Hello I’m ready to buy, but my explorer has tvs in the driver and co pilot back headrest. Will it also include dvd playing features? The reason why I bought the suv was for the kids
I've purchased 3 android stereos only to send them all back. The first one was a 12.5 in. tesla style radio that I loved a lot. It had all the functions working but I don't remember if the steering wheel control worked. It stopped working after 1 night. The next one was a10 in swiveling face single din radio. I sent that back because no steering wheel, backup camera, and touchscreen was iffy. Then I purchased a10.5 in tesla style only to have a professional installer tell me the AC buttons on the unit doesn't work correctly, the steering wheel memory was nil, and backup camera had to use its own. It couldn't use the stock camera already installed. I'll buy this one if you tell me it's worth it. I have a 18 ford explorer with a sync 3 module. I installed a sub amp and a 4 channel with a passive EQ. LMK PLEASE! Thank you for the video.

Yes, this will work, There is some very important setup that is involved, will take patients setting the a/c control, etc. I will connect you with the tech himself to correctly set it up.

Yes, will work with your sync 1 system. You can add a reverse cam, super easy plug and play. I have reverse cams on hand.

I like how responsive it is.. we have a 2017 xlt and i dont know anything about it. I dont like how slow it is tho. And you have to press a bit hard on the screen.
Great video. I installed the exact same unit on my 2012 Ford Explorer Limited. The trigger for me was that the touch sensitive hazard light switch stopped working and the agency wanted to replace the entire Sony panel charging twice of what I paid for this gigantic Android screen.
I lost 2 key features and am wondering if anyone has a solution/workaround for this. 1) The physical rear AC control buttons behind the center armrest stays in locked position but I am able to control rear AC from the Android screen. 2) The auto parking feature does not work anymore.

Yes, if you have the 4" screen, you would need the sync 1 model, identical to the one in the video
I installed this same screen but for a 2012 ford f150, but the climate controls fail, the compressor turns on and off all the time, therefore it cannot cool down, will you have an answer to this?
Never heard of that problem so no clue, I have been running digital climate controls in my GT since 2020 and no problems.....
My cord explorer compressor turns on by itself as well and turns hot air on itself! Any news with yours ?
@Caymanspyder, You never mentioned if you needed to use the mic or not. Ad if so where did you mount it?
I would recommend it after installing it. I mounted mine near the steering wheel, but you can run it to the visor, headliner etc.

Update, I installed my Android head unit today and have 3 major problems. 1 the climate controls does not work. I plugged in my old unit and it works just fine. Checked the connection but it still doesn't work. 2. I connected my iPhone it plays but no sound. Also while connecting, I saw a previously phone was connected to the unit. Did I get a refurb!? And 3. the front camera is blank. So after 2 days of a careful install, I removed the unit. I've emailed the 3 names of the invoice also contacting you because I've spent too much money for this unit not to work properly and also a possible refurb. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, This system supports wireless Apple Carplay and Wireless Android Auto.
How is the sound quality. I have replaced factory head units with aftermarket and many sounded horrible with the factory speaker set up. I have the Sync 3.
The sound quality is excellent, since it retains the factory amps and speakers, The has a digital sound processor so you will actually get more control with the DSP equalizer.

Hello, Yes, steering wheel controls are retained, This is only for the sync 1,2,3, each unit is sync specific so you cannot upgrade to a sync 4

Hello. I have a 2015 Ford Explorer Sport. It originally came with Sync 2, but I upgraded to Sync 3. If I were to order one of these, would I stick with Sync 2,or could I use the Sync 3 module I have now?
You can use your sync 3 system as long as everything worked correctly. Each unit is specific to the sync system you have

@@xaviarlair6775 Do you have Sync 3? If so, all you need to do is plug your iPhone into the USB port. If you have Sync 2, you'll need hardware also. There are videos on here, that can show you how to do it. It's what I did.

So what does the Sync module do? Is it just the hardware or does it also change the software on yhe display? It looks like the display is running android.
The sync module is the factory Ford module that piggybacks the new head unit so you retain ALL of your factory functions including your factory screen.

Yes, it works, I did not have the a/c setting correct when I did the video. All works perfectly

I was not aware but the speaker is for the door chimes, backup sensor etc, the actual Nav runs through the oem speakers

Not sure if you still have this issue, but mine did the same after install. Aucar directed me to hold the physical AC button down for 10 sec and that did the trick.

Yes, When using apple carplay, android auto, and google maps, it runs the nav through the car speakers, the oem nav will run through the external speaker that was added.

I didn't see were to turn on the Steering wheel heater and also the Wide view camara option
The steering wheel warmer is in the factory sync 3 climate control settings, I am not sure about the wide view, I wasn't aware it had that option.
It's not really a big deal to me the wide cam option. as long as that the main cam works. looking at this video the video Quality looks better

This head unit uses a DSP chip, so it will broadcast in HD, If you have a sync 2 or sync 3, this retains your sirius xm, or you can download the app, sign in and stream it, or you can bluetooth from your phone using the sirius xm app, but if you have the sync 2 or 3 they it retains your factory functions.

Yes, All of the factory functions/screens or retained, you just go to the "console" and it takes to you the factory screen which includes the factory controls, or just use the new screen as shown on the bottom, you can control everything but the heated steering wheel, for the steering wheel, you turn it on in the factory functions (shown in my demo video)

This is the ALL NEW 14.4", it is 14.4", This replaced the 13.6", It has a 2k 14.4" screen, yes is looks like the 13.6 but the size has increased to 14.4"
