Hi Harry, fellow golf pro and actual Pga pro here, thought i would give my two cents. Went down a similar route to you this year in terms of trying to open up massively with the body at impact, turning and swinging left, holding off the face, favouring a fade etc, safe to say turned into an absolute disaster and started hitting these huge snap hooks left or blocks right like you are in the last few vids, cost me most of this season results wise. Have just started to gain a modicum of consistency by scrapping that and going back to my old swing of a little draw and just focusing on hitting it fairly straight and out the middle. Hopefully your work with Rich will point you down the right track. Love the vids, keep a positive attitude and create your own reality. Anything is possible. Hope to see you on tour in the future !
Great comment ! I expect there's quite a few pros and former pros (like myself) watching Harry that can relate to what he's going through in terms of the ups and downs (many many downs!). I too went through this swing change, actually just before I was pro, it was reasonable as a small change, but found under pressure it became too much of a muscle memory crutch, I wasn't swinging the club anymore and just relying on the lag in an attempt to make the game easier..before you know, it's got too extreme. After turning pro, I went the other way, doing everything to keep the club in front of me and went too far the other way! Lesson being, the middle ground is almost always better, solid fundamentals and fewest moving angles as possible.. it took 10 years or so out of the game for me to reach my own personal clarity about the technicalities, and actually, how to learn things in general. When you're in the middle of the game, it can be very hard to take the time needed to allow the fog to clear, very few have that luxury...hopefully Rich (or whoever is coaching you) can impart that to you Harry. Love the video again Harry, keep on..
Thank you for the positive comment mate its really appreciated. Yeah I think the goal and I think this goes without saying... Shallow it out and start feeling those natural small draws again. That being said, I would like to keep impact position as best I can (Keeping it squarer for longer and not flipping) Just going to be a case of finding a happy medium. Thanks again for the relatable comment. Get allot of people commenting on here who are absolutely clueless and think that I've never been through the motions of ups and downs in golf. Just want to get the message across to people that golf is a game of years its a game of decades.
I feel we are witnessing a live breakdown every video I watch recently! Start enjoying yourself again as it's just getting a little serious... Fun vlogs is what has always made people watch HFG
It will also probably be overlooked, but that swing @9:13 is honestly one of the best you have made recently. Everything about that swing, especially considering the lie, looked perfect, and the result reflected it. Despite the score I honestly think this video has some of your better swings in it overall which is encouraging!
Thank you for the positive feed back bud. The swing at 9:13 was 100% the best swing. Was because the lie forced me to hit up on the ball more (Less Steep) encouraging a better swing, the swing i should be making
You also had to keep your legs quiet, otherwise they'd pull you off the ball which you can't afford with a lie like that. Start making more (or all!) of your swings look like that and you'll be back under par guaranteed.
Lovely smooth swing there @3:58, @8:38, and @10:00, especially that second one, pure tempo there. Compare that to how much faster and snappier your legs were with the shot @12:48. I always found that my hands would do what yours did in that second shot follow through when I made a relaxed, non-forced swing. Just smoothly finishing at the top without too much whipping or recoil, very Tiger Woods circa 2006. If i'm ever striking it poorly I try to focus on getting to that position which normally required a conscious effort to just let the hands fall to start the downswing and not accelerate so hard. I'd love to see more relaxed swings like those! They are a very good sign I think especially given the misfires from earlier.
I think you say too much negative stuff on the course, I know it’s hard when you’re going through a tough time, but by just not saying them subconsciously gives you a more positive mind set and thus more confidence in hitting shots, great vids buddy, notifications are on for every new one!!
I assume that for the sake of filming you do not replace divots? just a suggestion, i dont see any youtube golfers replace divot, it may be a good idea to do this to encourage younger players who watch these vlogs to do these things correctly.
Was that a bear at 6:34 or your stomach? Also, been subscribed for awhile now. Enjoy the videos. I don’t think you need to slow your swing down, just finish the back swing.
