    Isn't it % versus ‰ ie 1/100 vs 1/1000 ? So it's 10* better?

      This is actually a very bad practice to change units on a table like that... The purpose of a table is to be able to compare between elements and have a overview.

    Any overshoot/ringing testing when turning the output on with a load attached? Would be nice to see a waveform of the off->on, ripple, and on->off states at different voltages/loads. Looks quite nice overall though!

    The main difference in the spec is obviously the lower ripple, coming from the two-stage design, switching power supply combined with linear regulator.

    They showed the ripple with a filter capacitor to be about 10mV p-p which is a lot better than the older 6006 on an oscilloscope

    The main difference is that it has a linear regulator after the switching regulator, that's why it has a much lower ripple

    thanks for the review. I wanted to know how well it worked down at the low mA range. Better than i would have expected for the price. Seems like a decent upgrade over the prior version, x10 precision and x10 lower ripple. Accuracy seems to have improved also. There is also the RD6012P available, it can operate in either 6A or 12A mode (5 digit or 4 digit precision) - selectable, but i dont know how easy it is to change between modes, it may be a different sense resistor, or just a setting?.

    you are wrong about the accuracy. RD6006P value is permille, RD6006 is percent.

    Riden certainly seem to have hit the mark with these panels for the price.......but I would always be a bit dubious about attaching my high current pride and joy to them (whatever that may be) and wondering what would happen if I hammered the output with transient loads etc.

    I know that is only step down converter. Is there a problem if I use 12V power suply with it? I don't need more, but I need the precision.

    I must admit, I don't see any point in having 1mV resolution, expecially as the PSU doesn't have any sense inputs. Now, if they were to provide sense inputs, that would make this module really interesting.

      If you could use a single power supply for both of them, it would be a really cheap and nice little psu but sadly they are not isolated from what i've seen

      @@alexstone691 that would be my plan, I wonder if you could connect them together so if you adjust voltage of one the other follows or if you turn one on / off the other follows.

      @@alexstone691 it depends....if you were to use a big transformer rectifier and a capacitor bank before the the psu module it would be an isolated psu

    I realise these have a place in the market and they don't take up much in the way of space. But prefer to buy an old hp linear supply even if they weigh a tonne. Nice review non the less 👍

    ‰ is per mill eg per 1000 so it actually significantly more accurate.

    I heard the old version had terrible ripple under load.
    You didn't scope the output under different loads!
    Never buy rev 1 of anything.

      absolutely yes.... this in fact was the main and only? weakness / let down of the version 1. these riden models all seem to have higher levels of ripple under load. which is not to say it is bad value for money or anything. however the thing is there is the other youtuber known as 'voltlog'... who is very astute and helpful guy. and managed to find some other very competitively priced PSU, which has genuinely a much lower tested ripple under load. compared to these riden, its a higher quality source for sure. and more in line with what you would expect from something more expensive like a rigol etc. unfortunately the user interface is really super soviet union style. not anywhere near as easy to dial in as these riden ones.
      so what to do? well voltlog tried to make a project for replacing all the interface display and buttons side from scratch. and unfortunately it did not get enough collaborators help to finish. sadface although there are different versions maybe they will update it too sometime? idk. cannot remember the name of it escapes me. and harder to find than the riden
      but the thing now is... well if this new 'improved' rev2 riden genuinely has a much lower ripple under leoad then great! no need for anything else. yet i somehow dont see any promising signs here if all the dc dc converter power stage part is all identical as it would seem to be. then the load ripple will tell the same tail. and be same story as before. once again im not trying to bash on these riden for the price... just wish we could have the best of both worlds one day. rather than be having to pick and choose to give a priority between either X or Y feature. they are both important !

    I hate how these are sold or presented as a power supply. Ain't no supply going on here. Regulation or control yes. You have to buy a power supply to power this power supply.
    If you can buy an entire unit, with the case, the actual supply and the regulator/control board then sure, sell it as a power supply.
    I disagree with videos that present the controller as a X-volt/Y-amp power supply for JUST $70 or whatever. It's simply not.
    Nice run down, it would have been interesting to see what sort of ripple gets through, on a scope, in comparison to previous models, and even other DC-DC type power supplies. I understand the kind of limitations faced with that sort of video production though.

      You're wrong. They also sell the complete kit with the case and the AC to DC converter.
      By the way, a 36V 7A converter costs around 12€.

      @@alejandroperez5368 So.... I'm not wrong then? Because I made it pretty clear in my comment that that would be a power supply. Maybe try reading my comment fully?
      Also, how much for a >60v 6A converter, as is required for THIS unit? And how much is the case? It ends up being WAY more than $70
      My point stands.

    Very nice, just not all that important 99% of the time. 5.00 vs 5.001 is not normally important. Ripple alone makes it kind of a moot point. Linear for accuracy, switcher when you just want raw power.

      1mVRMS ripple is a "mute point"?
      Agilent E3630 is specified to 350uVRMS ripple and that is a full linear power supply, this power supply doesn't even have a linear regulator on the output yet still achieves 1mVRMS
      Tho it has to be said that he measured it using a multimeter and not a oscilloscope, that would surely be different if you measured it on a scope.
