You win M1 G1 if you just wasteland their land the turn before the Goyf I don't understand why you didn't. You still get to untap the monolith not using the WL mana.
I honestly didn't have the goyf on my radar at all. I had no idea that card was seeing play (I haven't kept up on red stompy lists lately) and just forgot it existed at all until it hit the stack and didn't think trying to restrict their mana really mattered at that point. I also don't think it would have changed anything, they still had the goblin to be able to produce the 4th mana even if I had wasted them off the land the prior turn. It would have been the optimal line for sure and was a mistake on my part, but I don't think it changed the outcome of the match since they would have been able to hit 4 mana and play the goyf regardless.
@@dassourkraut Yea I didn't have that goyf on any radar either. I just don't see a reason to not cut them off mana is what I mean since all big red cares about is 3 mana spells. So cutting them to two mana is huge.
@@dassourkraut yea 100% Please don't take my comment as rudeness not meant to be. Legacy is the only format i've played continually since 2010. Best advice I can give is always try to make the optimal play in a "vacumm" so to speak.
No, I appreciate it! Just laying out my own logic for the sake of discussion. I'm always wanting to get feed back and get better, I know I'm not the best player and I can always improve. I've also come to find that "streamer brain" is a thing, even just recording videos and there are definitely things I miss while trying to focus on narrating

For sure, it was definitely a miss play on my part and I should have done it, even if in the end it didn't change the outcome.
