Sam, I am retired now but during my working times I always looked for people who would work hard and do what ever it took to get the job done. You definitely are one of those that will take on anything and do it the best they can. Would have hired you in a heart beat. Great job and video! Merry Christmas!
Hi , a few yrs ago I bought a back hoe . A 580 case super e 4x4 diesel . It had a rebuilt engine and clutch packs . But after getting it delivered I found other things it needed too . I repainted the entire machine , rebuilt most of the cylinders , redid the power steering , tie rods , had new tires , new starter , fixed all the wiring , new lights and mirrors , bought a 12 “ bucket . Used it to do work at my house . Eventually I sold it at a loss to a retired maryland state trooper living about a half hr from me . Had trouble with the 2 stick controls for the hoe . Just could not figure out how to use them . I had rebuilt those controls and all of the hoe cylinders . One day I was trying to use the hoe and all of the sudden the thing just started working right . I thought it was me . I think it was dirt in the lines . I blew a few more lines and replaced them . After that was when the controls began to work good .
I truly enjoyed this video. It was slow and easy going. When a pre-teen the city installed culverts under a road leading into our homes development. I remember the crew excavating across the road, then laying clay and I think sand as a base followed by some grade of gravel. The culvert was set in place with gravel dumped on both sides and across the top. I then got to see a piece of equipment new to me. It was a vibrating compactor. It dropped the fill level down a few inches with more fill added. A dump truck brought in big rocks for each end of the culvert. Very entertaining for neighborhood kids looking for something to do during the summer. Your video brought those memories back.
Only 7 minutes in just as it’s going dark on the Friday , That’s one Hell of a job you did there SAM , very impressive. Can’t wait to see the finished job.
Sam you are one hard worker ,That culvert must have worked great with the Bottom rotted away , Finished job well done thanks for showing the end results months later
Be proud of what you’ve achieved Samantha, you kept the guys honest. I’ve only seen one other work like you and I married her 44 years ago. Thanks for posting, merry Christmas, and thank you for posting All the best to your family!! Cheers from downunder
Lots of rain here in Halifax,NS into December too. Great job on the culvert pipe and brush clearing. Your ambition and hard work ethic is awesome, Sam. Glad to see you making more videos ! Merry Christmas & Happy 2024 also.👍👍👍❤🎅🏻
Jewelweed sap will neutralize the urushiol that is in the poison ivy. It is very abundant in late summer. You can make a tincture from the ground-up jewel weed stems in a crock pot. It can be preserved it in either in isopropyl alcohol or vodka and it will last for a couple of years. I put it in a spray bottle and use it before showering. You can also use it if you already have a reaction and it will reduce the time to heal the skin rash. Also using a hair dryer or heat gun on the affected area will stop the itch.
I'm in northern VT and I also have a serious poison ivy problem. I've had it so bad once that I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room. But I struggled through. Urchial oil is no joke one of the worst things on the planet! It's so bad, the military experimented with it as a weapon of war. The problem was, it took too long to activate. Great vid, Sam.
I could see that your dad has had it with falcon's sarcasm by the end of the day. He couldn't even get a lunch order from him without stupid comments lolol 😂
Nice camerawork and video Samantha! You have a knack for making a good content. You and your family have a nice Christmas and hope you do many more videos next year..
As soon as i saw you with a weed eater and said you were allergic to poison ivy you would be wrapped up in it, i rarely break out and i reach into it with bare hands and pull that mess out of all kinds of things but if i hit it with a weed eater and sweating…..it gets everywhere lol. Glad you got over it and all is well, take care
Omg this, I was like please tell me she isn’t going to run that thing long because no mask means it can get into your lungs and that can be deadly. Glad it didn’t go that way 😅
Wow, great job, glad ur ok aftr ivy, glad u got some experience drvng the excavator, glad ur family was able to help too. I went on a hike and in the woods I saw concrete that allowd watr drain, it was intrstng since it was created a long time ago
Couple things. One, when you have a machine with a thumb available to rip out brush, let it. No need to cut it down 1st, the part above ground helps the machine get a better grip and adds leverage. And two, when you need to build a stone wall, build 2. Build them apart from each other at the base, and lean them together as you go up. Somewhere around halfway up start connecting them together with bridge stones. Merge the 2 wide wall into a 1 wide wall as you near the top. Super stable!
Omg Sam you made me spit my coffee out as I was listening to you when you said your wet but not in a good way my wife ask if o was ok I said yes almost choked on my coffee lmao 😂
Found that washing really well with Dawn Powerwash every couple of hours when working around poison ivy very helpful for not getting the rash or just a small case. Yes ... I am highly allergic to it!
0) Thank you for sharing. :-) 1) Me too, I admire your efforts. I "met" you on Andrew Camarata's channel, but you're great in your own right. [matter of opinion] ;-) 2) That big bug early-on, it could have been a water bug of prey. I (1956) remember catching one here in the Netherlands (1966?), taking it home, and unaware that it could fly. - Yours didn't look like dying to [ignorant] me, but rather suffering from a broken wing. Not too much lease of life, then...
One thing you never do is put crushed dranage stone around a pipe.. water runs though the stone eating away at the ground around the pipe until you end up with a sink hole on both side of the pipe ending in a total wash out. You want clay or good hard packing soil around the pipe so all the water go though the pipe not around it. You will be redoing it before long. Also if you have to hand dig the trench what good is the machine? The operator should be able to dig on grade and a clean button or fire them. Over the years I am fed up with contractors. I rent what I need an do it my self. It the only way a job gets done proper these days. So many think they buy a machine an make money but they have no clue what there doing and it never done right or the click the hours away just to make more and still can't see grade or operate. You should need to be moving rocks by hand and surely not hand stacking rocks at the end of the pipe. The machine operator should be able to place them all in know time with the machine. You would have been farther a head to dig that out with the backhoe on your tractor and do all that hand work then to pay that Inexperienced operator
Water will seep through that crusher rock and heave in the winters. Over time there will be a big bump there. You are correct, water will erode out under that pipe over time making a bigger problem than what they started with. Should have put erosion stone or rip-rap at culvert entrance and at the outfall. Not using level to assess grade or a transit is a great way to add to many things which with this job. NEVER climb on machinery or trust your life with hydraulics.
See what a lot of family work even though I knew it was miscommunication and miscommunication and frustration that water wouldn't write down your driveway, merry christmas
Make sure to keep broadleaf spray and brush kill always on hand. I spray the road ditches with 24D to get rid of the weeds and poison ivy and poison oak then when I cut a tree off I paint the stump with brush kill. Better living through chemicals.😂
Nice to met you Samantha. The old riders or the best. Nice to see you having your own RUclips channel. Yeap keep the videos and share them up here. From the great white north. Take care .
@Team: nice work; an improvement. @Sam: you should buy one of those cheapy mini-ex's and get to work; also, what were you using to cut the brush stems? tar paper knife?
Fair play to girl. But if that was anderw he would have done that on his own in a half an hour. But good luck with what ever you are doing. You are a good hard worker. And I wish you all the best.
That "bug" could have been a cicadia also known as a "jar fly" in some places. These have a life cycle where they only emerge over a rather long period of time (about once every decade). Good video....enjoyed wathing.
Merry Xmas, both of you. That’s not work, that’s having fun. Thanks for the high quality video, Sam. No nasty problems with the poison ivy, I hope. I wrote this before I saw the end…obviously.
Just remember if you get any on you you've done, so there's original dawn soap and it kills the oils from the plait's just the only way to do it. If you get it real quick, it'll kill the pool. I used to carry a bottle with me and if I touched the point I put a little bit on so I'm going to let you go but if you have to handle it. Put dancer on you for just leave it on, you don't draw it, wipe it off. Don't drive off and you won't get poison ivy. As long as you've got don soap on you the dishwasher salt

