Great video series, Bob! Thanks so much! Tip that works for me is to use small piece of tape over the tracing so that it doesn't smear the pencil marks when applying to the wood. Line stays sharp instead of a bit blurred. Easier to cut.

Bob you are inspiration. Every year at Christmas I beg my parents for intarsia so I can be like you. You are truly the greatest along with Barney. Every morning I get up watch blues clues eat cheerios and do intarsia. YOU ARE EQUIVALENT TO GOD IN MY BOOK from your #1 fan Patrick.

LOL...Patrick, I'll write a letter to Santa for you this year, I'll talk to Barney for ya too. Then I'll have my own bowl of Cheerios. Have fun and thanks for the awesome comment...Bob

If I can't find the right woods to use, can I just use wood stain to replicate the colors of the wood that I would've wanted to use?

+wmw0702 Sure you can. There is not a set rule as to how you have to make intarsia. Staining, dying or painting wood is fine. Enjoy your new hobby.

Why wouldn't you lay the entire pattern out and cut all the pieces at once instead of tracing and cutting the individually?

      Hey Majik,
If you want to cut your entire project out of one wood variety, you sure could put the pattern down as a whole and cut it in one shot. That would be considered Segmentation.
Intarsia use's a variety of wood types which requires putting the pattern on several different pieces of wood. Instead of printing out multiple copies of the pattern, I find it is much more efficient to trace the pattern pieces out. This also increases your cutting accuracy because you are cutting a tracing of the actual piece that has been cut. This will allow the next piece to line up almost perfectly with the traced piece, your gaps will also be minimal.
