He was like the Kpop of his time. A performer but not really a songwriter. Eminem wrote 100s of song lyrics and has even composed beats. He's a true artist. And this is coming from someone who is not really a Stan. My favorite artist of all time is Jay Chou, but I have a lot of respect for Eminem.
A true artist has more factors than writing! Composing, songwriting, singing/performing were all considered separate crafts in Elvis's era. Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Jerry LL, Jackie Wilson.... didn't write, they were all creative interpreters. Elvis was an authentic artist, he didn't write much but he was the producer of all his music at RCA. Yes, he was a great performer, he also played instruments, but his amazing vocals were his strongest component.....Elvis has one of the greatest, most versatile voices! Having said that, Eminem is up there with the greatest rappers, and as you said, he wrote 100s of song lyrics and has even composed beats....however, he can't really sing or play instruments. IMO they are both legends of their chosen style of music, with the main comparison being the black culture that influenced them both growing up.
