  • When bow hunting in heavily pressured areas for mature bucks, an absolute minimum of 95% of your hunts are going to be unsuccessful. But you have to accept the bad with the good because your not on a canned hunt as seen on TV and many RUclips videos filmed on managed properties where opportunities seem to be and usually do happen every few hunts. I get a kick out of the proverbial hunting personalities saying, "I hunted hard for 3 days to get this opportunity". What a joke!!!
In the first part of this short video, I had already taken a Michigan buck and the corn was still standing, the weather was hot and my cell cam pics of the only shooter buck I had to chase was coming in after dark, so I blew off hunting and went fishing and show the results.
The first hunt was from an extremely leaning tree that could likely only be hunted in using a saddle and screw in steps. No way sticks could work in this tree and of course as always, I used a ring of steps with the steps on the backside of the tree being considerably higher than those on the front that I was standing on during the hunt. I only saw a couple does and a fawn.
The second hunt was in the rain and was totally uneventful. I hate using the word uneventful, because no time spent in nature is uneventful, unsuccessful yes, uneventful, NEVER.

Just curious John, why is your back bar on the right side of the bow? it’s usually on the left side of the bow to offset the weight of the sight and rest. Just curious about your reasoning for it! Thanks love your content!

That's a great message to share. You won't always succeed, but if you stick to it the odds will eventually play in your favor. I have always appreciated the consistency of what you teach.
