3d printing is great and you can really make some cool stuff very quickly, but I feel like people sometimes overlook how fun something like gussying up a dollar tree store toy like this can be. Plus you always get a one-of-a-kind mini, even if it's ability to stand upright unassisted is... dubious 😂
Ive seen this very same toy turned into different monsters for the tabletop. Theres even a video on here turning it into a troll (i think) using hot glue iirc. Great to see another take and from the king himself. It would be great to see a video compilating all your conversions for creatures.
Fun Fact: Dollar Tree’s website lets you buy things by the case and pick them up at your local store. For example, I looked up this particular toy and a case comes with two versions of that guy and a mech. 24 assorted figures for $30.
"Won't base it because it stands on it's own!" [Falls down] [I die of laughter] Excellent job! That's a nasty critter right there! And yet again i love seeing the first reactions of people to the Speedpaints range :D
Oh, I turned mine into a techno demon. Two demonic autocannons grafted onto it's back as something birthed from the horrors of war and doom references.
For wings, a good option is to look at the more glossy tissue paper of the kind you normally see sold for gift bags and boxes (and several things come with there) for a layer over the top. It tends to remove more of the texture there
So I found this same toy at my dollar store a couple years ago when I was first getting into the hobby and he’s about halfway converted to a daemon prince but I lost steam. You are an inspiration to finish my projects! I appreciate you bud!
I gotta say, what impressed me the most was you pulling out the old school Tanar'ri. That made these old Grognark ears happy. I've been playing since there was only Basic and Advanced. Back when Ral Partha was the big one for minis. I just stopped playing/DMing 2nd and got into 5E a few years ago. DMed my first Homebrew 5E One Shot over the last few weeks. I've been following you and Black Magic Craft down the RUclips Rabbit Hole for the last few weeks also, and seriously thinking about getting into the Crafting part now. The only problem I have is ever since the "Plague of 2020" happened, we have been playing strictly online. Our group is mostly local, but I have a few players in other states now. Discord, Fantasy Grounds, and Owlbear Rodeo doesn't lend itself well to working with physical minis. I may say the heck with it and just use what I'm learning from you guys to make things just for me. Someday we may play at a table again, and if we do I'll be ready!
I love seeing these diy and papercraft tutorials. So creative and something anyone can do without a 3d printer. There is just something especially satisfying to me to craft like this. Love your work!
Man, that turned out great. The hot glue for the fire was a nice trick and really turned out nice. I love the Final Faction line. I've used it to kitbash a few alien monsters for Stargrave and the accessory packs can be used for so much. I'll be using our little friend you have, along with several other toys from the line, to create Horrors for the upcoming game The Doomed. He will fill in for the Abyssal Colossus. I bet that toy would make a good proxy for a Khorne demon, or even the Cyberdemon from DOOM.
This was a cool build! TBH there's a lot of dollar tree figurines that make great little projects. Ive turned the 'Final faction' blue robot guy into a Gundam zaku, and am working on making one of the"your action hero" robots into a Gundam (just gotta make them longer legs).
Yeah I still haven't gotten around to kitbashing my Kharne toys into demons... Glad I waited though, as I never even thought to cut the toes off to make hooves. And if that paper towel texture bothers you, get you some flexible modeling paste, mix with yellow paint to make the base for flames and set those wings on fire! Figuratively speaking, of course ^_^
One thing I have always loved about balor lore is how there are more demon lords than balors. Which, of course is total nonsense if you stop for more tha a second and put thought into it. There are 666 known layers of the abyss so even if a tenth of them had a lord, they still outnumber the amount of balors.
Great job as always Master Wyloch on the kitbash I also have a Karn and some other final faction action figures I bought from a few months back. There is a RUclipsr by the Name of Broken Terrain that clued me into final faction he had made a giant goblin siege monster thing. Also you'll love the speeds paints just a tip if you seal then you can add addition washes because they do rehydrate
It's not unless you want to be sued by the tolkien estate. That's why the name balor, treant and halfling started to be used instead of balrog, ent and hobbit in D&D.

Handmade is always better, its unique like an art. :-)

It's amazing to see how many different types of monsters were made from these dollar story toys!

