Always great videos - we never know what to expect - family friendly and informative - I respect your life approach in the way you take everything thrown at you in your stride. Sounded like the guy at door 78 was an Aussie. They know how to say it straight!
Your Garmin looks like my RV770 that I run in the motorhome. I like that you can tell it your length, width, height, and weight and it’ll route you to avoid areas where you won’t fit. I use that and the trucker’s atlas to plan my routes. Great video as always!
Great video! If you get to Menards, they sell small packs of just " wedding rings" in all sizes for cheap. No need to buy that expensive brass fitting for just the ferule. Good luck.
I have 3 Garmin trucking GPS’s. One is 4 years old and I update it every time I’m home. I run 2 at a time and set each up differently so I can make the best route for me. I bought all of them with points at truck stops. Oh the 3rd one I have I use as a dash cam since there is one built into it. The Garmin Dezl series units are the best.
Man Kurt you gotta get the watermelons on the bumper working! I don’t know if I missed a video or what but I really like the new halo lights in the breathers.
My heavy maintenance and repair experience started in the USN. They taught me all about timed out components and pre-emptive repairs. So I replace belts based on time and not waiting for failure. Same with hoses etc, etc, etc. I would replace every air line on the truck if it were me. It establishes a start point especially if record is kept.5 years down the road and one fails you know all lines are same age and will probably fail soon as well.
Hello Mr. Schmidt! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I just subscribed to your channel because I love to listen to your content ... That of what I like to call a common sense real American approach to life. I live in VA just outside DC the land of political hot air. What you said about being a professional truck driver is the kind of honest advice to anyone aspiring to take to the road in a HUGE and potentially dangerous rig... the truth... nothing but the truth. Your level headed approach should really resonate with many folks. Your tongue in cheek humor also makes me chuckle... Keep 'em coming! Best wishes, Gladys
I blew past a weight station in no where Wyoming. I learned that a trucker gps would tell me where their at. So I got a Garmin. Now I have an 800 dollar rand mcnally. This thing has way more options than Garmin
Going to places like you went to,where they really think that you bringing a load to them is an inconvenience.i used to tell them if you don't want I'll take it someplace that does then call my dispatch and let them deal with it.Those kind of people are not worth raising my blood pressure over.
Your look tells me you know what that valve is down line from the load leveler and want to see what the internet experts tell you 😂, as well as they like to take their sweet time to seal up in winter. Those airline ferrels, cheap me will cut the line out and spin them over the handle of Channel Locks or needle nose to round them back open again and reuse. Yes, rubber glad hand lines are great for durability. Bought mine from a salvage yard. Lines, handled glad hands, wire pigtail all chaffed wrapped as a package for $25 about eight years ago as they get so much of them through off wrecks. Sure beat the plastic ones.
Chinese food; I consider it a legit restaurant experience, unless it has a drive thru, then it fast food, to me anyway. Bloody Hell! He must be British or an Aussie! Love listening to them!
O-H-I-O Porters 🇺🇸Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Mobile, Iowa? Hmm. A smelly cab? Where’s Opie? The thought of parking in the middle of the road is so weird & wild. Wasn’t that the leveling valve? I have to watch it again. It’s making me think twice about it. You must’ve caught it when it was in the middle of a cycle, but then you added the trailer & that should’ve activated it. Oh well! What was it? I love those Garmins. A good trip then. Blessings my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
+ Sometimes the air leak stops on its own cause it lost all the air pressure in it which means it was the recipient side and if you Cap it right away you are still good somewhat ; but you still need to cap 🧢 the other side ; the supply ; so, you need both male and female caps . But continue keeping an eye on stock brakes temp.
The Wife and I bought a new Garmin for our Big Truck about a year ago and put the old one up for a backup, it needs some updates done to show where roadwork has been done, I'm loving ours!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Not sure what that valve thing for either but I know u will figure it out I've heard from lot truckers that truckers path app is really good for gps and finding truck stops and all that good stuff
