had the same issue, saw this video last week and decided to repair it, but I did only unscrew the screw under the rubber ring, moved the plastic tube up and could fasten the middle of the 3 screws - did it in 5 minutes - so it is not necessary to completely dismantle the lens - on the other hand this video gives you a good view of the interior of the lens
I know this is the first comment on this video but you saved me. My teachers lense got stuck like this and he knows that I can fix it. I took the lense apart and fixed the issue but I simply could not put it back together. This video is well made and easy to understand. I did it!
@@tjshen8398 I have this problem with this lens. I see you take it apart, then put it back together, but I can't figure out which part is causing the problem. When I dismantle it, which part do I have to adjust?
Right? Lol. Like that last screw under the zoom is literally the only screw like that but it’s very similar to the others. You can actually strip the thing quite easily. And it’s the very last screw before you get to the issue. Just out of a lens now.
The problem you had is very, very common. This lens is notoriously difficult......I will repeat that, is NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT, to realign when the assembly is taking place........many many diy enthusiasts scrap the lens after realising that they cannot reassemble the lens and achieve auto focus functioning as it should. Thank You for your upload.
Like other people in the comments, I haven't understood which element to adjust and which action to perfomr on it. I just saw you unscrewing and screwing some screws but without explanation about that
This is the 2nd generation of the lens The first gen does not have a bayonet type lens hood. If you could add that to your title it might help more people. I'm not sure the inside is the same.

Lucky you! :)

I have this exact problem but for videos like this it’s much more helpful to explain what’s going on.

Tengo ese mismo problema en este, uno de mis lentes favoritos. Gracias.

Thanks for your comment, I have added AF-S Dx on the title, hope this can help with clarifying the lens version
