As a longtime John Denver fan, I agree they did a great job. So few groups can consistently nail covers, but Home Free sure can. In this case, it almost seemed like the melody was written for Rob's voice, it sounded so right. Love your reaction as always. ❤👍
I have been a John Denver fan since the early mid 70s I own almost every vinyl he ever cut and 2 vinyls before he was John "Denver", when he was the lead singer of the Mitchell Trio after Chad left. To say that I am an enormous John Denver fan is a massive understatement. I have heard so many covers of his work that it's rather amazing and I would have to say that 99.9% of those covers only make me grind my teeth. The Home Free cover of Country Roads would have given John great pleasure as it does me. Home Free always does a stellar job with covers or their original music and again they have have not disappointed, but have paid great homage to a great musician.
Oh, Yes I remember when John replaced Chad in the trio. Upset me terribly because I have been a lifetime Huge fan of Chad Mitchell, he is the reason I fell in love with strong power tenors and my reason why Austin is a Big favorite. So easy to see why John was such a huge success, the songs he wrote and sang were perfect for the times. I still listen to him often and love his music.
All the others in Home Free have always said that Rob is the best singer. In particular for this album they have said the Rob sang the lead parts first before anyone else did, and he nailed them so hard that no one else wanted to try.
That’s called humility. Tim is definitely the most talented singer and imo Austin is better than Rob by a little. They are all just so dang good it’s hard to pick but I think a Tim has the best overall voice, he can do everything...
FUN FACT. John Denver is the ONLY songwriter to have TWO of his songs adopted as OFFICIAL STATE SONGS here in the US. “Take Me Home, Country Roads” (West Virginia) and “Rocky Mountain High” (Colorado)!!
Good to see you back in the saddle. Home Free, they hit full force with the harmonies, then when Adam kicks in, Wow! I love the soul and the emphasis on the yearning. This has been on the fan wish list for years and they don't disappoint.
I've been following your 'Reactions' and have now become a big fan of Home Free........There's something special about the human voice and the emotions that come from hearing it with such a fabulous blend of the sweetest harmonies....Thanks Pat...
It’s great to see back at it! You were missed! Hope you and your family had a great holiday! What’s not to love about this video: NOTHING, right?! Agreed that Rob is totally being his A+++ game on this album so far! Of course, they all are doing that! Love your reaction!
Great to have you back! Awesome way to start my day .....with a great reaction from you! I love how they took this iconic country song and totally made it their own!
Already watched it few times and enjoyed it, but I was wondering where you are, because I love to watch it with you. Your sweet and genuine reactions make me smile 😊.
Now Imagine what it is like to see them sing this Live! I did just that on Wednesday & Thursday. And yes, they sound just as good in person. Thursday Night, in Chicago, they gave out copies of the Cd to everyone who was in the audience.
Wauw, they are great! They are coming to Belgium next year and i have bought some tickets, looking forward to it! Thanks, liked it! A dear from Belgium(Dimash)
I watched this a couple days ago. I LOVE John Denver!!!!!! He was actually suppose to be my husband, but he broke my 4year old heart when I found out he was married (so did Terry Bradshaw, but. lol). They did this absolute justice. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!!!
Dammmmmmn. !!!!!!!!!! Thank you for introducing me to these nice young men singing . I have now officially been gobsmacked. You can tell that they've done acapella singing before, with just one light instrument in the background I I don't know what to say. I love that it's country with a little twist amen I pray that they don't change their style of singing one little bit even . I mean yeah it's a simple video but you can tell the looks on their faces the joy in their faces I I just don't know how else to describe it it great. I'm sure in this world now with the fancy effects Fancy videos and all the added s***that there will be some people to criticize how it was done. This is pure, this is simple just straight put out there . DAMN I'm sorry for cussing but DAMN. And you're getting this from a 70-year-old Southern woman who's talking to you. Thank you so so much for playing this video and introducing me to these nice young men oh my God. Oh honey, keep doing what you're doing and play these videos the way you do. God love ya ,😃😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I always loved this song, but always thought it should be allowed down. The combination of that and my favourite voices gives me chills every single time. Thanks for a great reaction, as always.
They made it their own, yet it kept the feeling of the song and that's a song you can feel and that didn't leave in their version of it. I loved it. Thanks for reacting and I hope you had a nice Holiday. We all need them on occasion don't we?
They said they worked on this for a long time (2 yrs, I think??), to get it just right since it's such an iconic song & the most ever requested for them by the fans. I believe it truly paid off!! I love the soulfulness they put in it. Absolutely gorgeous!
I could not agree with you more what you said about Rob, he is delivering each time. I would like to believe that John Denver would have wanted to sing with these guys just like The Oakridge Boys and Kenny Rodgers did. Talent recognizes talent.
Pat..... glad to see ya back; hoping your holiday was awesome! LOL --- You don't know Alabama (or little of) but you know John Denver and this...... that, I find a lil messed up! LOL... nothing wrong with it --- I just find it a bit odd. HF has done an awesome job on this. To me, they knocked it out of the park. Rob is really showing himself, his versatility --- I mean "who knew" he had such a depth, ability and sound. I said for several yrs now, "Rob just doesn't get enough credit" ------ but damn, in a much different way now........ and it's so damn good!!!! I do like Chance's sound on it --- that really sticks too.... Tim adjusted some also! This song --- as John Denver sings it has been pretty much adopted as the anthem for this state (WV).... some are gonna like/love HF version and embrace the change and some will just hate it!!!! ---- HF's take on it won't replace JD's but they definitely have done it justice!!! Me --- American by Birth, West Virginia Mountaineer by the Grace of God!!!
One of my Mom's favorite songs so even though it makes me cry almost every time I hear it, I really wanted HF to take it on. And, of course, it was wonderful. Thanks so much for reacting to it!
love Homefree and especially like your responses.... this one makes me want to take off without checking my fuel ..... Homefree has a habit of recording a cover that exceeds the original...did it again...those jazzy chords
I grew up with John Denver as a big part of my childhood and I love hearing excellent covers of his songs. I only get tired of it when there is too much John Denver-I have been stuck on hold trying to reach a West Virginia state agency office,, and ALL they play for hold music is Take Me Home. Aaarrrrggghh!!! I love the blend of Rob and Chance’s voices-they mesh so well
Thanks again! Incredible isn't it? Love Rob always, Austin my favorite with his harmonies and high "wails" as Rob calls them, and then Chance to me his voice actually touches me deepest in my soul. But every one of these guys is incredible, of course Tim. And without Adam's beat there wouldn't be a group like this> he is the heart beat as they call him of the group. Wow this is great. The arrangements they do is what pushes them over the top!
One of my favourite shower songs! I’d be a liar if I said I sounded like any of these guys, though. And it reminds me that I still have my FO76 pre-order still in the bag. Need to do something about that.
Love that Rob is being shown more and more. He has always been my favorite member. It kind of surprises me because Avi was my favorite in Pentatonix, I expected to have Tim my favorite in Home Free.
Check out Scott Hoying - I Should Tell Your Momma On You & Scott Hoying - The A-Team. Also Pentatonix - Pusher Love & Cracked. And Kevin Olusola - Sign Of The Times. Why Try - Forte (feat. Kirstin Maldonado) - @ Mitch Grassi - Graveyard (Feist Cover) - @
I love Home Free ..but .. I am really not happy I pre ordered the cd. I like Robs voice but I prefer Austin or Tim and so far every song but 1 from this album has had Rob in the lead.
As a longtime John Denver fan, I agree they did a great job. So few groups can consistently nail covers, but Home Free sure can. In this case, it almost seemed like the melody was written for Rob's voice, it sounded so right. Love your reaction as always. ❤👍

