@Chris, thanks for your post.In last years someone found parts of this B-17, likely. It was crashed 15 miles away from the place of the crew's parachute jump (Turek, small city, centre of Poland). No one has confirmed that it is exactly this machine, but everything points to it. March 2, 1945, midday. The bomber hit a farm and caught fire. To this day, there is an elderly woman living in this house who remembers this accident. She is now almost 101 years old. Only small pieces remained, I have a few photos. If you would like, I can send to you. Cheers.

@@Grafspee39-c5l Incredible! This is the story of my father (Stanisław Nowak). Being a partisan operating in the Turek area at that time - he saved one of the jumpers hanging from a tree. Then he became a guide for the 59 crew. Until the 70s I had a souvenir of one of the pilots - a black-dyed jumpsuit. My family contacted some of the members. I live near Turek. Thank you for this valuable lead and please contact me.
      Best regards

@@raymondmcfalone26 Oh, super cool to get a reply from the person in charge! :D
Good time for an idea: how about splitting the interviews into the convenient 20- or 30-minute format YT and it's viewers like so much?
      Arguments:
      1) People are often dissuaded to watch 1.5hrs videos by their lenght. Offering them snack size might increase view-numbers. I think people will keep watching parts 2,3,4 once they found interest.
      2) Also I would like that because it makes it easier to restart watching when you don't have the time to watch all in one go (which happens a lot to me). Maybe others feel like that as well.
      3) I bet the algorithm likes that, too, and this incredible content gets more audience.
No matter if you follow these ideas or not, I hope you and your channel will do well!
      Have a nice day!

Well done, whoever took the trouble to interview these elderly airmen, before they were no longer with us. It’s a tragedy that no one took the same trouble with the former RAF aircrews, who ran virtually nightly raids for six continuous years. A great opportunity lost.

Glenn was such a nice man. I always think of his story as "The Race To Odessa". Thanks for watching. You might consider watching his other crew members description of these events, it makes for an interesting contrast. The other man is Lloyd Eickert - here is the link: ruclips.net/video/XsZEQKqK_64/видео.html

I have seen a lot about the Doolittle Raid. I wonder if they had known how those Air Crews were treated after getting captured and how many Chinese were killed in the search for the other escaping crews if they would have sent them over. Was it really worth it?
In the big picture so many are sacrificed. Surely in terms of costs versus reward I don't believe it was worth it to let the US Citizens have a few minutes celebrating while extremely brave men were tortured and killed.

My reading suggests most important effect was on the Japanese, not the Americans. It led to Midway because they realized their homeland, and their emporer (sp) were at risk.

@@st.charlesborromeo9793 The people of Japan seemed to hold very liitle sway on the crazy Military leaders. The Japanese had a strong military and felt invincible. Hubris and underestimating the Americans. But who knew we could stand and deliver so quickly?
