agree. Another issue whether it’s FREE or NOT A-LOT of these residents/commuters including (school kids) REFUSE to pay, and they argue with drivers on a day to day basis causing delays. The problem is NOT only on the drivers but the commuters themselves. It’s nothing new for the commuters to walk past the drivers without even asking for a ride because they feel like they’re ENTITLED. No respect!! I could go on and on. Bottom line the bus has to run, drivers have to get paid, commuters need to be at their destination on time…… COMPLY and 🛑 COMPLAINING it’s that’s simple. No one wants to do their job and be disrespected, because if the tables were reversed they would feel the same way. Again 🛑 Complaining and Comply!
WHO GIVES A SH*T what the riders race is or if they are poor. The point is, people are waiting for the bus and the bus is late. Fix the lateness and the bitching stops.
What more do they want if every summer the buses are free, on the other hand there is a TRANSIT application that tells you in real time where the bus is and also the schedules, will everything be free? Let them leave earlier or take photos of the schedules and stop being lazy people who want everything for free.
Free bus and they still complain? Who is paying for the drivers? Bus maintenance? Fuel? Someone has to pay for "free" bus service.