Slowing it down brings some extra wistfulness to it, I think. I love JD, but think he would approve of this version.
And now we hear Rob a few years later singing opera and taking no prisoners in that genre either. Rob's great...they all are.
Have to disagree with the idea that Rob is a better singer, they are all very talented, but I would give Austin a few more points vocally.
I am only reporting what the fellas have said. Chris Rupp said that Rob’s singing makes anyone he sings with sound better.
I don't think it's always about who has the best voice but about who has the best voice for each song.
Home Free slowed this down and gave it a hint of r&b and I love it . Yeah Rob is a force.i agree with you.
They all get to shine. Love those harmonies and that percussion. Great cover. Great reaction
This is definitely one of my fav Home Free songs. Rob's butter-smoothe voice is just incredible.
Rob is on fire. I love how he sang in " end of the road" he's got some deep soul in his voice.
Oh my that was so beautifully done. Just Devine and I love your reactions. Harmonies just out of this world....🎶🎵🎶👏👏🎶
This is our state song and they did it beautifully, slightly different but beautiful
And can we talk about their harmonies? Jaysus!
I am Huge John Denver fan and they did this so much justice ...missed ya while ya was on vacay
The harmonies are 👌 They did the song great justice!
FUN FACT. John Denver is the ONLY songwriter to have TWO of his songs adopted as OFFICIAL STATE SONGS here in the US. “Take Me Home, Country Roads” (West Virginia) and “Rocky Mountain High” (Colorado)!!
That is very cool and completely logical.
I haven't heard Home Free before. WOW So amazing I can't stop smiling

Thanks for watching. I love doing reactions, I've learnt so much and discovered so many new talented people.
It’s great to see back at it! You were missed! Hope you and your family had a great holiday!

