The Gorbals in 1975

These are photographs taken by G.E.R.R.Y. in 1975. Much of the Gorbals was demolished as people were moved out from the Gorbals tenements to "the schemes" like Drumchapel, Castlemilk, East Kilbride, and Cumbernauld. Many of the beautiful buildings in the photographs were ungraciously removed regardless of their beauty, their history, or their emotional significance.
