More news is coming out about Klay Thompson potentially not returning to the Warriors next season. This time his ex-GM Bob Myers is backup up the rumors. This is a look at how serious Warrior fans should take the news and where Klay could end up next. - Спорт
He’s not who he was, he can’t expect another max. He got the pity max when he was injured. Probably not going to happen again.
How is he not who he once was
@juandegruy9483 Do you still consider him a max player?
The Warriors should just let him go. It's win-win situation for him and the team. The Warriors could easily find a better player for a max than Klay and his salary will be higher anywhere. What's the motivation to stay there ? A few more rings as a 3rd option ? Ha has never ever been selected into the All Nba 2nd team.
I think he’s gonna retire a warrior and take a hella pay cut. We’ll see how it goes
@@paulwall7045 yeah I’m not gonna hold just the playoffs against him he and curry didn’t have any help plus he was just returning to his old self and the playoffs considering he didn’t have a training camp he was ease back anyone could see his timing was off
Just take the Wiggins route. 3 yrs, 23-25 per. Retire a Warrior.
Klay had 2 solid years of getting paid while rehabbing from his injury.
Klay can win a ring somewhere all he has to do is land in right place think Denver or Milwaukee be perfect
they dont need an egoistic klay@@staydiligent7325
@@staydiligent7325 they wont want him now...he will shoot them out of the finals
Either he is gonna take a paycut or leave. Warriors not maxing him that’s why Bob Myers didn’t want to be a part of it. Didn’t want to hurt his relationship with Klay
Klay's not going anywhere. The Warriors will let Klay determine his worth shopping around the NBA marketplace, then ownership will offer him a slight hometown discount.
Dallas would give klay the bag💪🏿and no state tax🤙🏿

Klay should prove he is worth that max contract (or like a 3 year deal) before they let him sign. ESPN just doesn't have headlines.
Even if he had a great year, there's zero chance he remains worth a max contract. Not even close.
@@jdunnatlwhat's a fair amount?
@@almac9203 I wouldn't pay more than low 20s given his age and health. He's missed a lot of games. They really need a tall rebounder/defender.

Good video. Really like that you emphasized how Dunleavy has successfully dealt with challenges pre klay contract for warriors
Of note, Parker did not leave San Antonio because they wouldn't pay him. He left S.A. because the organization wanted to develop the young guys like Dejounte Murray and Derrick White, while Parker served as a veteran mentor. Parker did not want that role, so he left for Charlotte. San Antonio could have paid him what Charlotte paid him, but Parker just felt that he had more to contribute than as a veteran mentor, and S.A. did not want to lose that time not developing their young guys.
warriors really don’t have young guys anymore
And he wanted to play for Michael Jordan
@@bobsinclair8046 Kuminga, Moody? Podz? Trayce Jackson-Davis? The first two are young af and expected to play more minutes.
Tony left because he repeated a dopey media article saying his injury was worse than Kawhi’s AND San Antonio offered him up in an attempt to persuade Kawhi to stay.
@@wyliegarcia5965 Uh, don't know where you got that information from. No one in the Big 3 was subject to trades.
Thank You!!!! I had the same exact thought when I watched this. Like, WTF they talking about "first test", the team literally just went through this with the Draymond contract.
And other things before that...crazyness
Legacy sports media are a bunch of clowns. The worst thing is hearing Bob Myers himself saying it, wtf
@@AMHoopsIt's ESPN. They have to make it sound dramatic for views. It's their jobs lol. You took it to heart.
As a Warriors fan, no to a Klay extension. At this point in his career Klay should be a 3rd or 4th option (not second or third like he's used to) and should be getting less minutes and percentage of the salary cap. I would rather move onto more minutes for Kunminga, Moody, and Podezmik.
Yea give them to Kuminga
either he gets a vet minium and goes to the bench or he is out
Who tf is Podezmik real “warrior fan” 😹😹😹
I believe the Warriors offered Klay Thompson a 2-Year contract at $24 million per year and Klay Thompson turned them down. He also asked a reporter "Oh you want the Warriors to bench me". Well yes you may be asked to come off the bench or bye-bye. We will see.
Yo do a great job with this video. My admiration for your good work. 🎉
There’s no telling what Klay turns into if he’s not a warrior, but there’s now no telling what he turns into if he stays or goes