Almost heaven... Home Free ❤️
Great reaction - this one gives me chills every time I listen to it!! Thanks!!
Love, love, love their version of this song!!
Being from West Virginia I obviously love this song. It’s hard to beat John Denver’s version but they nailed it!!
Now Imagine what it is like to see them sing this Live!

I always loved this song, but always thought it should be allowed down. The combination of that and my favourite voices gives me chills every single time. Thanks for a great reaction, as always.
An iconic song and an amazing cover. Home Free did what they always do - fantastic vocals with emotional undertones!
They made it their own, yet it kept the feeling of the song and that's a song you can feel and that didn't leave in their version of it. I loved it. Thanks for reacting and I hope you had a nice Holiday. We all need them on occasion don't we?
That was an absolutely beautiful rendition of the classic John Denver song. Love it. Love it. Love it. Great reaction.

West Virginian here...love their version.....

This has always been a favorite song of mine and they did a fantastic job on this one. John Denver would be proud for sure!
love Homefree and especially like your responses.... this one makes me want to take off without checking my fuel ..... Homefree has a habit of recording a cover that exceeds the original...did it again...those jazzy chords
Amazing guys!! Another banger! So beautiful!
They made it just different enough to make it their own, but kept it the same song we know and love. Thank you! ^_^
Simply Gorgeous! These guys are what I believe angels sound like.
You just know that John is smiling down on these bad boys.....
My favorite of theirs so far Pat....loved John Denver.big shoes to fill.for sure. Goosebumps. Who is Rob?
Rob Lundquist was the one with the glasses and beard
I grew up with John Denver as a big part of my childhood and I love hearing excellent covers of his songs. So happy they have someone that can bass so well, with Tim!!
I totally appreciated their tasteful rendition of an iconic song.
One of my favourite shower songs! I’d be a liar if I said I sounded like any of these guys, though. And it reminds me that I still have my FO76 pre-order still in the bag. Need to do something about that.
goosebumps roll down my back

TIM HITS A -A1! in this one
To me always show respect for the original performer. Love there music
I totally agree. I think John would love what they've done with it.
Amazing!!! I loved John Denver I think they did it justice!!!
That was a really wonderful reaction! You explained the way it has made us all feel, I think. Thank you very much! \0/
Being a JD fan I love Home Free's spin on it. I've said it before and I say it again, Home Free never disappoints.
I really enjoyed waking up to this today
Love that Rob is being shown more and more. He has always been my favorite member. It kind of surprises me because Avi was my favorite in Pentatonix, I expected to have Tim my favorite in Home Free.
Oh YEAH LOVE this Version so much Soul WOW 😮 !💜💜💗💗😍✌🏻
I saw John in concert back in the 70s. They did a nice job on this song. I do prefer the original. Please play the original. 👏🏽🔥
Great song, great reaction
Wow that's a great cover!! John Denver would give this a thumbs up!
Welcome back, hope you had a great holiday! :-) They took me home and I totally enjoyed the ride. LoL
From what i understand, they have wanted to do this for YEARS! But wanted it to be JUST right, so waited to get the right harmonies and arrangements.
I am so glad you reacted to this and liked it

while listening I forgot I was watching a guy react, amazing song.
Lol, sometimes I forget I'm reacting.
My feeling exactly my friend about Rob but still in the mix.
I liked it, but if I want to hear that song I'll still go back to the original.
You can't top the original ! ....this was good... well done ✌😎
West Virginian Here :~) thumbs up
If they can take on 'The Man in Black' and no-one complained, who can't they do?
ROB!
Gospel Rob
brthday harlin
I missed you. :-)
Chills
Is that a Pittsburgh pirates hat you're wearing ?
I love Home Free ..but .. I am really not happy I pre ordered the cd. I like Robs voice but I prefer Austin or Tim and so far every song but 1 from this album has had Rob in the lead.
❤❤❤
I have yet to hear a cover that I don't like by Home Free. Some of them I prefer Home Free's version.
Is there a home free song/cover you haven't reacted to yet? Just curious.
