One of the best KOF bosses because he actually had a crouching animation and crouching attacks in his initial appearance. Okay, all jokes aside about bosses lacking crouching animations Goenitz had one of the biggest impacts on the series. He effectively is the sole reason the Orochi Saga happened, having granted Rugal some Orochi power and having killed the original Yata heir, Maki Kagura, to break the Orochi seal. Hell, even Orochi Yashiro credits him for getting Hakkeshu's plans in motion. Let's also not forget that Goenitz is the reason why Kyo changed his fighting style (after Goenitz utterly curbstomped him on that note, lord knows why Goenitz left the Kusanagi heir alive), why Rugal was such a cheap boss to fight twice over canonically, and why Leona is such a troubled character. Even Rugal killing Heidern's family and most of the NESTS Saga and Tales of Ash Saga bosses can't claim they reached the same level of impact.
He probably didn't kill Kyo because he needed him to awaken Orochi. He just set him on the path that would lead him to that final confrontation with Hakkeshu and Orochi's awakening. And it worked. Until it didn't xD

Also, there's a chance he was revived alongside Team Orochi at the end of XIV with Verse's destruction... I mean, Orochi itself was revived, Team Orochi was revived, Ash Crimsom was revived despite erasing himself from reality, Krizalid and Igniz were implied to be revived, Gaidel (Leona's father) was implied to have been revived but was not located according to Heidern. Heck, Verse even brought fighters from other worlds back to life (Mizuki Rashojin from Samurai Shodown) when defeated.
