Impressive footage. The rest of Montserrat is still nice, still beautiful beautiful paradise. The most magical place and very best people I have ever come to know!
WOW what a Sad sight of the town of Plymouth! Yes and I always wondered why Nobody was sneaking in and put it on video?? But finally after decades SY did! Congratulations SY and Thanks a lot for ur time and effort! Have a nice day and may the good LORD Bless you !!
Nice drone footage thanks for sharing. We sailed past heading south a couple of years back and it really looks eerie and of course very sad. Fair winds from Curacao.
I was just watching a 1990s video of Plymouth and wondering if any of the less-damaged buildings had been re-occupied. Obviously the answer is "no". The most damaged parts of the town have been buried even deeper by more pyroclastic flows over the years since the eruption began.
Real shame is that even the houses unburnt by the pyroclastic flows and unburied by lahars (away from the ghauts they traveled down) still had so much wet ashfall that their roofs inevitably collapsed. Nobody could live or keep a home in such an environment.
The volcano is still very active. The whole area is an exclusion zone due to the risk of more eruptions, so the place is off limits until the volcano quiets down. It's been over 20 years now, and it might be many more before rebuilding is an option.
My dad was born there and left at age 3..a long long time ago..got an inheritance of land there but we never followed it up after the volcano,so sad. But my fellow Caribbean people are forging ahead and rebuilding their lovely island, good luck to my father's land. Edwards.

I'm sure the air quality would be poor from the continued volcanic activity, also.
I would say they’ve been hit by quite a few hurricanes on top of that.
It's so sad to see half of there island destroyed..
Nice video, Sy!! Always wanted to see that "ghost town".
Nice video. I remember when that happened and watching it on the news. About 1996 I think?
Excessively loud musical background even at lowest setting.
great footage guys... keep up the great video. :)
Nice!
At 40 to 49 seconds… And at 59 seconds what’s left of the dorms at AUC
Volcanic ash is difficult to clean up
IS THERE any follow up video..

They should rebuild.
che gran casott
Why don't historians use this to study with what happened at pompeii?
you think there's skeletons and shit in some of those buildings?
I believe the most of them had time to evacuate
😟💙
geography lesson
Can they tear the homes down and rebuild?