When I ran otr I used Rand McNally gps, the big map book and google maps to zoom in to see the best way to enter the shipper/receiver which direction to go to have room to bump a dock etc. I did hear the garmin dezl was a better gps. Don’t really use gps much anymore I’m doing local and regional nowadays.
I have used moonshine to clean rust and moisture from air systems. I was loosing valves ftequently. I drove that Pete another 6 winters with no more valve issues.
my uncle and i used to visit the mandarin house once a month or so and sit down to a good Chinese meal. we took turns paying. I miss those outings. I miss my uncle.
@ Yes sir! Been taking care of my dad as he’ll turn 91 next month on the 26th but hope to get back out there one day as I do miss it but I have only one parent left so God is in control.
There's Your Train For The Day! Yup, those lines get very brittle. Rubber a little better, but not much. They get hard and Rot. That area is the worse because of UV from the Sun when Parked. Time for air line antifreeze, and Power Service. TGP
Hey Kurt in my hometown we had a Chinese buffet They took that out a few yrs ago and it was good I liked the garlic shrimp some places don't make it like they used to. Let us know when you guys get the new calendars. Takecare Kurt and Happy Thanksgiving
the system in my Tundra pickup will let you know when you need to take a pee break. If the truck senses you are moving back and forth over the road, it will give you a warning to take a break.
hey kurt i have a 2018 garmin and it works great.dont b afraid 2 use it u will love it.mine has taken me 2 all kinds of racetracks here in the northeast.never thought i would stop using a paper map wrong, lol.
I am sure you made it home for Thanksgiving so hopefully you had a good one. We are all blessed whether we realize it or not. Yo Are truly blessed with a good close family so that in itself is a blessing. Havagudun Schmidt family.
Fast food can be eaten while driving. If you have to be sitting still to consume it = not fast. The town is pronounced ton-ga-nox-ee. Or just say Tongie, everyone around it will know where you mean.
Driving during the 1970s all I had was a road atlas, then when nearing an unfamiliar destination, a truck stop or about any service location usually responded to my query 'Where is this place?'. My oh my how the times have changed, and usually for the better. Thankee for the video, nice ride. BTW: What purpose did the broken airline serve?
Garmin. My experience with them is aviation-on general aircraft-think owner operator that MAYBE flies a 100/year-OK product. In a scheduled environment-airline type-NOPE. Purple spent a TON of money on supposed "upgrades" to an all glass cockpit-think TV screens-on it's now rapidly dwindling fleet of Cessna 208's-and the In Service Reliability stunk quite frankly. Now that was several years ago-I have been retired from the airline industry since 2021-so quite possibly they have improved. I would hope so-they do have a pretty good rep otherwise.
Not sure what that air valve or fitting is? Has me curious to see if I have that on my truck, i can't remember. Hope you're home enjoying Thanksgiving with the family! I haven't been in Dodge for a few months. They have me hauling from Denver to Tulsa currently. I'll keep my eye open for you along the stretch of I-70 you run west of Salina. I have been running during the night only.
@truckingwithschmidt7120 That last big storm a week or so ago almost trapped me out there. Roads going east were all closed. I had to go south to Pueblo and get on 50 and go back east from there. I just trucked straight to Tulsa and returned home from there. Then had about 3 days off as I-70 was still closed to Denver even after I returned to my house. They say it dumped 40 inches in some places.
Yea Buddy, Black Ice gives a vehicle a sniff factor of 8 out of 10. Chinese is not fast food. It is real food good for one's health and I consider it restaurant food. The german not riding shotgun for now. Your profit margin is going up a hair with no cheese burgers to satisfy his appetite and you wont need to hang the black ice as there won't be any after dinner smells rolling out his fufu valve. Your on a winner for a while dude. Take it easy.
Happy Thanksgiving! Question, have you ever checked out hauling household like moving & storage? I heard somewhere that full trailer loads are lighter, no tight dispatch schedules, and no reefer units to mess with. Thank you stay safe.

