*The first few times* you refer to the _kappa_ as a god, you call it a _kame_ rather than a _kami._ This otherwise minor mispronunciation can create a significant misunderstanding, as _kame_ means _turtle,_ which of course this particular _kami_ resembles.
Hey, Eh (Extra history) can you tell us the story of the Megalodon? Pleaaaassseeee pretty Pwease?
"This is the oddest episode of Extra Mythology by far." - Matt.
Well, I still remember that episode about the Tio de Nadal, from Catalonia region in Spain...
Goodbye, Jordan, we're going to miss you!
As a Catalonian I could say that it makes sense in context.
It does not.
Goodbye Jordan gonna miss you
@@mesdecent8051 Hey, it's very simple. Cataloninan ancient wisdom speaks thus:
Poop = Funny
The thing is... I have known the Kappa (Creature) way before the Kappa (Meme).
I never even knew a meme existed😂😂😂
@@chheinrich8486 Then you're in better shape than I am lol!

@@chheinrich8486Me too lol

When I order sushi, the cucumber roll is often called a Kappa roll or Kappamaki. I just connected the dots!
Now I want some.
Butt roll
It is same with Inarizushi, which got its name due to the tofu being the favorite food of fox incarnation of Goddess Inari
"Why is that Kappa haunting our family?"
"I am sorry. I went to close to the water and only had my farts to deter it."
Thank you, Jordan. Your work has been absolutely fantastic, and each of us wishes the best for you in your future endeavors.
Thanks Jordan for the work, good luck with your future endeavors.
I learnt about the butt soul-stealing from the 3D TMNT show, still hard to believe they didn’t just make it up
And I know understand what the inspiration for the Koopas in the Mario games comes from...
Thank you Jordan! You really got a great myth as your final assignment 😄
can I just say I've been watching this channel since the beginning and I love your content. From the wendigo, to the pirate queen, Genghis Khan, and the seminal tragedy, and Joan of Arc. For almost as long as I remember this channel and extra history has made me who I am, and its been wonderful learning so much, I have a friend that a while ago was talking about high school, and at the time I was still in middle school (A couple years are between us) and he said the stuff I learned from this channel was stuff they hadn't even learned yet. Back then I couldn't subscribe or like because none of us made an account. Then I got a laptop and I was happy to see the channel thriving. I'm now a huge history buff and have you guys to thank. Also, I love D&D so when I saw all that kind of stuff on your channel I got excited, so that's just more to love.
Thank you for all the amazing memories, can't wait for the next episode!
Thanks so much for hanging out with us! It means a lot to have somone around with such a history with the channel
Saranzanmai was the first instance where I learned about kappa. That was weird but the anime is still great. Highly recommend it.
I love that anime!
The Sirikodama reminds me of those invisible jewels Japanese Dragons carry. It makes me wonder if there's a connection. I like the idea that a Kappa is one of the "child" forms of a Dragon, building its power by collecting butt balls. Wouldn't be the only yokai/kami that can Digivolve.
Wishing Jordan the best with his future endeavors, especially if they involve PYRAMIDS!!!!
Thank to Jordan and to all of the team for the great work!
Kappa and Tengu are interesting to learn about. Folklore of any culture is great, though they are a product of their times, they can be adapted to modern stories without directly referencing certain peoples or traditions.

So this is where Walkappa's design and Water typing comes from.
I appreciate the illustrations, they tied this show up really well
Jordan!! Love and miss you!!!
Extra History has been some of my favorites of all time on RUclips and no small part of that is from all the *really* fun illustrations!
These midweek videos are AWESOME! You guys are the Best 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
We need more extra mythology
Thank you Jordan, and all the rest of the team, for your excellent work !
I absolutely adore this great channel.Believe it or not,but in Japan there were ceremonies offering cucumbers to these creatures. There is also a food named after them,a cucumber sushi roll is called a kappamaki.
Wow I had no idea the Kappa myths were this elaborate. I only knew about them drowning kids.
Good luck Jordan.
Thank you Jordan for the cool visually videos !!!! Wish the best in your future projects!
The kappa remind me of lombre from pokemon. If I had to guess, it's probably inspired by these stories.
I think it is?
Lotad line is based of the Kappa, while Seedot line is based of Tengu from Japanese folklore :0
Oh, I just love the story about the Kappa it one of favorites Japanese folktales ❤😊
Tell the story of Arminius next please.
Yes!
I would be happy
My uncle is named after him „Armin“.
The Varus battle happened near a forest i live in.
Oh Jakob Fugger there is still a museum in Augsburg about him.
Run by his descendants.
Thank you very much for all your contributions to this channel, Jordan. I wish you the absolute best of luck in all your future endeavors.
2:50 hes just standing there.....MENACINGLY
1:13-1:14 "a plate-shaped deppresion" i genuinly thought he meant the kappa had a habbit of eating when it was sad lol 🤣
I first learned about Kappa in - of all things - the Fighting Fantasy novels, specifically Sword of the Samurai, which I believe was book #20.
Congratulations, Jordan! Best of luck to you!
