My mom grew up and graduated from broken arrow in 52 .. her folks had the Reed's store on south main. In grey building across street from pac where Whitley's grocery set along w their and other business. My grandparents home is the yellow house NXT to the grey building. My grandmother was Mrs Reed who was a secretary for Mr Brown in Tulsa. The other house was Ms boudknotts now a smoke shop. I still remember going to miemas for rooster day . Back then it was held in the middle of the downtown. My mother was grace imagene Reed
We lived in Broken Arrow from 1989 to 2009 near 81st and Garnett. Residing in the Kansas City area now. Tulsa area is great, Oklahoma is awesome!! Brings back truly great memories.
Omg much needed... almost the weekend ... this week has been hectic ... thanks for the ride through Broken Arrow, OK... I enjoyed a nice chilled glass of wine and rode along ‼️‼️ I enjoy these vids a TON 💕💕 I love road trips!!
It feels so strange watching somebody drive through my town on roads I've been down hundreds of times. It feels both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
@@joshuas7713 I just happened to be up to see this. Broken Arrow is a good sized town but also has a small town feel. It's definitely been growing in the past couple years and the cost of living isn't too bad. Oklahoma does have toll roads on the highways though, so be prepared to pay those or get a pike pass. Should also mention that the whole state of Oklahoma has a less than stellar school system (if kids are in the plans). There are some things to do here (the Rose District is really nice) but we are by no means a major draw for musical artists and other attractions, so you will have to go to places like Dallas for that. Also, Oklahoma roads are pretty bad. And I can't leave out the tornado threat, but I will say that more severe ones happen further out west. I hope this helps, it's not the best town ever, but if you are looking for somewhere that's fairly quiet and chill, it's not bad. It's also worth while to look around at towns near Broken Arrow like Jenks and Owasso. The Jenks riverwalk is nice and there also an aquarium there. But these places are all within driving distance of Broken Arrow too. Hope this helps!
That intersection 71st and Elm (161st street) used to be crooked, they finally came to fixing it after almost 30 years of me passing through there, BTW, there used to be a McDonald's a few hundred feet west of that same intersection, and Otasco, and there used to be a small Walmart on the northwest corner of that intersection, and a four seasons open air fruit stand little market on the southeast corner where the current QT is. Things have changed so much in BA in the last 45 years

We lived in B.A. for almost a year with my Job.. actually still own the house there!!! Man do we miss it!! We always say we'd go back in a heartbeat!!!
Moved here in 2007 after growing up and living in the Dallas Texas area since 1954. I love it here. Don't get me wrong i love Dallas and specifically Texas but Oklahoma people and Texas people believe along the same lines. Save for football. I've had relatives in both states. Friends and kinfolk that have attended Texas, OU, OSU, Baylor and SMU. I love all of those teams. But i still root for Texas over them all.
Seems like most people have loved living here, but for someone contemplating visiting or even moving here this shows a very unkempt city. It's not a very pretty city.... no planned landscaping, no curbs on the main streets, no attractive buildings, just disorganized structures. Is there any reason to visit or even move here besides the low cost of housing? Overall, the videos I've seen of other towns and cities in OK seem to be lacking in the design and beauty area. Is this true? I may be required to move here due to my work but it kinda makes me cringe.
Looks like he went thru in late fall or winter when most vegetation dies and goes dormant til early spring. Unless you live in a climate where the temp rarely goes below 45 or 50 it happens. I'm sure it looks different in April.
@@elwoodg29 then you understand it was when the grass was dormant thanks happens in most cool winter states not just where you guys live. That's why the first post was arrogant and stupid. From what he posted you'd think he lives in the garden of Eden. Theres always someone trying to put down a person or place theyve never met or visited. Go ahead be proud of where you live but you dont have to put down another place to feel superior about yourself. They should post the same area in spring I'm sure it looks nice.

Wasn't there a mini golf/go cart park at that location too? Or was that at 129th and 81st street? Can't remember exactly
@@whitelion1111 Yes, 81st and Garnett. Driving range, go carts, bumper boats, mini-golf and a fun center going strong in the 90's.

@@oliviaperalta9720 is a owasso a rich district? Please tell me
@@LilXancheX Owasso is more middle class. I'd say Jenks is more upscale than all of the towns I listed. It's a nice place.
Thank YOU SO much for using your blinker! It's one of my pet peeves when they DON'T use it, especially when you KNOW it works !!!!
Cracked me up

I remember all those places grew up behind that Walmart and would get Christmas presents from Otasco and go to the farmers market where QT is now.
I remember also a donut shop being where Papa Johns is but forgot the name there at 71st and Elm
Nice capture! Thanks for posting your clip ... Have a fantastic day!

I lived in Broken Arrow (BA) for 15 years and yes the winters can provide ample snow accumulation.