he basically saying the same talking points like every other NBA channel . he happens to get more veiws that's it.
I love Klay and he is one of the best shooters in the game and still plays pretty good defense in half court sets, but he is having trouble running the court. Lou Williams, Jordan Crawford are examples of 6th men who are valued for shooting but not great defense. Klay is there now.
yeah but they were playmakers and had more skill and could operate on different offenses. Klay is only used to small ball and we've seen in FIBA Cup that small doesn't work anymore.
@@EliCarlos-mv2ivI agree 💯 dey were playmakers 💯 klay is not that . More like a spot up shooter 💯

agree...Poole was traded to free up money for Dray and Klay. it may get uncomfortable but I believe Klay will take the discount like Dray and remain with the Warriors.
AM Hoops's intros are the best
Klay isn't the player he once was. Even if he becomes a FA, teams are probably going to offer him less than whatever the Warriors would give him. He'll turn 35 next season, has had Achilles and ACL tears, hamstring issues, can't play defense like he once could. I just don't see him playing at age 38 or 39. He has maybe 3 years left. A 3 year 90 million contract seems realistic.
Bro Houston have van vleet more than that. Don’t be surprised if a team manages to give him a max.
Ok, I won't be surprised. I can see him fitting in with a team like the Lakers or Celtics, even the 76ers. A team that just needs a solid 3 point threat. I think he wants to be a Warrior for life though. @@mrawesome7175
I agree, he's damaged goods and aging. He's not anywhere close to where he was before...
Klay was out for two years to injury and spent the entirety of the 2022-23 season fighting to fully regain his basketball instincts. Now with a full season of play behind him, a full offseason, and now a full preseason, I have no doubt we'll see Klay perform closer to his original standards before the injuries. But, like every player, he needs the minutes and reps to prove he's still worth his starting position and the kind of money he's asking for. He knows how valuable he is to this franchise. He knows how much the fans love him. And he knows how much the coaching staff and other team staff love him. This season is going to be Klay's chance to prove himself and earn the paycheck he wants from management. I believe he can do it. He knows the work he has ahead of him. And he's got the work ethic and mentality of a champion to get there. Let's go Klay!!
Hey pal it’s been 2weeks hope u feel great wasting your time to write a whole paragraph 2weeks ago to only get 2 likes 😂😂😂😂😂
Call me crazy, but I believe Klay has a lot left. He's gotta reinvent his game a bit. Start playing in the post, shoot more mid rang and come off screens sparingly. He can't run around like it's 15-16 Klay.
What made Klay special was not only the 3 point shooting but the elite 2 way ability, and clearly his great defense will never come back which takes away a lot of his value... You now have to hide him on defense because he can't take on those defensive challenges anymore, those belong to Wiggins...
@@nextlevel9063he still an average at best defensively u don't have to hide him
@@darwinmiclis2342 he's a negative on defense he was getting abused by Austin Reeves, Dlo and Walker last year in the playoffs.... There's a reason Kerr wants him to guard 4s this season and not the quick guards or elite wings in the league.....this is not the same Klay!
He does have lots left - all you need do is evolve his game and play more like Paul Pierce. Klay defensively is still as good as Paul was and about the same size. As good a defender as Allen Houston was and run what Knicks ran for him
Fox having Klay or Keegan interchangeably to get him a bucket sounds dangerous

@salsalislife6351Dont worry draymond will make the shot on his face soon out of jealousy and insecurity just like what he did with Poole.
I’d be happy with anything I get in a contract at that age in my NBA career. To continue playing is a blessing and at this point I’d be focusing on my body way more than LBJ focuses on his body. I’d make sure my body can sustain on the floor long into my 40’s. Shoot, I’d take $2million just to stay with GSW and be on floor. MJ didn’t get that much money, but he made his from endorsements and other stuff. 🤷 just my opinion
I'm pretty sure when MJ was his age he was making 30 million(with Inflation it's prolly 150 million of current day dollars)
I love klay thompson as a player, he is deffinitly not what he once was and we can't expect him to be, butthe reason people love him is his loyalty and work ethic for the game, it still bothers me people think he still has something to prove, in 1 way their and in other ways their wrong, he might need to play really well early in the season just to get the max
well he is worse rn
AM Hoops, you remind me of junior high gossip platoon
Parker wanted to see what it would be like to play for another organization and to be around Michael Jordan. Also, the money was good.
Draymond had slim pickings to choose from in Free Agency everyone knew he was coming back. Klays play style could fit in anywhere and will have a lot more options
if i am a gm on tanking team, i would pick him up for 25mil/2 year. For a contending team, if he is willing to come off the bench, i would give him 15mil/2 years
Klay literally just said he’s not expecting a max deal. Why would he go anywhere?
Great video
AM Hoops is my favourite channel to watch while on the toilet
i think the problem with this assessmnent is you've made it seem like a personal decision...'how much is klay worth'.. that sort of thing. the decision and hesitancy from the warriors is not about that.. it's largely about the new CBA, and how much teams can spend under the new rules.
If Steph says Klay must stay then Klay stays. Simple as that.
Cringe curry fanboy
Sorry for making fun of your eyebrows a few years ago when you just started your channel. You're a good dude.
Klay to Washington with Poole and kuzma would be a plot twist I’d never expect
7:04 Steph will be pissed if the Warriors don't sign him to something
the only way klay's gonna get his max dough is for steph to donate half his salary 😂

