Couple things I do. Tissue patterns I cut out and either copy them or press iron on interfacing to the back. Then you can use it and it don't tear up as easy.
I also suggest getting binder and clear sheets at the office supplystore. You can store the pattern and the pieces together. You can also put your favorites together for finding easier. Good luck. Try all the fashions. You learn so much making doll clothes!

I honestly had to LAUGH when I saw your Patterns on your thumbnail....I am sitting here WORKING on an outfit on an outfit from your Simplicity, Pattern # 4702! HAHAHAHAH Many times I have to have the dolls right there to make sure WHICH Barbie they made these for. ;-) With a small tweak, Blythe dolls. I have done the same thing, use patterns for a bases. That round skirt, I have made those, YOU will be able to make those well and fast. ;-)

I hold the Patterns in the window, with a piece of copy paper over them, trace, add the information from the pattern onto the copy, then cut out the copies. It works well for me. ;-)

Iv'e done the 4702 one, trousers, jacket skirt and top, they were pretty true to size and easy to follow too - i did add a bit for curvy trousers and it worked well, i am trying to improve my sewing too :)

Ooh! You could cut out the pattern pieces, then photocopy them (so the copies will become the originals) and you could store the envelope and patterns in clear plastic page protectors in a binder.... I love commercial patterns - they taught me how to sew!! I'm mad about their illustrated instructions! And Simplicity's are among the best, I find!

You can not cut them out but copy them by hand or on copy machine. It will be better. I got that advice from Marna. 😁 Good luck! I have one of those from Marna. We don't have them here in stores or at least I have never seen them.

I use to teach beginning sewing. I always tried to start with doll clothes. Barbie is hard as she is small. 18 dolls are nice, but don't have as fancy clothing Barbie. My sewing room would scare you. I try to be organizers patterns. I always have misplaced favorites. Nothing is better than making doll clothes. Good luck and don't give up.

I enjoyed watching. I have no dress-making skills but would like to make something. However, there are only so many hours in a day, right?? I've seen dolly dress patterns being sold as downloads on etsy as pdfs, which are much less expensive. Lots of vintage ones, too (if that's the kind of thing you like!) Looking forward to seeing what you make! :)

I’ve enjoyed using the 4702 pattern and I’ve collected some vintage dolls patterns. I really like the vintage ones as they’ve got the complete look for dolls of different eras. On 4702, the red long dress was really easy to start and I’ve done the dress. The dress with gathered top is a bit fiddly but the instructions are really good I think ( though I sew my own clothes so I’m not a beginner and it’s difficult to tell who will find what difficult). I tend to wing most things, but I do cut them, out. Much easier when cut out, and you can keep them in little individual envelopes. Re the sizing, I would say they’re fine for Barbie and that shape doll. You might want to start on that size, then use that experience to vary the size for Sindy. I love the little suit! I think that’ll be my next make. The fabric is important too. A polyester or good cotton are best to start. Trying the suit in a looser wool woven might be difficult- maybe go for a printed ponte. Good luck with it all.

Lovely video as always Octopudding! Was so pleased when I saw you got these patterns and were sharing them as I looked at them in hobbycraft the other day. Was great to see them in better detail, so many cute outfits. You mentioned about size adapting for curvey barbie and such and wondered have you looked into Annabel Benilan's Barbie pattern books? They have each pattern sized for multiple Barbie sizes, I've been using them to make clothes for my pullip dolls and have had a lot of fun with them.
