Looking good man. That 3 week stint with no rain really set everything back. My buckwheat is just now starting to grow. Going to be interesting to see how tall it gets by the first week of August. Love the videos. 👍🏻
Yeah same here, my buckwheat is a lot smaller than it should be this time of the year. Hopefully it gets to at least knee high, maybe waist high before I seed my brassicas.
I have a red bag seeder, I think it’s an earth way. I use it for brassicas, clover and fertilizer. Beans don’t work to good in it. Even with the slot fully opened they still don’t come out fast enough.
Yes, I have buckwheat in a few spots, but like the beans it didn’t germinate until 2-3 weeks after planting. I plan on doing no-till brassicas into it but it may only be knee higher by then.
Soybeans are hard to no-till. You really need to double the rate and sling it out right before a rain. You had great results for the conditions you got. IMO a higher seeding rate and you would’ve been alright. Keep up the hard work
I have never done that in any of my plots, not really sure what it does. You only need to do that the first year right? I just focus on getting the ph correct and making sure to add enough fertilizer on the bigger winter plots.
Sometimes I will throw a few beans in with my brassica plantings. But I never plant just strait beans that late in the year because they won’t make any pods and later in the year it ends up being just a waste of space.
Best food plotter on RUclips. Thanks for all your info,
👍
That 3 week drought sucked but my sorghum is flying now after we finally got some good rain. Good video.
It might have been closer to 4 weeks I was starting to get really worried. Everything here has really exploded since the rain too.
Good job, young man. Dedication and hard work will yield results. Enjoy the holiday and be save. Looking forward to more updates.
Thank you, more updates coming very soon…

@@wisconsinwhitetail9744 same with me bud.
Did youbroad ast your corn?looks good!
No, the corn was planted with our 2 row planter
man you need an earthway spreader lol they are like $40

How in the world did that buck survive a couple years? O food plots are great!
Which buck are you talking about the white one at the end of the video?
@@wisconsinwhitetail9744 Yea, he’s gotta be a couple years old
How do you spray those beans when there so close to your trees without harming the trees?
I sprayed with a backpack sprayer. That particular area is at most 1/5 of an acre. So it didn’t take that long at all.
Hey bud nice video. Did u get out your Buckwheat?
Yes, I have buckwheat in a few spots, but like the beans it didn’t germinate until 2-3 weeks after planting. I plan on doing no-till brassicas into it but it may only be knee higher by then.
Did you broadcast the corn?
No the corn was planted with our old 2 row planter. I have broadcasted corn in the past just go a little bit lighter than beans.
How many pounds per acre when using this method?
I would plant a little heavy. On a normal year with rain after planting almost all the beans will germinate, you don’t want to plant to thick though.
what did you use to knock down the rye? Thanks
That was a drag, they are normally used for leveling off tilled ground and breaking up clumps of dirt but works ok for crushing down the rye.
So excited 😆
how far apart are your corn rows?
Our old 2 row planter is set up at 38” rows. There is only a couple rows that wide. I double planted most of the field so most of the rows are 15-20”
That corn is outstanding are you going to throw a couple handfuls of beans into the bare areas or just let it go
I might try and broadcast a few brassicas in the weak spots before the next rain, otherwise those bare spots will just fill in with weeds eventually.

How much fertilizer did you apply to your beans, and to your corn?
I put on 3 bags, 150lbs of 9-26-31 the day we worked it up. The plot is approximately 0.6 acres.
What kind of beans are you sowing?
There nothing special, they are harvested ag beans from last fall.
@@wisconsinwhitetail9744 any reason you don't inoculate your beans?

with your beans, do you plan on going into the fall with only pods? cuz i usually plant my fall beans in august