I love this guys vibe and his little corner for some reason! 😂
I excepted a dray type deal for klay but maybe for like fifteen to twenty mill
Bummer that they traded Poole but ig if they trade Chris Paul at the deadline then maybe the dubs can win that fifth ring
It seems like I need to buy Klay's jersey and have it framed, God willing!
Klay is the reason why I believed that a late bloomer like me in playing basketball has a place.
He is the reason why I didn't aspire to be a ball handler.
He showed me that I can dominate even without the ball in my hands and be useful for the victory of our team.
Shout out to my wife who first said to pattern my game after Klay.
That's why Klay will forever be my favorite basketball player on the face of the earth. 👌🌊
I believe in the bonds between those GSW guys. Klay would surely understand that and take a pay cut, but how much of a pay cut will depend on how he perform in the playoffs this year
Casey’s TV people impression= *with a deep voice* the first real test
Me=😂
I think Klay was in his head in the playoffs he was just pulling and wasn’t getting his drives to the basket like he used to. Remember everyone on the warriors played awful in the post season besides curry cause they barely played together that season. But I think this season will be big for His future will probably be the level he stays at
i think its more that his skillsets are gone now
If Steph has anything to say about it Klay will get a new contract and Curry speaks volumes.
I think he can easily be worth 25 or 30 million after this season and I hope they keep him. However as a Sixers fan I wouldn’t mind having him over here.
can you take him right now lol...if you think he is worth 25-30mil rn just give us a 2nd round pick and a big:)
omg i was thinking and picturing klay in a spurs jersey just as you said that lmao! 8:52
only real warriors fan wants klay to stay. are you blind on his stats and loyalty in 2022 when he just came back from injury. i think this season is a special time for klay and i watch the preseason games his defense is getting better. Klay is a part of the core. chemistry is everything on the court.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i trust woj especially with warriors stuff, he did predict KD signing with the dubs four months prior to it happening
Good take. This is and has always been gonna be a problem for Klay. I thought that the time they lost to the raptors he will opt out and start building his own legacy outside splash bros
He is worth 25-30 million. They should just put him a on a 2-3 year deal
Primo video get deleted?
The Poole trade was to clear money to offer Kuminga the MAX!! He will earn it and Moody will earn a respectable Wiggins level contract. The Warriors traded Poole to save money for those guys. I would love to keep Klay, but it's not happening unless he takes a pay cut.
i think he's being offered 17 or 18. but he will not take less money than draymond but klay is a realist and knows he isn't worth as much as wiggins, at this point in his career. especially when his legs are still suspect 2 years into his comeback (his shooting form is all over the place once his legs are shot, especially late into the season/postseason).
klay wants his money because he scratched and clawed his way back in what could have been his worst season and turned it into arguably his best scoring season. just imagine how good he had to be to get those averages and shooting splits back up.
Klay got paid the big bucks when he was hurt. If he’s forgotten, they need to remind him. I think he’ll take a pay cut in the $20M range to retire a Warrior. #Dubs 👊🏽

