This week, I made a diorama of a deep sea diver going a little too deep and running into a Giant Dragonfish. I'm a slow learner when it comes to resin, so the first attempt at this diorama failed due to user error. I decided to remake it and I’m gift the second iteration to one of my subscribers!

@@Boylei oh my gosh its boylei!!!!!
@@BoyleiHow's this for an idea for your next build? 1950s military vs a large monster, could ba a large insect,an alien or even godzilla with vibes of crappy B movies of that time period
The second one might be clearer but the first has the more uber deep water spooky vibe. Both look great!
YEAHH!!! The bubbles look like marine snow!! 😊
I think the second is better for glamour shots but the first one is amazing for what it's supposed to be
I wish he had shown the first one with all the room lights off except for the barbel
The murkier the scarier
Great efforts! I actually like the small bubbles. Looks natural.
Despite the first one turning out 'wrong' I like the way it looks. The air bubbles give it an air of mystery and terror. Great job as always! This is one of my favorite channels to watch, it's so relaxing.
I was gonna say the same thing.
same thinking, if ther would be a way to "control" the bubbles... it could be an amazyng add to underwater volcanos or any detail like that
Agreed! It looks like it may have been situated near a volcanic rift, perhaps what initially swallowed up the lost city of gold that the diver is looking for...
Agreed!
it makes it come across as a volcanic area
I think the bubbles almost make the first one far spookier, like the bulk of the sea dragon being obscured leaving most of it up to imagination an the light reflecting all around looks so cool. I can't wait to see more sea creatures in the future, keep it up. 👍
It would be super cool if the diver had a flash light or something to. Just showing a bit more of the monster.
This one really makes me want to pick it up and look at it. . . maybe not what you'd want done if you spent that many hours making it though.
As someone who dives in areas that regularly have bad visibility, the first one really delivers on the spooky feeling that something might be out there just past your range of vision.
As a retired SAT Diver I can truly appreciate that feeling of the unseen at lightless depths. Absolutely diggin it! Well done Sir!
You saw bioluminescence lights at the bottom?? Makes my skin crawl but that’s so awesome! How deep did you dive?
It can't just be me that think the bubbles on that big one actually make it look way more awesome? The clearness of the little one doesn't have the same crazy deep dark underwater vibe... I'd call that first one a major success!
Watching you use the sculpting techniques of North of the Border and Craftsman was such a delight! It's so much fun to see you guys rubbing off on one another. It really gives even more inspiration that we can learn from one another and get better and even adapt techniques to our own styles. Both of the fish look pretty awesome, and resin troubles aside, these are great projects!
Even when you do it “wrong” you do it right, the first model really captures the vibe of being deeeep underwater
Honestly the bubbles make the original diorama extra spooky, I love the atmosphere of that one! So impressive that you can turn around and build a second one, that takes a lot of determination. And for what it's worth, I always share your videos, I think your work is fantastic.
I think that both look awesome! The first one is definitely more spooky and has a Thalassophobia mood to it, and the second one looks pristine and crisp!
Edit: I just shared this with a friend of mine, he loves the way the first one looks!
I love the deep water spooky vibe of the first one. And I love the wild imaginary west. It’s so creative.
Even though the first model turned out “bubbly” I still think it gives a sense of eeriness that one would find at the bottom of the ocean. Thank you for all the wonderful videos!
Ohhh…so sorry about that first build!!! You, however, exemplify how important the journey is, and I’m inspired by your perseverance combined with your patience and humbleness. I love this video! Thanks Boylei!
I'm always in awe with the level of detail you are able to achieve with the miniatures you use. Keep up the awesome work!
Even with bubbles, the first one still looked so good! I'd love to make dioramas like these one day.
The sculpting on the diver was very impressive! Well done as always!
I love the spooky vibe of the first one. It reminds me of actual deep sea footage and you were definitely correct when you called it good.
My brother and I love watching these when we get home from school. You are the reason we have gotten into the world of Dioramas! We also use some of your ideas in our minecraft world to create interesting mini towns and buildings. The production is also great I love how you've progressed since we've started watching you! Boylei is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of Diorama builders youtube has to offer :)
Yes, I also watch him when I get home from school. Best diorama maker out there!
it absolutely warms my heart that Boylei not only shouts out other creators, but then links the ones who have channels and videos in his own video description box. This is how you build a community!
I'm currently in the midst of my first ever resin pour. It's on its 2nd day of curing and it is nerve-wracking checking it each morning for leaks or to see if it is even setting. It's comforting to know that even someone as experienced as you, Boylei, can have problems with it. It means I don't have to beat myself up as much when it inevitably goes wrong
Resin always goes wrong, it’s just how you bounce back :)
The fact that you never shy away from showing your mishaps is one of the things I love about this channel, boylei, and I appreciate your exhaustive and thorough descriptions of the process with that wrt humor. I first started following you because of one of your resin dioramas and this is going to be another good example of it to show my friends. Hopefully they like it as much as I did!
