Same here. I'm a Scot born and bred, and I've tried to explain that feeling to an English friend but he just doesn't understand it! I do hope though that people gave generously for a very worthy cause.

Every time I hear the bagpipes, I think of my father. He loved the bagpipes. I think that is why I like them too and I get weepy when I hear them.

And we invited the Bon Accord Ladies pipe band to Bermuda two years later. They played with us at one of the Beating Retreat ceremonies.

Lots of Gordon kilts and pipebags! The band I used to play in (Bermuda Islands Pipe Band) wears the Gordon tartan. Way back in 1984 we toured Scotland. Our first stop was in Aberdeen. The next stop was in Aboyne for the Aboyne Highland Games, and as we were rehearsing, we had no idea that we had to form up into the circle. So we were still in our rectangular marching formation until one of the pipers from the Bon Accord Ladies pipe band helped us out. When we finished, some girls from the Bon Accord Ladies came up to us and asked us "Wheer ye coomfy?" We didn't know what they were saying. So another Bon Accord Ladies piper told us, "They want to know where you're from". We also played for the Deborah Carr Highland Dancers, and when that was finished she came up to us and told us we were the best band they had ever danced with. It was second nature for us because we had our own group of highland dancers. Then a crochety old man came up to us and asked us where we were from. "Bermuda". "Ooh, that explains it!""What do you mean?" "I've never heard my tune played like that before." He was the composer of 'Longueval', which had three parts in it, and we had added a fourth part. We won Best Overseas Pipe Band Grade 4 at the World's at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow. By default. We were the only overseas band in grade 4, but were actually than two other bands. Trip of a lifetime that was.

Great job by them and yes a great cause for the soldiers of Scotland. I should know this, but can anyone tell me the name of the tune after Flett From Fotta? And can anyone tell me the two tunes after The Battle's O'er? thank you.
