    I picked up a 5.1 set of these speakers with a Yamaha receiver from Best Buy Magnolia 4 years ago and absolutely love them. With a small living room/home theater area, they fill it very well and surprise people with powerful and clear sound. I also noticed the Audio Engine A2+ in the background, which make great computer speakers. With both purchases I had to convince the wife that it would be worth it, she even loves both decisions to this day.

    I've had these Pro monitors for, I forget how many years now, and they are still as good as day one.

    I just built a system using these to upgrade my home theatre after using my previous tech for 13 years and OH what a difference. Just looking at your living room, I can tell that you have a much higher budget than me, but it's nice to see people with more money still think like I do. BANG FOR BUCK! And that's the main reason why DefTech rocks. (Well that, and because well, they just ROCK!)
    How's this for bang for buck?: I waited until the DefTech Black Friday sale this past November and bought the Pro Cinema 800 boxed set for a mere $750. That's 4 pro-monitor 800's, 1 pro-center 1000, and a pro-sub 800 subwoofer for just $750! Normally this would cost $1200! Then to flesh it out to an even bigger sound and make it full 7.2 surround, I added 2 pro-monitor 1000's, the 800's bigger brother, for front left and right, and a SECOND pro-sub 800. Total cost of ALL of these speakers was under $1500 US. That is A FREAKING LOT of excellent sound for a grand and a half! I power it with a new Onkyo 110W per channel receiver and it shakes the furniture!
    Screw it, I'm an admitted DefTech fanboi. I like BANG FOR BUCK!

    I use ProMon 800's for my rears as well. Mythos Sevens for the front with an SVS subwoofer. These DefTechs just keep on pumping its been about 7 years or so.

      Same here,I have the 350's an I swear they still are like new!!No issues ever&They're worth every dollar!!I had some Fluance brand for rears&I put those 350's as rear surround & the diffence is HUGE!!😭🤤Probably sell those Fluance hi-def bipolar Elites to a cousin.They're great but not enough bass output.....

  • @genez429
    @genez429 5 лет назад +4

    I once had a pair of 800's on my desktop, using a BBE Sonic Maximizer for linear bass boost. They shook my entire desk! They were too powerful for what I needed. I have listened with bigger speakers, but not as much bass feel to equal. It was a paradox for me. If they did not shake and vibrate the desk like they did, I would have gladly kept them. They had excellent tonal balance!

  • @wrigman
    @wrigman 3 года назад +1

    I use these for side and rear speakers in my 7.1 system. They still hold up with using older Def tech. BP-2002 towers for front and a 2002 center Chanel. The whole system rocks for surround sound provided by an Arcam FMJ 390 avr receiver.

I was Blown away. 😩🔥 Mind you I have Bp8060s as my main LR Crossed over at 60Hz and also a SuperCube III. The Promonitors just have a different sound and warmth to them 👌🏾👌🏾

    I use three Def Tech Mythos Tens for L/R/C and the mid and tweeter look exactly like that pro monitor. I use Gem XL for surround and all my speakers are powered by Emotiva XPA 5 and run by a Yamaha 3080. For subs I use two Subercube Reference with a 13 inch subwoofer.

    FYI, it’s not a research and development team at definitive. It’s Sandy Gross. He co-founded Polk audio speakers and perfected passive bass radiators 35 years ago. These are just enhancement Of his previous incarnations. He sold definitive and then formed golden ear. If you want the best of his work get golden ear speakers instead. Once Sandy sells his companies they just turn into mass produced products with less quality as the new owners usually start by cutting costs. My mom was his assistant in the 80s :-) cool guy and the only person in Maryland that had a Maserati and a DeLorean.

      Thanks. 👍🏻 Yeah, I try to point out any negatives I see but at the same time I’m not going pick something apart just for the sake of doing so. Just try to give a fair honest opinion.
      I usually only do vids on stuff I really dig though. Stuff I think you guys would find value in. So usually not a lot of negatives. If something sucks I normally just don’t a vid on it. 😉

    I have the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 series with a Denon receiver. I really love the satellites, but the center speaker could be a bit bigger. My biggest problem with the PC 600 series is the subwoofer. I really dislike that it doesn't have an always on switch/position. It falls asleep very easily during long quiet periods of movies and games, and doesn't wake up when the receiver is turned on. I sold the subwoofer and bought an SVS SB-1000 subwoofer. It has an always on switch position, and sounds a lot better than the Def Tech subwoofer!

    I have the bigger brothers to these monitors that you reviewed and I will tell you the I am in total agreement on your review about the speaker brand. Unlike you my speakers are being used as my center channel for the reason because I don't have the Room for a standard center channel speaker. Nevertheless I get the same results. As for my surround sound speakers I have the same brand but the model that I use is called BP8040. They are a tower speaker the has a Built-in amplifier for the Sub woofers and I use a 300 W per channel amplifier to drive the mid range and the tweeters of those speakers. And Like what you said I am very very pleased with the sound quality.

    Thank you Thank you & Thank you!!! I been looking for someone to give a review about that model. Actually I looking to buy the pro 1000 & the center channel, I will be powering them with a Denon AVR-3500 and the rear speakers are def tech bipolar speakers I found at a pawn shop for $40. So thanks again

    $300 for a pair is not affordable but stayed until the end because your room is just too awesome!

    New sub... Great review. Time to upgrade to dolby atmos so u can do new speaker reviews. Also about the 140 lb comment ... Tell that to Bruce Lee. He weighed in at 140.

    Great video and review. I have the 600s and im an audiophile an think they're pretty good as long as you use them with the subwoofer as they don't have a lot of low end. Were you testing these without a subwoofer, or with one?

      😂 no, it does kinda look like it though doesn’t it. Under the speaker grill the finish is different than the rest of the body. It is kinda satin finish with shined speckles.

    They r tough speaks. Haaa whoop his azz. Little speaks, bwaaa i got signature series polk audio towers. Haaa yeah they r big but are awesome. Running pioneer elite reciever 7.1. Jvc digifine. Klipsch dual center, difinive surround, jbl gti 10" sub off of phoenix gold usa amp. Its ok. Use bose s1 as bluetooth speak for portability. Keep the power under 40 watts on difinitive speaks rms. These blend well with towers if you ballance the outputs. Dont over drive them thats not the purpose, its the discreet sound that u want from them. Use separate amp to drive ur sub and l n r front channels.
