    Ahh yes, peaceful Russia, never starting a conflict, just defending. Those Czechs I'm sure were ecstatic to see Soviet tanks bringing peace and prosperity with them.

      Oh my Father loved the noise of Russian tanks on prague's cobbled streets (/s). I'm glad nothing worse happened for them these days, well emphasis in DAYS, because my familiy had to flee from the
      eastern bloc afterwards due to a bourgeoisie past (it's no other than condemn somebody who has jewish ancestors..).

      You trying to say that only Russia have invaded someone. What about US army invasions in Mexico (1911), Nicaragua, Haiti, Grenada (1982), Panama (1987), American invasion of Chilie (1934). American invasion of Korea (1871), Japan (mid 19th century, when admirsl Mettew Perry opened Japan to the World from the isolationism). What about invasion of Afganistan by US, Vietnam, Iraq, Libya? Why are you talking like only Russia is attacking someone and only Russia is an "evil empire" ?
      Finland? Are you joking? In 1918 there was a war between the Soviet Russia and Finland, that was started by Finland - first Soviet-Finnish happened as a result of Finnish invasion of Russia during the Russian civil war.
      Poland? In 1919 Poland declared the war on Soviet Russia, resulting the start of Soviet-Polish war. Also Poland invaded independent Western Ukrainian Republic in 1919 and occupied it. As a result of war with RSFSR, Poland occupied large territories of post-Russian Empire.
      USSR and Germany in the 30's were the enemies by ideology. In 1938 USSR attempted to start the war with Germany by making the defensive pact with Czechoslovakia. In 1939 USSR attempted to make a defensive pact with the Allies for the collective protection of Europe from Germany, but Poland and other East-European countries refused Soviet offer of millitary alliance. Just try to understand the situation from the Soviet view: USSR was waiting for German invasion of Poland, and Allies refused the Soviet proposals about the defensive alliance. As a result USSR didn't had any choise, but to took the quaranties of non-agression with Germany, and take territories of Poland to push the border from Moscow to Berlin for protection of Soviet territories. Yes, USSR was an agressor, yes, Soviet army had invaded Poland on 17th september 1939. Yes, USSR invaded Baltics and invaded Finland (don't forget how Finland invaded Russia in 1918, Finland wasn't the saint prey, Suomi also had the imperial ambitions). And yes, USSR took Besarabia from the Romania.
      I would agree with you about Afganistan, Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

      @@glennmandigo6069 in Vietnam US were helping to South government, just like USSR was helping to the red government of Afganistan. The only 2 differences is that in Vietnam Soviets were supplying the Northern red agressors, while in the Afganistan the US were supplying the terrorists, who fought against new revolutionary government. And after the war this terrorists attacked the US, resulting the new war.
      Russian troops entered Kazakhstan after official proposal of Kazakh government - Tokaev asked for a help, and Tokaev asked for the end of operation - Russian troops are already evacuating from Kazakhstan. This is like the Austria in the middle of 19th century asked Russia to help with protests and revolution. Russia didn't invaded Austria in 1830's, or when it was, I don't remember. Kazakhstan have a defensive pact and alliance with Russia.

      Perhaps politically Soviet Union and the us were somehow familiar (in terms of invading etc) but completely different in terms of life, technologies etc. though Soviet Union had some gorgeous inventions, still it’s loosing to the west. And especially comparing eastern and Western Europe. Yes, Western Europe was ,,occupied’’ exactly like Eastern Europe, but to be honest better to live in a ,,colony’’ like west Germany, rather than east Germany.
      I’m ethnically mostly of Russian, Italian and some Turkic descent, and I know that even though communism by itself isn’t a bad invention (by the way invented by German) still it doesn’t work and is only destroying countries and ruining cultures. What would be the reaction of the DEMOCRATIC USA in this cold war times if, just in case, Mexico decided to go by socialism course?

    • @suc125
      @suc125 4 года назад +4

      Czechoslovakia didn´t decided to go the "democreatic way" (as percieved by west) - it still wanted the socialistic way, but more humanistic and with more freedom. THe goverment still wanted to be part of the Eastern block. THere was no ohter justification of the invasion than the reasoning: A free socialistic state cannot exist, because free people will choose another regime. If there was a chance for justic socialistic state with happy people, Soviets destroyed it in 1968
