Great vlog & your art is dope! No shame in wanting conventions to really be more about networking and outreach than money! I treat a lot of my out of state conventions that way. As long as I can make back expenses, being able to network and get my name out there is still very useful!
Hey thank you so much! Love your work as well and your vids have been super helpful with seeing how the convention life works! I’m glad to hear because I thinks it’s so dope to travel all over and meet tons of artist! My goal too is to at least break even lol. Kinda took an L this show but met some cool people to balance out that loss haha. Ty again for the love!
Dope vid bro, when people come up to my table I usually say like hey how’s it going,u enjoying the con, event so far ect just to make em feel like I’m welcoming them 😊
Subbed cause you inspired me to do more shows. Love the genuine feel of your vids and how you talk about it not being about the numbers, but connections/building relationships and getting real critique :)
Love how real your vlog is about wondercon. I’m an artist who’s new to the con scene and vlogging and I’m glad to stumble across your channel. I’m making it a personal mission to network with more artists in the industry, so I hope to meet you in the future! 😄
I’m so glad to hear! I’m trying to explain as much as I can remember lol. I think it’s pretty rare to see other artist alley people trying to actually network so I’m glad someone else shares the same goal as me! I’m sure we will attend a future show soon and I can’t wait to see your vlogs as well!!
I'm an artist planning to join conventions, but I notice a lot of artists are doing fan art. Is it unwise for me to do art based on my own webcomic IP? Because I know people can't relate to it since it's unknown, and I'm just banking on the hope that people might just like the art style. Was wondering what your opinion is on this.
I actually prefer getting art from people who create original art but the regular person who goes to artist alley is usually looking for fan art of their favorite show or pop culture thing. I say if you’re tryna to make a profit then you might have to start with fan art but I’d give it a try at a small local show first that way you can test the waters. Don’t let the sales discourage if it’s low. Keep trying new things and see what sticks!
It's been a while since I've been to a con, but when I did go I'd say I got an equal amount of fan and original art. My first con I remember getting a group chibi sketch of me and my friends. 😊 But mostly I've pick-up apparel, stickers, and pins with original art over the years. I think it's totally possible to sell your original art in an artist alley.

You could make a zine for your web comic to have alongside the fan art

thanks so much dude!
Snorlax or mew please :)
2024 has been super slow for me and for all the artist vendors i have talked to. Think its just the economy, everyone is broke.
