I don’t use a straight strip of fabric on a neckline anymore , I cut a circle of fabric, as a strip, so in essence, circular strip , the exact same size as the neck hole and now I don’t have problems anymore.🥰

Many years ago we called this stretch and sew and there were even fabric stores by the same name which also taught classes on sewing with stretch fabric. Happy memories. I made so many t-shirts I can't count them all. This was in southern California, usa. I don't know if the stores were in other countries. Thanks for the lesson.
@@debchambers8563 I guess they were just beginning to have stretch type fabrics widely available. I remember we had home economics in school and I made a polyester tunic. Men were wearing "leisure suits" at that time. But the stretch type fabrics were kind of a new invention I suppose.
Do you still sew? I live in Southern Calif and looking for help with my neck lines. I use a Baby Lock/ Molly & have a serger. I am still unsure how to adjust t-shirts that are just too low. I find it's fun to sew when I have time. :)
May be lengthy straight stitch, than regular straight stitch ..... Lengthy stitch is loose enough to adjust with the stretchable thick layers of the neckline

I remember the stretch and sew days too. I made tons of shirts and nighties for my girls with the same pattern. I think that craze was all over.
