it's amazing to see how much better she's gotten since 2012. I've started to become a fan :)
Even though I hated seeing Simone fall, it's worth noting that Aly definitely beat her on floor today! They are only a tenth apart in difficulty now! Beautiful routine from Aly! Way to make a comeback after beam! Also loved the leap out of the final pass...so unique!

dahighbar Yes, but the same can be said about Aly (beam) and Bailie (beam). There's essentially a 3-way tie for 3rd right now since Gabby, Aly, and Bailie are only separated by .1. I'm wondering if anyone can overtake Maggie with 4 hit routines or if Maggie would have to have a major error for that to happen. We'll see tonight, I guess!

Gorgeous is not enough! it doesn't even describe how good it was , I mean, how many attempts of wolf and Y-turns we saw which honestly were awful? glad to see this double L how its supposed to be done!
Ah, redemption. Well, I've never seen a split half out of a pass before, but damn she made it look good.
I spy with my little eye a happy Martha karolyi clapping in the back, at the end of the routine! I don't know why I love Aly's floor routine so much, she improved a lot on artistry!
Her choreography this year was such an improvement from before. I'm sad to see this routine not in the floor finals at worlds, but she is a very hard worker and I bet she will be a very serious contender for Rio.
LOVE her floor work! Becoming a huge fan of her now. Even with the fall on BB, if she can continue her comeback momentum she will be in Rio 2016 no doubt.

Aly is just amazing!!! My daughter competes. And it's always amazing to watch the professional big leagues do what they do best! Go Aly! So Amazing!!
So Aly had a fall on her first event (beam), and then came back really strong showing that she is a true fighter. This is a 6.7 D score, wich is huge, higher than it was in 2012. Next year, if she can add a puch front out of her arabian double pike, and add a jump out of her double lay, her D score will be a 6.9. Very good Aly

I don't think she'll add a full twist to her double layout. I just think she'll get her punch front after her piked double arabian back, and add a jump after her double lay... I think this will be her rio routine. She has a really high start value. To her AA, she needs to improve her bars (in my opinion looking better than in 2012) and her amanar, and work on some details her and there

i can't imagine the shape she has to be in to do this routine...it never stops, incredible!

It's nice to see her up her game! I think Dancing with the Stars helped her I see a lot more elegance in her routine
I love this specific routine because she times her poses and dance moves with the music more so than in other competitions
Aly's dance experience shows in this routine. She looks so confident and moves very gracefully. I love it.

Leaps and execution
I disagree. Her leaps hit split and her new leaps combos are taking away landing deductions.
I didn't see any of her split leaps reach 180 maybe her spit jumps did. That last leap after her double Pike wasn't even 120. She slightly cowboys her Arabian, her Double lay has flexed feet and soft knees
Se31298 Unfortunately, she lost more on the execution of that final leap than the connection was worth (just like she fell on beam trying to get a .1 connection). I know she can hit that last leap better though, so hopefully on day 2!
Christopher Karr I'm not complaining 15.5 is a hell of a score. I was just stating where nshe loses execution points at
Everyones faces at the end! They are like "SHE IS HELLA LUCKY" because twice she pratically went out of bounds and got away with it. Marta and Belas faces were like "omfg" and laughing. Fave part of the routine. Not to mention she is hella better than 2012 at the olympics, go figure. Usually the other way around xD ily aly

I wouldn't be surprised if that double lay turned into a Biles and the double Pike turns into a double lay she's quite capable.
dahighbar Yeah, so many people think she's maxed out in terms of difficulty, but she was always good about showing new upgrades every year. I also hope they restructure her bars a bit to get a few more tenths. I know she's not capable of getting high scores on bars, but I think they could get her up to 14.5 with a few tweaks. Her amanar will get better as well. Those landing deductions are killing her right now. Aly's my favorite gymnast if that isn't obvious. Haha. I just love how damn hard she works!
SheaNDamon1829 well I'm glad to see Aly finally getting the love and respect she deserves. last year she was the Skinner of the quad now people love her even if it's because now they mainly all hate Gabby
Yeah, she does get a lot of harsh criticism. I know she doesn't have the most beautiful gymnastics, but she has made improvements. Her bars do look a lot more controlled than they did in the past. The little deductions still kill her though.
I'm not sure why people seem to not like Gabby anymore. I think part of it is her leaving Chow, honestly. I wish she had stayed with Chow, but I don't pretend to know the whole story. Maybe he really was trying to charge her an unreasonable amount.

Good floor routine! She improved lot! The flow is better and she is confident. But if she wants to win a gold medal in floor event final at Rio, hope she could be more expressive and looks into more details of her choreography.

Do you think she can connect some sort of acrobatic element (like a front tuck 1/2, or back tuck) out of her double layout? Seems that she has the endurance for it
And If she brings back the front tuck after her double Arabian, that would give her a 7.0 SV.
Her and simone would be neck and neck by rio!!

Instead of the Arabian punch front that she's planning to add in the future, what if she changes her third pass to a Biles and adds a punch front out of it? Will that make a difference in potential D score?

Amazing tumbling but her leaps are atrocious. Some of them wont get credit on a world stage if she doesnt clean them up.The switch 1/1 was nowhere near 180. The other ones were better but still need work.
+Harry Wayne She'll get credit. If Skinner got credit for those horrible leaps, you can rest assured that Raisman will.

Why was her start value a 6.7 here and a 6.6 in 2016?
So she took out the punch front on her second pass. I don't like that she added a leap at the end. I think she could have perfected the punch front and it would've suited her style better. Whenever she finishes her passes in a leap she always lands a little shaky and that's where she loses execution points.
But overall it's wonderful to see her get such high scores. This is only .05 less than the score for her gold medal winning routine. You can tell she's working hard to make a real comeback.
clubOrange she's doing the leap this year because it's consistent whereas the punch front wasn't. In a podcast, she says she's still training the punch front and will add it back next year.
I think she might make the 2016 team. she is really pressing forward!
This is a potencial gold at Olympics, can beat biles easily. The number of connections are ridiculous.

Even though her bars and vault is awful, she has a good chance of making it to rio because of this floor routine and the beam routine.
I wouldn't say her vault is awful. It's on and off. Some days she does well on it and others the form is just horrible. She did do pretty well with it at the Olympics.

Wowww omg. If she had done the punch front instead of the stag jump in her second pass, would her d score have been 6.8?
liceous .2 i believe its worth so 6.9?
The stag jump already gave her an extra tenth connection so if she did the front tuck instead she'd get +.2 but lose the .1 from other connection. 6.8

She was talking about the double I think, which she did do. But if she did another leap out of the DLO yes it would make her D score higher.
She needs to work on her flexibility and leaps but other than that it was good. The leap at the end was good because of how high she was at the end of the double back pike.
Aly would not have beat Simone without Simone's very atypical fall. There is not gymnast right now that compares to Simone's difficulty...period.
Aly is great on floor, she should dismount with a triple twist. She did it amazing in the Olympics
Form is better in her doubles though!
