    How van it be low calorie if still use sugar??? The amount of calories in an egg white is minimum compared to the sugar calories.

      Whipped foods have air dispersed in them which makes these lower in calories than other denser sweets like stuffed salted caramel cookies or dark chocolate bites

      egg has been replaced to make it vegan, not to reduce calories.

      If you use egg whites, the sugar still remains in the recipe, so the calories from sugar is the same, but the aquafaba has less calories than egg whites, so it's still technically lower in calories than using egg.

    Does the order matter when whisking everything? I'm looking at all different recipes, and pretty much every one of them (including this one) differs where the order is concerned. One says to mix the sugar and vanilla extract together and whisk the aquafaba alone for 1 minute, and only then add the cream of tartar. Another says to put everything sans sugar in the mixer before whisking. And now, this one is completely different. Which one is best? The only thing that is common is to add the sugar gradually. Also, can I use non-alcoholic vanilla extract? Do the meringues need to rest in the oven for an hour or so? Thanks for reading all of these questions.

    This is cool, but I think it's kinda strange that they used natural red food coloring for a vegan recipe. They could have used any other color and it would've been actually vegan..?

    • @autumnjoseph1081
      @autumnjoseph1081 6 лет назад

      Lauren Lewis yes it would still be vegan. She was just being specific about the color she used for the video. Make sure you using organic natural food dyes or you run the risk of seirous health problems. Artifical Red 40 is linked to tumors in rats and ADHD. As well as every other fake color. Buying natural food coloring makes your taste buds and body safer! And vegan!

      @@autumnjoseph1081 not all red food colouring is vegan: one type of natural red food colouring comes from an insect and isn't vegan
