I was at a tower raising party. Tower was up. And we were all sitting, talking, playing radio. I was in the middle. A new Yeasu FTD5D to my left and a motorola xpr something to my right. I was having a conversation on 725 with a friend. We all had the same repeater programmed. I was the only one able to talk. On a Wouxon KG-UV9GX. Everyone was asking who I was talking to and no one could hit the repeater. 😅

The 935G is a great gmrs HT, but since the 935G PLUS came out the old one is kind of antiquated now.

I have the same problem that you do with the KG-S88G. Excellent radio for short range (MRS range), but I cannot hit a repeater about 10 miles away that my KG-805G hits perfectly. I was hesitant to buy the KG-935G due to the short range of the KG-S88G, but your review makes me much more comfortable ordering one. I have a KG-905G and a KS-935G+ on order, and I cannot wait to test them.

Great video. I have the 935G and a 9PX. Both are great but if you want JUST a GMRS radio I agree to stay with the 935G, you will be happy.

I know when I click on one of your videos I can expect valuable no nonsense content. This one is no exception! Curious to know where you get the nagoya antennas to ensure they are not one of the counterfeits floating around out there.

If you have 935 (or any other direct conversion radio), can you please tune in to 442.000? In my area, there is this constant QRM at home, outside, and even when hiking in the park. Nothing like that with a superhet radio (805 or UV9). We have a local 442.000 ham repeater. It's totally jammed on the 935, you can't even tell that there are people talking. It's totally clear on the UV9.
I would say, if you have $150 to shell out, go with the UV9. No quirks. Great RX (I set the squelch at 3-4). The RX audio can come across as a bit harsh at first. But it's not intended to play music at a party. It's for voice comms, and I really appreciate it how well it cuts through the noise in a moving car, for example. Etc.

100%. The 935G is the best GMRS handheld I have. I've had mine for about a year and it consistently hears and talks better than the other GMRS radios I have. Great audio on both sides. The scanning is faster than other GMRS radios. Not the fastest, but good enough. Tough as nails and yes, I've used it in the pouring rain with zero problems. It's worth every penny. It's a solid radio. The quality all around makes it the best choice for people who like nice things and want a radio they can count on in tough times.

Thanks for making these videos. I have a KG-905G but unfortunately not many GMRS repeaters in my area. I also have a KG-UV9D plus as a ham radio and that thing is hard to beat. Wouxun is Chinese but they just make great stuff. Icom and Yaesu should pay attention!

Is the KG-UV9PX a Better option For a Ham Radio TO do the Mars Mod to make it transmite on GMRS or Can you Mars Mod The KG-UV9GX GMRS radio to Transmite on Ham Bands? Interesting Question 7:09 @KS6DAY

I have the KG-UV9GX and am probably going to purchase the KG-935G Plus Prepper kit.
I just wish that the KG-935G had a superheterodyne receivers but have heard that the clarity is quite good for being on a chip.
Just heard you talk about this which sealed my decision to purchase the KG-935G.

It does have a direct conversion receiver. But it's a very good one. I have no complaints about it at all.

Nice video. Unfortunately, the accessibility on this radio for individuals who are blind isn’t very good. I wish it was, so I can get this radio. Could you do a review on the voice prompts of this radio? Maybe a review to see what talks, and what doesn’t talk? That be awesome. Thanks.

Does anyone know whether this direct conversion radio is made with an old RDA chip (like Baofeng) or some new Beken BK chip? New Retevis radios use BK chips. Great radios with HT antennas, but still suffer from some front end overload when used with big outside antennas, especially in urban areas. What about the 935 and its bigger mobile brother?

To me what matters is 1) does the product meet the claimed spec and 2) does the product splatter all over 70cm. wouxun are ok. But if you are looking for the best -- Anytone are significantly higher tier than wouxun in performance. The spectrum analyzer reveals the truth!

There is no reason for a GMRS radio to have two RX/TX modules. That stuff is for VHF-UHF cross-band repeat ham radios. There is no such thing on GMRS. Dual watch on a single receiver is plenty enough for GMRS. No reason to pay 2X for something you don't actually use. It is mind-boggling how they were able to sell the GMRS-locked version of the 8H ham radio as a step forward in GMRS. It is like selling chimney smoke.

Looks like the KG-S88G is available. I have one and use it quite often. It is, however, a bit less featured. But in a couple ways it has some better feature such as the super heterodyne receiver and IP67 rating.
