I was feeling very down, and then I found this today. I'm so uplifted. Just love the conifers and moss, and, of course, the gentle waves. Blessings.
Peter Chan has been an inspiration for me as well. My first bonsai book was written by him and I was so pleased to discover his RUclips channel. Dave, Gabriola B.C.
Hey David. My wife just bought me his first book. He inspires me so much too!
@@bonsaibythesea I hope that one day soon… if COVID ever ends, I will be able to visit his nursery in England. However, in the Pacific Northwest we have a number of good nursery’s.
Fantastic collection! Your effort to this art is inspiration to me. Thank you James!
Hey! I have found my new calling! Learning this filming thing and hope to share more content and grow with each video trees and getting better at it. I enjoy it so much.
The best background for bonsai display. Feel calm and quiet. And make the bonsai stands out very well! Looking forward to more videos!
It was a magical day with great light and quiet waves. The sea has many moods. We caught on a very zen day. Thanks for watching!
Having just found YOUR channel today I am working to watch all your videos I feel blessed today to have found Your channel is is truly inspiring having spent every Summer from birth to 16 in Nova Scotia I love to see someone doing what I love so much and doing it beautifully thankyou Elle from S. Ontario

100%
I really enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing your passion James :)!
It’s passion and obsession at this point. 😂
Great that you discovered this hobby
Yes Mr Chan is the Bomb I wish I knew of him when I did my first bonsai in the 90's but lost touch with the art so now I am getting back at it just need to find my tools, like your channel too. Its good to find an informative channel where the camera person does not move too much and does not do a lot of zooming.
Thanks -- my wife is the camera person and trying to learn-- the tools are part of the journey for sure!
Very nice. Cool trees, cool pots and the moss looks great! Healthy 🙂
#2 is superb. I'm looking forward to future episodes, but I realize I must be patient beyond the typical youtube wait. ;)
We hope to post one every few weeks. Thanks for writing, means a lot.
Cheers from Ojai California. Keep on collecting
We will! thanks for comments!
I'm giving you a shot; Subscribed, liked, and looking forward to future videos.
Thanks man! I am hoping for every few weeks…much to learn but love sharing and hearing others journey into Bonsai and yamadori
So happy to have found your channel - thank you for sharing! It continually amazes me how many people Peter Chan has inspired with his videos! I love your number 3 grouping- so peaceful! And your moss is wonderful- I live in hot Savannah GA and we don’t get moss like that here. I think I can understand your passion for the trees- I could just pull up a chair and be content to sit and watch mine grow. Bravo for starting the channel and I look forward to all that you bring to the bonsai community
Thanks man…I am just getting started. Peter Chan has touched so many and continues to inspire me.
U will have a blast as you develop them!! With the seasons to come
it sure has been fun...the watering is the biggest issue in summer-- i have over 250 now
@@bonsaibythesea try to set up a self watering every so of them ^.^ is a great help wit a timer like every 5 hrs not sure but to ur desire uk ^.^
Peter Chan❤
The best! He really inspired me and continues to teach me.
Yes, we become very attached to the time we are gifted with our trees. Thanks, keep growing
I wish I had started earlier but glad I found these beauties and community now! Thanks for writing.

Thank you! You can add scallops as they are here as well! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful trees! Your tone of voice is just so captivating😄. Thanks for sharing and I am also a Peter Chan fan 👍🏼😁
Thanks. Peter Chan has been great source of inspiration!
Cool trees man!!! my favorite 1 was the first tamerack.
I live the tamaracks. I am always on the look out for them when out in the woods. They great at all different seasons. Thanks for comments.
I really enjoy your videos and love the concrete pots you have made … You have a Beautiful home , I’m hooked… thank you ✨
Thanks so much! I am learning so much and enjoying sharing. We do live in an amazing part of the world.
If you play this at 1.5 speed it's easier to listen to.
Thanks and keep watching at any speed that works for you!
I love your relaxed calm approach. You have a lovely selection of trees and your pots are fab. I too enjoy my bonsai trees. None of mine are perfect but all are beautiful to me. Peter Chan's videos are great. He does not judge and respects other people's work. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Keep up the videos I will enjoy watching your journey 😊
Thank you so much! i am having fun making them.
Just discovered your new channel, nice pickin for sure. Have you watched Evolution Bonsai, Rafael did some videos on creating light weight cement bonsai pots. Mine turned out well and have weathered winter in London On. well. Please take us out in the wild to watch your Yamadori expeditions.
Working on next video now and it’s exactly that! I will check out Rafael’s channel. Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful bonsai
So nice of you to say-- thank you!
That last spruce looks so young for it's age!
they are all growing so fast and now the artistic part comes in and i am just learning this part. well learning all of it-- but its been so much fun
Great vid! I get what you say about getting attached to them. I can not sell one of my trees. New subscriber!

