Many people bash Tera for „the stupid looking hats“. I really like it though, because it grants some Pokemon very much needed coverage or can be used for defensive purposes. And I really like the fact that they made unique animations for every type of Tera Blast.
My problem with it is that there's barely any power fantasy flavor wise, like past gimmicks. You have cool super saiyan forms, Super Sentai-style finishing moves, colossal kaiju mon, and then there's silly hats.

Honestly, the move animations this gen is very bland compared to past games, but these Tera Blasts are beautiful! They really put in the effort with the sparkly effects and textures with the new mechanic.
Yeah I think it might be due to not having a separate screen for battles anymore and not having the cinematic battlw camera in the open world. At least the fixed solar beam though

My Ting-Lu is a dark tera type alongside Chien-Pao and Wo-Chien. Only Chi-Yu got a tera type that wasn't dark
