    Thank you for the informative video. My 1997 Vortec 350 K-2500 Suburban overheated and began steaming out the exhaust this week. I'm considering an LS 6.0 swap using my low-mileage, factory-remanufactured 4L80E. I already have the GT5 4.10 gears and the G80 14 bolt. A 6.0 has plenty of torque and power for my needs and parts are plentiful. I don't want to lift my Suburban as it is easy to drive for me. I would like to retain the factory AC and relocate the alternator and battery.

    No way! I have a 1994 with a SD axle up front and I'm working on putting an 8.1 in it.

    Nice job! I have a 96 burb 2500 like you and I’m thinking of doing a SAS on it. I like what you did.

    I dig that, I would do something similar to a 96-99 Suburban, and then I get a second Suburban any year from that generation and convert it into a camper trailer, I’ve seen it done before and liked the idea.

    Great video I’m thinking of building a hunting, camping and wheeling rig out of one of these to bomb around with the family. I did a 93 gmt400 years ago with the 36” pad width rode great. right now I’m on the fence between running the radius arm style super duty or leafs I have access to both axles. Just not sure if the extra money going to coils is worth it my old truck had ez ride super
    Lift springs with bilstein shocks it rode very nice. Also thanks for sharing so much info I’ll probably be watching again to figure things out

    I tell people when they ask about " How much lift is it " I say " It's not lifted, it's a Solid Axle Swap " And then they look like a dog turning it's head trying to understand what I'm talking about? 😂

    Glad to see an up to date video about this. I have a 97 C2500 that has a 6.5 detroit and 4l80. I gutted a 02 2500HD that had the 8.1 backed with a Allison trans. Everything is going in my 97. I was just curious if anyone knew if you can take spindles and such from a 02 and mate them to a 97?

    I did the same to my rear axle but everything came from a one ton 77 3/4 ton 14 bolt everything 1981 one ton 14 bolt dually 456 gears open diff to mini spool .new bearings on the pinion that's all I left the carrier bearings alone because I'm probably going to do 40 spline shafts back there and a full spool . 513s or 538s im not sure on that .because I still need to do a better transfer case....

    Very nice GMT400 project- thanks for the update! What wheel spacers did you use in your rear 14 bolt? I have the exact same problem with my Dana60/14 bolt with different stud threads. My project is a 1994 GMC Yukon 2 door with ORD SAS. Thanks

    I love that C10! I tried to leave a comment but they are turned off. What headers did you use on your C10? My father and I are 90% done with a 64 Cadillac for my grandpa. Did an 8100 carb(fitech)/intake/HEI converted to rack n pinion, notched the frame and slimmed up the oil pan to fit under the hood. Quiet a project really. But we bought 2 sets of headers, 1 on each bank to fit. I see your set on the C10 look like they save much more space from ours. I'd like a matching set to finish it.

    • @stevekay8926
      @stevekay8926  Год назад +1

      Yeah, sorry didn’t have comments on those vids. But I ended using headers that were made for a Chevelle with a big block. They’re pretty big with 2” primaries and 3.5” collectors, so I had to do some “messaging” on a couple parts of the headers to clear a few spots, but as a whole they fit pretty good in my c10

      @@stevekay8926 awesome info thanks! I believe in our situation we started with a fairly expensive kit that we needed to mock up then weld but one side wasn't going to fly so bought a second kit.

    Hey you did what I was thinking of doing for a tie rod end! I have the same kingpin ford Dana60 and I’ve already bent one of those factory style tierods… how much clearance do you have between the diff cover and the straight tie rod at full lock? It would be cool to run an after market diff cover since I want to do hydro assist

    • @stevekay8926
      @stevekay8926  Год назад +1

      Seems like I have about 1/2” clearance at lock. With a beef aftermarket cover it might be really close