God Bless ❤Kurt n your family. Safe travels in trucking world.Amen ❤£7~Amen ❤

I wish i was that organized
Surprised your not more organized because your particular about cleanliness.
Yea Buddy, I run preventative maintenance on my cars and bike. Only way to roll.
670 miles? That's pretty damn good.
I felt sorry for your back. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours 😊🦃🥧
Great video Kurt !
Fun day. Sleep well. 😴

Anytime I can sit down and eat versus stuff a hotdog while fueling is a plus.
That airline you fixed could be a leveling valve that keeps the truck leveled up and safe travels out there
When I worked on my friends truck, back in the 80's all they had, was the rubber lines and Weatherhead fittings.😊
Mcdonals has $5 meal of double cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, french fries, pop. Get that!
Oh mom, you guys and your McDonald's
Great deal and Kurt remember mom knows best ♥️
It's 🔥🔥🙋🏼 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍽️✌🏼
Yuck can’t stand McDonald’s to salty. But I love their coffee and ice cream though.
Thanks for sharing.

Vice grips are an approved tool for almost everything acording to derek bieri at Vicegrip garage.
If they made braided line for air hoses/ lines it would last 20 years but of coarse cost a lot more.
Hi Kurt and Opie
Chinese food; I consider it a legit restaurant experience, unless it has a drive thru, then it fast food, to me anyway. Bloody Hell! He must be British or an Aussie! Love listening to them!
If I'm thinking right that part goes for your suspension dump
Give Opie a hug from me mark in Kansas
HAPPY BELATED THANKSGIVING PRAY IT WAS GREAT 🚂🚂🇺🇸🇺🇸🍁🦃🍽🙏
Garmin road pro..I use one in the uk...

Kurt we use rubber lines with a 250lb psi rating and it's DOT Approved
back there between 77 and 79.

Schmidt likes the Black Ice!!
Panda Express is fast food. Most places are restaurants.
Careful of the hanging trees - folks will think you’re a dope smoker! LOL 😂 😂😂
The Wife and I bought a new
Garmin for our Big Truck about
a year ago and put the old one up for a backup, it needs some
updates done to show where
roadwork has been done, I'm
loving ours!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Brass pushon connectors better than plastic. They cost more but they last alot longer.
Good evening Kurt
I’ve ran my garmin OTR 800 for over 3 years and still no issues
Air fresheners are cheaper on. Amazon.
Mr. Kurt, that valve looked like a dump valve for suspension.
McRib available this time of year. Best sandwich ever.
Not sure what that valve thing for either but I know u will figure it out I've heard from lot truckers that truckers path app is really good for gps and finding truck stops and all that good stuff
I'm hoping to Brett

Normally Chinese food is not processed like fast food. Many steam fresh broccoli, rice…however they do use a lot of salt and even sugar.
The are known to use a heavy amount of MSG (MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE) Not healthy especially on high blood pressure.
Happy Thanksgiving. With the temperature getting colder, I would put some air brake antifreeze in the air tanks.
Truth
Yup, dumped some in.
I have used moonshine to clean rust and moisture from air systems. I was loosing valves ftequently. I drove that Pete another 6 winters with no more valve issues.
Happy Thanksgiving to the Schmidt Family! 🦃🦃🦃🦃Watch out for the Holiday Traffic nuts.
That is your dump valve.
my uncle and i used to visit the mandarin house once a month or so and sit down to a good Chinese meal. we took turns paying. I miss those outings. I miss my uncle.
I bet you do
If the CB doesn't work, why then is it on?
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁 to you & your wonderful family Kurt! Stay safe out here on the roads once again.
Thanks! You too!

Las Vegas has several Chinese buffet restaurants (not in hotel/casinos )and their clean and 40+ variety of food for only $17. Excellent
I like my Garman use it all the time
It’s called a whichmacallit. Air lines break all the time on those. 😂😂😂
Top of the morning and evening to ya, Kurt!
Also happy thanksgiving!!!!!!!

Where’s Opie?

No clue. I replaced it. But still don't know.
Tonganoxie Kansas is on highway 59 north of highway 24 north of Perry Kansas driver your sure going a longways out of your way on highway 75.
My son-in-law works for Garmin in Kansas City. He is an Engineer, works in product development. It seems to be a pretty good company to work for.

Chinese is a sit down meal on Christmas day. Saw it in a movie so it must be true. Happy Thanksgiving Kurt and family.
Chinese shouldn't be considered fast food. #1 harder to eat in a car/truck. #2 has many varieties So should be at a table.
🦃🦃🦃🦃Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🦃🦃🦃
🍭SWEET🍭🦃May The Lord Envelope You & Your Family With His Love & Blessings This Thanksgiving Day & Always Kurt! Be safe🙏🏼💖👍🏻🇺🇸🌞🕊
You should try Trucker Path like SuperTruckerDan!...
Ice road truckers talked about using rubber air lines vs plastic.

A big NOPE on the GPS for driving. When I drove OTR, I used Streets & Trips as a map and Google satellite to check out my destination.

My Garmin is Still working after 6 years and Yeah I use Google Maps to see the layout of pickups and Deliveries 🚚
Chinese is not fast food. For me at least.
15 or so years ago i'd have offered to fix you CB but i just don't have the equipment needed anymore. When I retired, I got rid of all my CB stuff.
Darn it.
Far from a McDonald's...I call them the throw up drive thru...Chinese is a restaurant...
God Bless ❤Kurt n your family. Safe travels in trucking world.Amen ❤£7~Amen ❤