The paper towel texture on the wings kind of reads as a rough/scaley surface to me so I think it works in favor of the model.
each citadel skull increased the budget of the project by a full factor

Considering he saw it walking through the Dollar Tree, one might think it could stand on its own, as well. =^[.]~=

That fall just plain destroyed me😂
Oh, I turned mine into a techno demon. Two demonic autocannons grafted onto it's back as something birthed from the horrors of war and doom references.
Making it into an OG Doom Cyberdemon is what I am doing to mine as well.
0:55. the comedic timing on that Balor.
The point in which the horns attach make it look like he got a big mustache lol
Great kit-bash sir! I especially appreciated your magical sword effect.
Little tip I learned...and I've never had issues with yellow since. Base coat with pink...and then your yellow. Works a charm!
"It's stands on its own!

Yoooou shall not pass! Oh wait that's a Balrog. Awesome stuff man!

Or Up&Up brand diaper wipes. It has no printed texture and is a bit stronger than paper towel
Also the foil wrappers for Klondike bars...make for great canvas texture.

Great quick conversion, Wyloch. That’s a brilliant red paint, for sure! I love the flaming whip the most. Those flames are great!
Wow! This turned out brilliant!! One of my favourites of your recent work! 😊love the way you created the fire 🔥 looks fantastic!
I like the range of techniques used to make the balor. I recognize a few from watching the backlog of your fellow craft masters.

That's an awesome kitbash! The whip and the effect you got on the sword are ace :D

That whip is great, I can feel the heat coming off my monitor.
Thank you. You've just solved my wing problem on a dragon born being made out of an old Ken doll. As well as tail
Just a little FYI, The Final Faction line is made soley for Dollar Tree as their in store toy line. Also, very nice build. I love your project ideas.
Would make a decent daemon prince.
"Stands on it own... oh fu..." 😂😂
the paper towel trick turned out great, i rly liked this! good video as always :D
I did a custom on that a while back, I knew you would do something awesome
Really liked the creativity with using hot glue for fire.
Great build overall, but that flaming whip is pretty darn cool.
I like the wings, looks rock like! Good technique for rock monsters

I thank ye oh lord of crafting, god of a kitbash and destroyer of doubts.
My toddler loves final faction!
Thank you!
I saw these at dollar tree yesterday. They had 3 different monsters in stock. I got 1 of each.

Magical silicone mat! Very cool customization
Also, that sword looks great and that's a neat quick method
Balor's derpy brother kinda - but nice option on a budget. I love the faming whip tho!
Only three teeth. Hillbilly Balor
Awesome job the only critique I have is you should have mixed the paint with the PVA glue for the wings.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍

Hey! I have that figure! I like what you've done with it. Very cool. ⚔
This came out awesome!!!

That looks really cool the wings could have been better but overall I like it great work!
Way cool! Love your channel!
That looks amazing
If you look on the back of the packages they show exactly which figure the accessories go with.
Love that sword
that red paint does some heavy lifting haha
I would recommend parchment paper over wax. I was making some funky mushroom out of hot glue recently and they stuck to wax paper unfortunately
against all physics, this stands on the ground! (...) *clonk* 🤣🤣🤣
I believe Final Faction is a Dollar Tree exclusive.
Looks good.
Love this
whip it good! groovy build
Cool demon! Is like to see your take on a Gelatinous Cube. Would it be solid hot glue or something else?
Yeah think im gona try that whip with an optical fibre strand and translucent paint. He wont notice a battery up his ass. Wicked build dude.
again, great content! You must have built up quite a tolerance against hot glue though... Around 2.30 my own fingertips were sizzling ^^
Yup got 1 mm calluses.
@@WylochsArmory a titan ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
In which video do you discuss on how to prevent your dungeon tiles from warping? I watch the video some time ago and can't seem to find it again.
Many of them. It's simple though, just paint a layer of white pva glue on the bottom and leave face up to dry for 24 to 36 hours. Warping undone.
@@WylochsArmory thank you!
That looks more like a Balrog.
That's what a Balor is based off. It's a direct ripoff of the Balrog.
AWESOME MODEL! GONNA RANT HERE! Gunmetal should black or blued, black color! NOT SILVER!
Nifty
So... Balor is a typoed Balrog?
No but it is a direct ripoff of the Balrog.

Interchangable. DnD Balors are a direct ripoff of Tolkien's Balrog.
