I have been enjoying the Spanish season 4 story line with Rory Maria and Alejandro
I really enjoy the little side bits that you and Carmen divert to. Genial👏👏

Native Catalan speaker. I started listening to your CB* podcasts as a way to keep my English and to learn a new language at the same time. I started with CB French as I had previously developed some skills - Girona is pretty close from France - ; then I naturally moved to CB Italian as it's very accessible for a bilingual Catalan/ Spanish speaker with a decent level of francais. Adesso parlo e lavoro occasionalmente in italiano. È ottimo per il mio lavoro. More recently, I took on with German and I was both very surprised and glad to see that it has got some really strong links with English indeed. If one has a rather good English level, approach to German shouldn't be that dramatic. Always my CB* podcast before going to sleep, together with some Duolingo exercises (with English as the base language) and some Euronews reading in any of the above (Italiano, français or Deutsch). It's a great great task the one you're doing for language learning and I admire you for that, Mark. With all my respect and gratitude, congratulations. Visca Escocia !!

One experimentation I do is to put all my Google environment (email, calendar, etc) in the language I am learning, since I already know how to say those terms in English and my native language.
This way you never lose touch with the language you're learning throughout the day :)

My ongoing experiments in German are GPS navigation and answering unknown phone numbers in German. The GPS gives me great reminders on word order and, of course, directions. And the bonus for answering the phone in German? Most telemarketers take you off their lists if you don’t speak English or Spanish in the States!

Mark! Good to see you back after last week’s hiatus. These updates really help with trying to thread my way through Coffee Break’s miles of content. Looking forward to Italian Episode 20 😊

I set Siri to French and asked a random question to practice my French. Her response? Est-ce que vous êtes ivres?? (Are you drunk). Followed by: Je ne suis pas votre chauffeur-appelez un taxi! (I’m not your driver. Call a taxi!) I was sitting in my living room at the time. French Siri is tough!

I try to have mini conversations in my head or will randomly say a sentence and wonder if that is right or not, sometimes autocorrect myself and hope I have said it correctly. I currently don't have a system for learning I watch QVC Italia and listen to the radio. Reading is still hard for me as I get tired easily. Speaking is ok but I don't have anyone to speak with one to one as such. I always pick up Italian if I'm walking around. Trying to do the CBI coffee breaks. I'm finding describing a picture quite a challenge but piano piano 🥰👍🏽 buona giornata a tutti e Mark, alla prossima ciao!
