Sure, but if I showed you a picture of a finished car and then asked you to recreate it out of lose parts? I mean it’s not THAT hard, but trust me that’s no help
This game has all the earmarks of an 80s British home computer game developer: the detailed graphics and animation, the use of big chunky "demoscene fonts", the musical style, even the janky gameplay... all came from the same culture that gave us Manic Miner, James Pond, and Impossible Mission. Scumlord/"Scunlord" was the leader of the criminal organization S.C.U.M., widely believed to be Ernst Stavro Blofeld himself though it doesn't look like him. A few Bond villains made it into James Bond Jr., including Dr. Julius No, who along with his fellow Chinese criminal mastermind the Mandarin from the Iron Man series was given a green-skinned makeover for his 90s incarnation. Presumably this was to avoid offending Asians, but I think that just makes the situation worse.
The siren noise... make sure not to play that around your girls when they're in the mid single-digits. My 6 year old likes to repeat interesting noises. Like sirens, kitchen timers, etc. Last year, when the oven timer went off he'd walk around the house going "Timer ring", then repeat the alarm noise. And that siren noise, it doesn't sound like a siren noise to me. It sounds like a young kid's poor rendition of what a siren might sound like. OMG, I am so triggered :)
The slider puzzles along with the constant siren is what breaks this game. The odd level design and annoying jump back can be dealt with if you practice the game enough. This game could have been great but instead feels cheap. Usually caused by the dev team not having enough time to iron things out. Same thing happened with Battletoads. The music is really good by NES standards. Unfortunately, the best theme in the games is unused. Some may recognize it on my really old videos. ;)
You know I love me some Muppet references.....and I say often "we've tried nothing and we're out of ideas". This game looks pretty jenky. Hard pass for me, though James... James Bond.....James Bond Jr. IS in my head always too

Tediuos shooting in JBj? Well yeah, but its no match for The Empire Strikes Back for NES😅 That game is for SW most hardcore fans, as any ordinary player just falls into despair with the game and in 90% of cases that happens 'cos you have to shoot bosses and minibosses for eternity to move further. And as for JBj - I had the cartridge back in the days, cos the graphics was cool with the paralax and cutscenes in that startng level, but, man, I was so happy wen I managed eventually to trade the game for smth more fun.

Isn't that a giant hint to what you need to do in the puzzles above the box with a blinking rocket in it?
Sure, but if I showed you a picture of a finished car and then asked you to recreate it out of lose parts? I mean it’s not THAT hard, but trust me that’s no help
I watched the cartoon never knew there was a game. I would've def played this as a kid.
That "naked guy" looks like Jimmy Snuka.
Hahaha nailed it!
I picked this one up at a convention last year. Knew nothing about it other than I didn’t have it and never heard of it.
That’s all you’ll ever need to know!

James Bond Jr full series review. The time is now for us fans to unite!
I definitely see the Impossible Mission connection
The siren noise... make sure not to play that around your girls when they're in the mid single-digits. My 6 year old likes to repeat interesting noises. Like sirens, kitchen timers, etc. Last year, when the oven timer went off he'd walk around the house going "Timer ring", then repeat the alarm noise.
And that siren noise, it doesn't sound like a siren noise to me. It sounds like a young kid's poor rendition of what a siren might sound like.
OMG, I am so triggered :)
Hahahahaha noted!
You are correct. Never played it
Haha - what a reward! - allowed to replay the entire game :)
Hooray!
lovely video 🧡🙏🏼
Thanks!
I watched that as a kid, forgot about it, and here we are, remembering it just now only from the intro song ^^
Guess it alsp wasn't very memorable xD
James Bond Jr. chases scuuummm…around the world!
Some may recognize it on my really old videos. ;)
Yeah cheap is definitely the right word
3 3 years.. I feel ya man. Me too
WHERE DOES THE TIME GO!?!
i seen this in a mall back in 93 but i never bought it nor played it
You chose WISELY
You know I love me some Muppet references.....and I say often "we've tried nothing and we're out of ideas". This game looks pretty jenky. Hard pass for me, though James... James Bond.....James Bond Jr. IS in my head always too
"Verifique isso" (the RUclips automatic translation to portuguese being so polite to ignore the sh*t word on the sentence) 👀👄👅
Love it
I played this game an watched the cartoon show
… was that a real cartoon?? Hard to believe I’ve never heard of that
I had this game on Super Nintendo and it was awesome. Try that one
It's Ferrari Grand Pricks Challenge
Pricks is a French word which means asshole.
Every time I think I know all of the bad licensed games out there, I learn about another one.
They just keep coming!
NGL Id probably let someone put this Game in a Microwave.
I had someone do that to my copy of California Games.
Oh damn! California Games does not deserve it!
@@BigOleWords a Guy I knew was borrowing California Games and someone told him that putting it in a Microwave would break it. I still don't know why he actually did it though. never got a Replacement from him either.
Nice review James. This game could have been a good one.
Thanks Jeff!
Oy, James Pond mate
In conclusion, if you want a retro gaming experience set in the James Bond universe, just stick with GoldenEye on N64.
What about 007 The Duel for Sega Genesis? That's more retro than N64. The Duel is a good platformer/action adventure game.
The SNES game was Okey... But maybe i am just nostalgic
...how do you have so few likes for the quality of these video's???
I’m gonna go with vast internet conspiracy ;)
This game reminds me of Goonies 2.
I’d rather suffer through a thousand Goonies II first person rooms than play this again
OUCH What do you do!?
Why did you think a giant bubble would stop them?
Haha
Puzzles didnt seem soo bad until the noise...eiyaaa
I think those are pukka shells rather than teeth
JBJ would definitely rock pukas.
Jbj cartoon seemed good. 90s cartoons were the best
finally a new review!
Hey! I’ve made more recently!
so if this kid is nephew of James Bond how can he be called James Bond Jr? wouldn't his Dad have to be called James Bond SR which would be weird because that would mean he and his brother are both called James Bond.
Yeah it doesn’t make ANY sense
i want to remake this game
You should, it needs it!
Scumlord…since the plot of the show is him chasing down the evil organization S.C.U.M.
WAIT. Gotcha is based on a cartoon?
Hahah heyo!
James Bond Jr is weirdbecause it implies that the character is 007's son, when he's actually his nephew. I guess 007 has a brother named James
Oooof Empire. That game is ROUGH
@@BigOleWordsI remember that after weeks of progressing through stages our company of NES cowboys/SW geeks finally got to the battle with Dart Vader, we first tried to apply different tactics, to quickly switch forces types, to found a safe spot etc. We were exhausted and wanted to finaly beat the game that evening. In the end we just turned on super saber and rushed trying to hit Vader as much as possible. And it worked out! On the last bit of energy. Just nearly missed the death of Luke.
Almost No One Played. I had it and the toys as a kid. Sold it a few years ago online for 50. If you bought this from me, I'm sorry.
Don’t be, the masochism is part of the collecting spirit!
@@BigOleWords Do you want a copy of Raid on Bungeling Bay? It is just like Bond Jr. lol
@@frozentunadeluxe3163 I have it and don't think I've ever played it!
@@BigOleWords That one is for when you really hate yourself.
It looks like Star Wars NES.
I can see it!
Star Wars is much better game than this.
Even the weird Namco version is worth playing just for a laugh.