I like the eerie vibe the bubbles give the first one, but I also like the "river" feeling of the second, like you don't have to go deep sea diving, the deep sea comes to you
I personally love the first diorama, the bubbles look a lot like all the deep-sea particulates you see in the water and I think it adds a great spooky authenticity!
It always amazes me how great these turn out. My man is the Bob Ross of dioramas.
Bob Ross’s painting skills wasn’t actually anything special, it was his communication and teaching skills that made him special.
Lots of people could paint better, very very few could teach like him
The diver mini is incredible. Great sculpting.
They are both amazing. Even with the bubbles, that first one gives a much deeper ambiance, but the second is much easier to see the detail. Hard to pick a favorite between them. Your sculpting is getting MUCH better, too. Nice job on both!
I actually really like the look that the bubbles gave the first one. You have amazing dedication to go through with making a second one.
Seriously, for the first time in years of watching you, I felt dread and anxiety during the deep pour resin for some reason and the piano music somehow made it worse. But we all make mistakes and you posting yours gives all of us confidence in ourselves, we just gotta learn from our mistakes.
I love how casually he makes these incredible sculptures to place in his incredible dioramas...
I've shared this with my boyfriend because he knows how obsessed I am with these videos 😂
Honestly the first one looks leaps and bounds better. I don’t think it would have looked as good without the bubbles! That’s part of the horror of the deep sea. The unending black, having no idea what could be even a few inches away. Good stuff!
I´m always amazed by your painting skills and how you manage to get so much life in your dioramas by just putting on some color and shadows.
Great video even if the first build didn´t turn out as planned.
I look forward to your posts every Sunday morning. Kinda reminds me of being a kid again on Saturday mornings, in front of the TV waiting for cartoons to start. Your creativity is boundless and your humbleness is greatly appreciated. Keep up that outstanding work.
I guess sometimes its not always about the finished product, its about the time and effort put into making the final product. I love the effort that you’ve put into the first one and how detailed it was, even though we can’t fully see it. It was worth it in my opinion.
ngl, the original one feels really scary because you can see the lit up barbell clearly and the fish, as well as being able to just make out the diver. It really has its own mood to it, and I love it!
I was just refreshing your RUclips channel and here it comes, great video, great idea, I love it!
There's something hypnotic about the way you make and poor the resin, I never get tired of it. I almost think the bubbles enhance the first build.
I like that you still showed us the one you felt was not up to your usual standards... And I agree with carrie, that the bubbles make the water look spooky and atmospheric! I love them both!
My daughter and I watch your videos every week. We absolutely love the adventures that your dioramas take us on!
These wild west dioramas are so great!! Maybe some fall/winter themed ones for the season?
I appreciate the effort to make two projects this week. I love your dialogue, camera work, and story-telling Boylei. Thank you.
I like that the bubbles obscure the monster. It makes it more horror. Sometimes less is more, especially in horror, like alien.
It’s a shame about the first ones bubbles but it still looks incredible.
As always: “Have an awesome week everyone”
Man resin is so tricky to work with and has so many steps, regardless, you have mad talent and I can't wait for a wild imaginary west book of some sort!
I so appreciate the amount of work you put into these and have learned so much about your creative process. I also appreciate the fact that you show when things don’t go quite right. A lot of people think that creative work is done perfectly every time. And that’s not what happens in real life. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful imagination.
My 7yo son and I watch your videos every week! You do amazing work, and we always look forward to them!
loving the dry commentary and awesome imagination; i've watched all the videos and learnt so many brilliant techniques that I'm re-watching them all again as its inspired me to start making things again after a 25 year hiatus and it has rekindled a passion that I'd forgotten i had. Thank you so much! To watch someone as talented fail, retry and succeed is a joyful thing - please please keep making these incredible things...!
I have to say I love the Wild Imaginary West series. It always amazes my what you and your Patreons come up with. Beautiful build ♥
This has to be one of my favorite builds you have done! To me the bubbles actually add to the atmosphere, making it a lot scarier. It's a shame you had to make multiple, though, but the second one also looks incredible! Great work as always, I can't wait for your next project!!!
I would love to see you create multiple dioramas of your sea creatures able to fit together like your imaginary wild west town build.
These are BOTH super cool!
I actually like the one with all of the bubbles - it makes it look like what happens when you disturb the sea floor! Gives it some texture to the consistency of the water!
Honestly I really love the way the first one turned out, much more mysterious with how dark and almost shrouded the bubbles make everything, really amazing job on both dioramas as always boylei! :)
I am genuinely in awe that you managed to get the 2nd one done in time - great work and hopefully next time the resin plays nicer :))
this imaginary wild west keeps getting better and better. i love hearing all the new lore bits each video
the bubbles make it look like marine snow which definitely adds to the spooky vibes
As a seasoned follower, I’m always impressed by the commitment to detail in every piece you make. Your Wild West series is what drew me in. I agree with many members here that the first bubbly piece wasn’t entirely “a failure”, but I understand how it could be structurally flawed. It’s because of your video and those of CraftMan and North of the border that I hope I’ll get into making dioramas some day
Just gotta say, I love the world you build with all these models and kits. It feels so fresh and expansive and the story telling for each and every diorama is just so captivating to me. Keep up the great work! ❤
I honestly really like the bubbles in the first one, it adds to the mystery and is an additional creepy factor.
