  • As we know when it comes to feeding fruit it’s best done in moderation and in variety! Choosing the right food to feed to your tortoises is important. You should Avoid feeding citrus and other acidic fruits. Personally my favorites to feed include Watermelon , cantaloupe, honeydew , and papaya! Reason being is it’s intense colors motivate the tortoises to eat it more than they already do and also it’s a great secondary source of hydration! Along with it being a hydrating snack , I also use the occasional opportunity to dust the fruits with calcium/ vitamins to promote some extra strength into their diet! Like I’ve said multiple times , high sugary foods for grassland species can be harmful if fed frequently , so it’s best to limit consumption quantity. Affects of feeding lots of fruit can be loose stool , diarrhea , and negative impacts to their digestive track. Along with those cons , this can lead to pyramiding and other things caused by the imbalanced diet! High fiber foods such as hays and grasses are what really benefit these animals and that’s their main diet! Hope you guys enjoyed Thanks for watching!

2:45 bro thanks sm for the tip about putting the calcium on it🙏 my desert tortoise "Wall-E" is so stubborn he'll flip and toss his green leaf lettuce and will absolutely refuse to eat any leaf that has calcium powder on it