I avoided getting the rash many times by using a bar of soap and washing good in the shower immediately after being in contact with poison ivy.
Nice ending with the music, I would like to see it during the day. Merry Christmas.

Great video, Samantha. Many thanks for a year of interesting, varied, and enjoyable videos.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Austin
Thank you very much! Happy holidays
Very good job 👍
Nice job on the new pipe! I like the pensive piano with the shots at dusk at the end.
I haven't seen an excavator with that many levers in a long time! Brings back bad memories
Sam, I think that young man had more on his mind than that colvert, I think he was into you, great video keep[ them coming
Thank you, glad you enjoyed.
Dredd head might be her new guy but she'll never tell, so as not to 'jinx' things!
Why do you & those like you 'drift' into that zone? WHY? I saw 3 hard working ADULTS! If you saw more, you may have created issues! Take care.
I was teasing Sam if you didn't see him acting look a kid with a new puppy
Mr. Weber the ford looks really good!
Love following along Sam, great video, you looked good operating. Jay from Pa.
That rain was incredible. My sump pump didn't stop until late Monday night.
Hey buddy she should have gotten Post 10 to crawl inside that pipe 😂
Thank you for sharing Sam. Awesome job ❤
Ну девушка просто огонь. За все хватается. И выполняет любую мужскую работу. МОЛОДЕЦ, зачёт девчонке.👏👏👍🇷🇺

I wish Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. Greetings from Germany.
Wish I was there where you're at Samantha & help you out
I tuned in Samantha hoping to see you had bought an excavator. I think you would work your own equipment well
One day, when money isn’t thin
Found that washing really well with Dawn Powerwash every couple of hours when working around poison ivy very helpful for not getting the rash or just a small case. Yes ... I am highly allergic to it!
Yeah, I washed up three times throught the process with poison ivy soap. The ivy oils seeped through my clothes it was everywhere, I stood no chance.
A very good improvement! Oh the joys of property ownership..........Someone needs to give you a mini excavator for Christmas!
That would be cool but I don’t think it would fit under the tree
@@samanthaweber6932 depends on the tree...😂
Merry Christmas to all of you!
🎄👍👍👍
Sam you do more work manually than the guy running the excavator
Sometimes it be like that
Ok Sam here is my impatience I don't believe we've ever seen you operate a excavator. I know it takes talent
Nice video Sam...
