This is very spot on for me too. I just got back from a trip to my homeland and went to numerous religious / spiritual sites (many of which were ancient) that were incredibly healing. I felt so light and full of life, naturally smiling and content. Upon returning, it became deeply apparent how desensitized I am to toxicity & dysfunctional relationships as a means of coping. I had a few family members try to attack me as soon as I got back to my "home" country. Ever since I was a child people in my family would have feuds with each other, but then attack me to express their anger to the other person. They would also expect me to be the mediator, which is probably why they lashed out at me to get me drawn in. As an adult, I refuse to give my attention to bullies / intolerant people, meaningless arguments/drama/gossip.