Even with the bubbles, it still looks pretty decent. The sculpting on the diver was great!
Love what you do on your channel. You brought our entire family into your circle of crafters! Thanks for doing what you do and showing us we all continually learn as we work!!
Nice job! I like how much this Wild Imaginary West has always been influenced by natural life as it adds a whole other dimension to the work you've created.
The honesty is the best thing, having a channel where you create and share things but also show possible mistakes that others can learn from makes a great creator. Sharing this one too, you should do more sea creature builds! Subnautica horror style
I always thought having some bubbles made the whole under water vibe feel more real. But either way, very cool diorama. :)
This is insanely cool! I love sea creatures and am actually working on plans for a full sleeve tattoo of them! I had never heard of these little guys and I’m so happy to have learned about them from you! I can’t wait to do more research! :))
Resin is so challenging! But you certainly recovered well from the "warm up" build. Creative and spooky and awesome build.
The first one is def my favorite. The bubbles obscure the scene causing your brain to fill in the "unknown"
The clear resin makes the water look shallow, whereas the bubbles add a sense of depth and terror.
Love this one‼️
wow im now watching the video but the thumbnail looks AMAZING! love your stuff
I really think they are both good in their own way. One is more under the deep and spooky, while the other is more clear and clean.
The details on the diver are just insane!! 😮 Like HOW do you sculpt a whole human that tiny?? Amazing dude
AHHHH! They both look so good, honestly amazed by your skills in so many different crafting mediums 😊
I love both of them tbh, you are so talented in crafting and I’m so excited to see you doing more sculpting!! ❤
That's an awesome project, and honestly with all the little bubbles clouding the first one, I do believe it gives it more of that dark unclear, unsettling vibe that the bottom of the ocean gives
I actually like the first one a lot more. The tiny bubbles partly obscure the monster which adds and helps a lot with the creepy sea monster factor and just overall look of the finished piece.
Beautiful artwork everyone! So cool! ❤You all have some serious talent!
Love your stuff man, this one looks so cool already ❤
They both look great. While the first one didn't turn out the way you wanted, I really like the chaos of it. It feels like churned up sand and general deep sea detritus.
The bubbles on the first one makes it even more realistic I think! Like the fish is stirring up all the water before it attacks
I think both projects are amazing . Your sculpting skills are fantastic! The details on the diver are impressive.
I kinda like the first one, it feels like those bubbles give it a dreaded feeling like you're underway with Hans and you turn around to see this unfolding before your terrified eyes. Going to recommend this to my step dad and even my grandparents since they have been starting to watch some dioramas videos on RUclips now.
The Microbubbles are kinda cool on the first one, it makes it feel more underwater and adds the illusion of movement.
What impressed me the most about this diorama was the miniature scuba Steve you essentially did from scratch 😮
It's because of you that inspired me to get into crafting. Your work with resin has cropped up an idea that I've had since I was a wee lad living near a swamp. Thank you for showing this to us, and for helping others become inspired with your work!
honestly the first one was still pretty cool. def gave a murky underwater feel with the bubbles obscuring the visibility, and I think the light on the end of the fish would stand out more.
The bubbles add a level of eeriness to the diorama. I like it!
My 6 yr old and I always look forward to watching your videos together.
I think the best part about this video is you telling people about the mistake you made, resin is not cheap so thank you and I love your work!!
I love how you show things going wrong, it's super honest and very helpful to anyone else who tries tricky projects. The sculp of teh deep sea diver was excellent too!
I like the first one just a bit better. The bubbles give it an even more terrifying look to it. Keep up the great work
I've been watching this channel for a while now and it is by far my favorite hobby channel. I love the work and the humor is my kind of humor.
i like the bubbly one. it's like they're on a bed of soul sand or near volcanic vents. the water just does that
I really find the imaginary Wild West interesting. It makes me feel all creative thinking about all the stories that could be told in it.
honestly when i see the errors with bubbles, it just makes me think of all the sediment and micro life swimming around down in the ocean water. i think the first one still looked amazing and id be happy to have the clear one but i would not be upset to display the big " ruined one" either! Good work Boylei!!
Technically two projects in one video. Boilei, you are a God amongst men.
Man! There is so much ingenuity in these 12 minutes, it is mind boggling! The design of the fish, the execution of making it out of clay, the wiring, the paint job, the rocks, the base, the sculpting of the diver from greenstuff the story telling! Ingenious! It's really a pity the first one didn't come out as planned, though. Anyway, great work right there! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The little diver was so detailed. I am always fascinated at how you're to make art that small. Very nice.
I honestly think the first one evokes a more volcanic region of the sea floor with the bubbles in tandem with the almost hydrothermal vent looking rocks, and hey, that all ties in with you saying it takes place off the coast of California, with it being a part of the Ring of Fire. Almost makes the build work all the better, but it certainly makes the encounter more terrifying! Love your builds, and I can’t wait for more!
Tbh the bubbles actually give it that volcanoey style that you might find around cali which looks good.