Hi Harry, just watched the show!??!! Im just a ploddy amateur but my mindset is always disciplined ……...Fairway, Green in reg, will always give me a look at birdies, worst scenario 2 putt par, Yes it doesn't happen like that but the good rounds Ive had have always been constructed through hitting greens in reg and having a look at Birdies , makes life easier, so find the fairway, find the green and then find the hole, I know, it sounds ridiculously simple, but then good golf is boring , monotonous and repetitive, Best of luck tomorrow, play the game , be consequent and driven!! Be egotistical and target orientated, its only that attitude that wins at the top level, want to be successful, then be single minded and arrogant, make your round a goodone and don't accept anything but good or better!!! C ya mate! by the way, im not joking Harry, don't accept anything but top quality golf!!
Your divots are massive ha I'm assuming the soft ground didn't help. I enjoy hearing your thoughts behind the shots like where you want it to go or the layout of what's up ahead but I don't like hearing you thinking about swings thoughts on the course. That's for the range man. You've worked on it there. Just pick your spot and hit it already. The ol Dr Bob Rotella formula. "Look at the Target, look at the ball and swing". Your body will do what you want it to. Also, don't listen to anyone who tells you to slow your swing down. Everyone has their tempo and some are faster than others. As soon as you try to slow it down you'll lose your rhythm. When you have such high club head speeds you have to be even more accurate (I suffer from a similar problem) ana your road will be longer. But once you develop more accuracy with the higher speeds you'll blow people away because it will become your greatest advantage. All the best players in the world have monster speeds and distance. Then if you need to hit a slower shot it'll feel slow to you but you'll be faster than most and more accurate. A lethal combination. Keep it up
Scrambling is quite impressive. I think you probably noticed the swing issues editing the video: very steep and quick tempo. In my opinion, the steep angle of attack is coming from trying to force the cut. You've always naturally drew the ball, moving so far away from your natural shot seems very counterproductive to me. The tempo can be solved by trying to match your full swing tempo to your putting tempo, because your putting tempo is spot on.
Ur long game ur body looks so quick so ur timing needs to be spot on and on the range u obv get into a rhythm that’s why it harder on course when u stop start slow that down like ur wedges good luck Tomorrow 💐
It's counter tuative tho ain't it you know your hitting steep you try and shallow out ... yet what happens? Your more steep lol so by this you need to think steep or steeper on the backswing then your downswing should counter that and be more shallow. Your close keep at it
Anyone feel that harry's club face is now super shut? Shut at the top, hips spin so early and violently from there - recipe for long game yips. This is just an opinion btw, don't rape me comments.
Not sure what is going on. Lots of uneven terrain which means a lot of difficult stance / lie variables. Are you playing a stock shape and then hitting a draw or fade when the course layout demands or are you mixing it up on every shot. The latter is nigh on impossible to do. You aren’t in control of the golf ball. I still think that you are trying to hit the ball too hard on every shot. Reign it in but take an extra club and hit it at 80%. I think this has to be your new strategy going into the open qualifying. I think your divots are too big. Look at the last, down hill lie and a monster divot. The outcome from that range was poor. Your swing should be rewarded with better scores and if you apply the above and play within yourself you should be going around in par or better on average. Don’t lose heart. Lots to learn from and time to put things right. Apologies for being so hard on you. 👍😉
i think you seriously need to take time away from youtube if you want to improve your game , it looks to me like your trying every Hollywood shot possible for the cameras , no idea what the need is to play stinger shots on a parkland course with no wind, you are clearly a good ball-sriker so no need to do this , play the simple shots , make life easy

no one does ball flight course vlogs better than HF. Bloody awesome!!
The way this is filmed and edited is spot on - getting good angles of the course combined with your on course thoughts. Top work.
Lovely camera angles harry!

Hole 17: I have absolutely no idea where the ball is going.
Hole 18: I need to play a 70 yard low rising fader.
Fuck sake Harry.
😂😂😂 Brilliant