Yamadori-19 pandemic there.... i like it :)
its been a gift and now a vocation!
Greetings from Austin! Did you ever visit the Central Texas Bonsai Exhibit south of town on RR12?
Haven’t been there what year was it built
@@bonsaibythesea not sure! I know it’s been there at least since I moved to San Marcos in 2010 👍🏼
@@bonsaibythesea that was the bonsai shop in Wimberley! We went there many years ago. It was across the little bridge boy it was 20 years ago now
My New RUclips Channel
This hobby is really is more powerful than drugs once we get in it will never leave
What is the Juniperus?
Simple but beautiful. 👍🏾
The same hoby from Indonesia. 🙏🏾
The junipers are native here and from the cypress family. I really want a bald cypress and looking for one now. Thanks for writing me. I enjoy all the people from all over the world finding me and bonsai!
Not bad mate we have started around the same time (although I did kill a few years ago ) I know as much as you probably but your trees have a penjin feel with the moss kind of creating hills 👏
Thanks man, it got me through pandemic and now I am hooked. I like the forest making part as well and will show more of that as I do it. #bonsai!
Fun fact about Bonsai pronunciation...
Bawn-sigh = long live the emperor / thousand years to the emperor (what kamikaze soldiers would yell charging into war)
Bone-sigh = plant in pot
Great fact!
Peter got a lot of us started in bonsai.
he is my hero and love his relaxed approach-- he has inspired so many of us!
Peter Chan 🙏🏻🌲
Hey buddy how much does the cement pot weigh about?
All different sizes. Most are 15-20 pounds. The pottery ones we will start to show soon weigh much less. These cement pots stay out and the trees are super happy in cement. I will do a video soon on how to make them. Cheap and not too hard to do at home. Thanks for comments.
I don't know about the triple screen.
Well we are new to this and learning how to do shoot. We like the triple screen and hope our filming skills improve as we do more content. Keep the comments coming. We enjoy this community and like feedback.
Moss is more showing and not for developing and growing. If you’re focused on growth take the moss out and you’d be astounded at the differences. And do not bonsai pot your plants until they are ready to show. Yamadori does best in a nursery pot with organic soils during its growing stages, when it’s ready to show, which can be years… then it’s time for akadama, Pumice MOSS if you want it and well draining rock pretty much to focus more on fertilizer, Biggest aspect of bonsai that completely gets skipped out on is understanding the difference between refinement and development in my opinion. And I love Peter as well but that’s one thing he never really captivates or teaches that’s extremely important in bonsai. Of course take what I say with a grain of salt don’t change anything just learn and apply to your future projects!
Thanks for your insight..
I bet during this pandemic you miss Texas 😆
Our Atlantic bubble has been quiet lovely!
Hi, can you tell us your secret about your Moss, please?
Hi, it’s a moss paradise around here no secret just collect moss apply and water a lot
It's all over the beach. Very providential for a bonsai maker.
I very much enjoyed your video of you sharing your bonsai with us. I would very much like to know where to buy a hat like the one you are wearing in the video. Cheers.
I got the hat in Oaji California and it was like 25 bucks. I will check the tag and let you know. It’s been a good one.
@@bonsaibythesea Awsome thank you so much!
I have two of those hats. They are especially good in windy weather, while taking care of my trees.
When farmers markets get shut down for “health” I bet you miss Texas 😂
Ummmm….lol
@@bonsaibythesea I’ll take that as a yes haha