Jesus loves you and may God bless you..
4 chips. An ACL and then an achilies. Still a crucial member of the DUBS 4th team,. But huh? Can you blame them? Klay Is my second favourite player ever behind Dirk. And no way is he getting a full max extension at 33 on a team with Steph and Dray(who's max is peanuts comparatively). It doesn't work like that. If he does , great. I would love it. Klay should get whatever is coming to him. But is that their route to get another ring, prolly not... But the 2014 Spurs also exist... but even as my favourite modern player of all time, I can't expect him at that level anymore man....
klay last year 21.9ppg 41% 3pts. He's not lock down defender in his younger days but still serviceable. he's worth 25M$ imho.
The Parker situation is the perfect comparison
18 to 20 per year max. His legs are gone and he can't stay in front of the best wing players anymore and that's means one of his best attributes is now gone. Yes he can still shoot but when a great shooter looses his legs he becomes a good or ok shooter and no longer at an all-star or all NBA level. If he wants to stay in Golden State he has to come to terms with the fact that he is not that guy anymore and understand a contract under 20k per year can give him an extra year to balance it out for him. If he balls out gets a max contact then goes back to a less than all-star level it will kill his legacy in Golden State because it will turn the fans against him and he doesn't want that.
Send Klay and Harden to Houston, we'll take em both💪🏾💪🏾
Klay Thompson has a very small chance of going to Milwaukee Phoenix or Charlotte but it is still possible
Plus that CP3 contact is over this year.
He still better than half the guys that have max deals.
I don't get what's complicated about it they played 82 games and he made the most threes in the league all Shooters are going to shoot and go through slumps and take bad shots occasionally but he's also career 20 ppg scorer at 40% from 3 and 6'7 good strength and willing and able Defender maybe not once what he was but he can still play great team defense and knows the warriors system knows Steph and Dray and he has given his career to the the warriors they need to do like 4 years one for each championship 4yrs 96mil 24/year plus incentives or he will go somewhere else and get it I hate to say it but imagine Klay on Memphis or with LeBron an AD believe me klays still got 100million worth of ball left and someone else i think would scoop klay in a heartbeat he's a solid proven piece to a championship squad.
If people want an example of a greatest player to ever play a sport Tom Brady is a perfect example. He left a whole bunch of money on the table to insure that he had the proper players around him to compliment his skill set. He only asked management to consult with him in who they were getting. He knew when they stopped talking to him it was time to move on. Klay at the end of the day will come to his senses and give the team a friendly contract and retire a warrior.
Klay wants to be a warrior and all Bob said was that the potential of saying "no" to the guys he's gotten to know is why he retired. He did not want to be the one to potentially break up the core.
Klay is re-signing or getting extended at a lower deal. Both have intentions for him to stay, its a matter of years and money which is made complicated due to the 2nd tax apron.
Klay is the original splash brother. Dont forget that
Now he's the original washed brother
Imo, if the warriors won't sign him 2 things will happen. 1. He either goes to another team and just disappears as a role player. 2. He retires. I think 2 is the most likely option because Klay right now is not a 1st option player. Maybe back in 2017,2018 maybe. But Klay now is just getting pity points. He's injury prone and isn't getting much younger. Plus teams now can't run the same gameplan as the warriors have. We've seen that small ball isn't working anymore and Klay can only work with that type of offense.
Losing years to injury, let alone taking 2 years off to rest, sets you back big time in competitive sports. In professional sports it’s a death sentence for most. Your rivals are continuously improving at a competitive level. This is compounded when you get to 32 plus years old.
U said this for Harden too. We not watching clickbait videos.
He has to stay
The Warriors are doing themselves a favor if they would and should give him an extension. Klay won't worry about it while playing, when he's next five years depends on how he will play this season.
the Lakers welcome you Klay , Bron gotta need the best shooter to win another ring
$15m a year? The horror! How will he able to survive?
Bob myers is a front runner. The pieces were in place and jerry west advised against trading klay
Warriors needs to play this the right way. Money is important but Klay wants the respect and he deserves all the respect. Just don’t put him in a spot where he has to say no. It is very tricky by the sounds of it. Klay should retire as a Warrior.
I think a good middle ground is a one year ten million dollar extension and if he performs then he can make more
Mam warriors waited the year out for Steph, they do that to balance the books, same thing happened with Green
Bro would honestly not mind retiring and chilling w his dog.
how were you a tv guy?
Damn. I'd sub to you again if I could just for frequently telling the truth. Pretty solid overview imo, esp with the "reward contract." 68m for almost nothing....yikes. At the end of the day, I too think he'll somehow remain a Dub.

Klays heart will remain with Warriors.
01:00 he is right. No idea why they're calling it the 1st real test. And SA & Wilbon, I expected better from because they should have said hell no it isn't. Draymond's future was up in the air just months ago.
klay thompson is still great player averaging 21 points and a part of the core. the chemistry is hard to find if gsw lose him the core will be crippled as well as he say he can take a pay cut.
I can see him take less money to stay a warrior
Fyi he's not asking for more, he's is willing to negotiate. For sure he will be warriors forever.
Nah. Draymond wasn't a test. Draymond is glue. If the Warriors lost Draymond they lost their best defender, top playmaker, and vocal leader of the team. A shifty guard that can score and cant defend ( like Poole) is dime a dozen in the NBA . You can always find a player like Poole. Plus the Warriors have Kuminga putting up similar numbers . And is a better rebounder and defender than Poole is.
You cannot just replace a player like Draymond.

The secret ingredient to a lot of the warriors success is that klay and steph are both very humble (at least compared to other super stars).
