Yes Aussie fish and chips with salt aaahhh so good!
You’re sucking me back in.I loved your series on overlanding how to, more than the books even. I thought I wasn’t interested in Australia and four wheeling. I’m not really but you tell a good story. Tomato sauce indeed.
Great to hear!
Awesome as always, something I don't think I've ever seen in one of your videos I would be interested in is when you restock on food and supplies... I would like to see how much food you buy for a stretch of your trip and the thought behind it
Dan, we want to see you cooking something elaborate on your kitchen setup
Man, as growing up near New Orleans on the Northern Gulf of Mexico, I love fish and chips, but I’m with your friend on the not eating shark!
I spend too much time on the water to tempt fate like that!
Glad you’re enjoying it and hoping the restrictions keep getting less restrictive!
There are no restrictions at all now!
Just waiting for the Vegimite with Dan episode!
You know it's coming !
Dan, I really do appreciate the food focus, thank you. However, I must admit that I was getting anxious watching that segment and thinking about the fish and chips cooling. I have eaten enough of these to recognize there is definitely an exponential relationship between fish and chip quality (time out of fryer) and time. So, the longer you discussed the nuances of the Tasmanian fish and chip, there was an exponential drop in temp and quality of the food product...I assume. Thank you for your sacrifice for our culinary education.
You are absolutely right Jeff, and it gets even worse! I was half way through filming that and the camera battery died, so I had to start all over again!
Rest assured, it was still delicious!
Best served with tartar sauce I reckon.
I like the food section, keep it up.
As an American, I would call those fries small steak fries. Good video!
In SA there's heaps off ferrys crossing the Murray River mate semis go on them with ya 👍 and our ferrys are free 😀
We also cook potatoes like that in the Eastern US, I do enjoy them that way with fish also!
Dan, good on you mate, I like the way you operate!
look forward to the dimmi segment !
In NSW it is mullet and chips and in QLD is is Mackerel and chips.
Love it.I'm watching all your videos Dan you rule
Glad you like them!
I like mine the English way: malt vinegar and salt. Around here its Rock Cod or some other sort of cod.
Nice one. 👌🏻
Cheers to bolth of you. 🍷&🍺
What a stunning, stunning location WOW !
Those are standard french fries at most Country Mom and Pop restaurants
Thanks for the content Dan! Since you've got the Americas and Africa conquered, and now you're roaming closer to home, any plans on doing an Asia trip in the future?
Stay safe out there fella, and have fun!
Absolutely! I aim to slowly but steadily explore everywhere.
Dan, I had to watch again and it occurred to me one has to be quite ambidextrous to drive in North America then travel to Australia and drive there!
At this point I'm so confused I have no idea what is going on.
I have to actually say out loud "Passenger to the curb" so I get it right.
What *really* gets me is driving a wrong-hand-drive vehicle - like when I had my left hand drive Wrangler in left hand drive countries. THAT messes with my head!
Good going! We need a World conference to convene and all agree to switch to the same side of the road. It is actually getting to be quite a hazard in countries with large tourist populations.
Loving these episodes. Thanks for making them
Can't believe you didn't get a Chiko Roll! Or a Pineapple Fritter!
Plenty of time for him to chow down on chiko rolls at all the desert roadhouses on the mainland.
And no chicken salt on the chips? Criminal.
Great job mate 🙏🏻keep it up
Thank you 🙌
Like mine with nice chunky cod fish, malt vinegar and mushy chip shop (mushy peas) if I can get it.
Love the fish and chips segment... who knew, no malt vinegar? And... tomahtow paste... Interesting.
Some people would get vinegar (it's a British thing.. which Australia has a VERY strong connection with). My family never did, so I don't like it.
@@TheRoadChoseMe In the US, as you likely know, we only know of fish and chips as a British concept so that's the way I have ever known it. In any event, whether with vinegar or tomato sauce---that fried thing should come with its own order of angiogram! 😂
For me it's not fish and chips unless you have vinegar (though technically a lot fish and chip shop here in the UK use a fake non brewed condiment that tastes like vinegar but is cheaper)
Dan its the same as the fish and chips in the uk
I wanna try that tomato sauce but it’s $23 for a bottle here
Sorry if I've missed some videos but two questions:
Who are you traveling with?
What size tires do you run?
My girlfriend Katie has joined me on the trip.
Tires are 285/70R17 Yokohama X-AT. For a whole host of reasons I won't go bigger.
@TheRoadChoseMe Thanks!! I'm weighing up tires and was looking at 265/75R16 but will consider yours as well. Have a great time with Katie and thanks for the excellent videos.
How did you get on with uploading your videos whilst on the road in Africa? I assume it's probably a bit easier now in Australia!
3G (and probably now 4G) is excellent in virtually all of Africa. SIM cards are about fifty cents, and data is a few dollars per GB. It's really no problem.
Any town with a fuel station likely has 3G fast data.
@@TheRoadChoseMe That's pretty much what I do anyway on my travels. To be honest, half the time it was faster than the internet I have at home in the UK!
The fastest Internet of my life was in Kenya.. second fastest South Africa!
@@TheRoadChoseMe Kenya has phenomenal internet and their SIM cards are dirt cheap. I found Namibia to be quite expensive.
I'm not a big fan of ketchup. I need to see if I can find some of that tomato sauce...
In my head I know that you're in Australia, and they drive on the left side of the road, but every time you approach a corner my mind keeps defaulting to "you're on the wrong side of the road!!". How long does it take to acclimatize to that, and do you think being born and raised in Australia makes the switch easier?
It still gets me often. Especially when I first drive in the morning I have to say out loud which side of the road I'm supposed to be driving on.
At this point I've also spent years driving on the "wrong" side (i.e. vehicle with steering wheel on the left driving on the left), so I'm entirely messed up.
does you Jeep have lockers front and back?
Yes, it's a Rubicon.
Feeesh and Cheeeps?
Nah mate, this is Australia, not New Zealand!
@@TheRoadChoseMe Kiwis say Fush and Chups.
So what did Katie eat?
haha, NOT fish and chips, that's for sure!
(She made a tuna salad that day)
😂 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚖
You know I'm going to be brutally honest......
The food segment was fun. The rest of the video sucked. The road to nowhere looked like any country road. The campsite looked like the outskirts of a landfill. And the video was to short to get involved in.
Sorry.
