Can always hire Macdonald as HC; then add Kafka as Assistant HC/OC.
Maybe top it off and Add Evero or Graham as DC. Get the trifecta for our coaching staff.

You cant hire away an OC or DC for the same role if they are under contract. Only for a HC job.

@@Deathfromamile Actually you can; as making them an Assistant HC/DC or OC would be viewed as a promotion.

We need Mike MacDonald! Forget everyone else unless you’re talking for a coordinator job.

There's rumors that Ben Johnson turned down the panthers last year also, so he probably isn't comfortable becoming a head coach just yet, which is lucky for us, since we don't need a coach, who doesn't feel prepared for the job.

    • @billytheweasel

Or he's secure enough to not over reach and be happy where he's happy. No idea really. Do you have a source saying he's not comfortable?

Man's had two years to be a head coach, which is fine if he doesn't want a job atm. He seems very happy in detroit. So i don't blame him for saying.@@billytheweasel

If Mike isn't it I wonder if we did our homework and had a secured plan BEFORE firing a 14 yr coach w/ a >60% win rate and coming off yet another winning season.

As a lions fan, I am happy. However, sounds like billionaire owners r being cheap with the hc salaries. They will pay a free agent bum 10 Millie a year for nothing. But when it comes to a coach running the whole show, the make em fight for every dollar in the interview process

Yeah, people jumped the gun thinking this was a job people wanted, forgetting that we lacked a qb, and lots of pieces on the oline/dline. Some delusional fans follow our team.

To me, not getting Johnson is a blessing as long as we don't screw it up and just hire McDonald, who was the best candidate anyway.

Reporter gibberish. In the span of three sentences, you say both that Macdonald is the frontrunner--but that it "appears" to you that the Seahawks actually prefer an offensive coach. So which is it? Why does it "appear" this way to you, and why? Seems like a better translation is, "this is what Gregg Bell wants but he's going to frame it in a way that sounds like legitimate reporting." Will be very happy when this process is over so we can go back to ignoring these goofballs.

    What a joke!
What John failed to see is that Pete made Seattle a destination because the players wanted to play for Pete.
Whatever talent the team had is on its way out the door as soon as they can, not to mention whatever Coach they end up with is going to want his own guy at QB, not that Smith and Lock are great or terrible, I believe Pete and his staff managed to get the best out of them, I think that’s all but gone now.
People got what they wanted and now here’s your full rebuild, and who knows how long until they are competitive again.😂

The job is a firing waiting to happen. No D-line, missing parts on the O-line, middle draft picks, average QBs, all will lead to a mediocre team.
