    I think Lego Knights Kingdom was an interesting theme nonetheless, I think it did well for what is intended to serve, easy to build action figures. I liked a lot of the character designs and like you said, it was a refresher for LEGO Castle and Knights related stuff.

      I agree - it was certainly a refreshing theme and while it building techniques and designs were somewhat questionable, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing constraction knights again

    I think good way to bring back constraction like you said is mechs. Lego can do something similar to Hero Factory’s Invasion from Below with the mechs being ccbs with the minifigures and other things being system.

      I agree; I’m actually a big fan of Invasion from Below unlike some other people so that would definitely be a great way to blend the two systems

    The only Knights kingdom set I had was Dracus. Unfortunatley, I lost his sword, and ruined his shield by coloring on it with a blue sharpie.
    I really like Sir Santis's unique color scheme!

    • @DuckBricks
      @DuckBricks  3 года назад +2

      Shame about the sharpie! I did that to a lot of my clone troopers as a kid as well, kicking myself for it nowadays haha
      And yeah, that dark green and flat dark gold mix looks really good!

      Oops! Sorry, you’re right! I was referencing Rascus, but I’d say both the color schemes are really interesting - especially that metallic blue for Santis!

      The bulk of the sets I had from this theme were from 2005, where I owned every constraction figure except Sir Rascus (8793) for some reason. I did though obtain the initial incarnations of Rascus and Jayko subsequently. I only owned two of the minifigure-scale sets, which were "Vladek Encounter" (8777) and the "Battle Wagon" from 2005, though I did know someone who had the "Citadel of Orlan" (8780).

    I never knew the wave two figures had unique action functions! I only ever got Jayko from that year.

    Was never too bothered by the action figures, but I really like the minifigs in the system sets! How each knight had a unique design and colour, it made each of them look like they belonged to their own unique noble-house with its own traditions and stuff. I imagined Morcia like a Game of thrones-ish kingdom where the four knights were like the "great houses", and they had their own vassals and stuff.

    I really need to get around to buying Vladek. I found a few decent deals for him. In fact, I should just get them all, so many armor and weapons good for moccing. I never was into it that much tbh until after it was discontinued. Yet again another great video and looking forward to the next!

    Dang, I'm looking at the knight's kingdom figure helmets and wondering if some of them would work in a constraction ninjago figure moc.
    Santis and Jayko's visors in particular really do look like a ninja's hood.

    • @DuckBricks
      @DuckBricks  3 года назад +1

      Ohh, they definitely would! In fact, even some of the later Wave 3 knights had Technic axle connections at the top of the helmet for really secure and easy use in MOCs; I’ve seen a lot of Bionicle MOCs use them creatively and a constraction Ninjago MOC would be super interesting!

    Before I got into Bionicle, this was my favorite theme by far. I loved following the story through the different instruction manuals and picture books (never got to read the chapter books, though). My only gripe at the time was that we never got the army builders as constraction figures. I remember really wanting a Shadow Knight figure, especially since you could do cool stuff with a plain black torso. I never noticed that gargoyle card, though, that could've been an awesome build that finally made use of the System connections on the figures' backs.

      That’s awesome! KK is definitely an underrated theme with a surprisingly high amount of artwork and thought put into it story-wise

    I the good guy figurines (except the bad guy) and one system set, my mother didn't liked the very much because she thought they were more dull and boring than Bionicle, so i didn't got a lot of them and well i ended up vaulting them away, and recently found them again while looking for my Bionicle sets 😅

    • @DuckBricks
      @DuckBricks  3 года назад +1

      Haha nice! Yeah imo they’re far inferior to Bionicle but still really interested pieces of LEGO history - my biggest issue with them is they’re so hard to stand and pose without them just falling over, to the point where it’s nearly impossible

      @@DuckBricks yeah, i remember i had that same problem when i was a kid, so always just had them laying around, its posability isn't very good, and the "gear function" as you mention, is very limited and made most of them a little boring to build too

    I liked these a lot back in the day!
    the builds were weak compared to bionicle but the unique colors in the 2nd wave, the potentially great (but cut short) story, the really good system sets and the amazing metallic weapons are all reasons why I will always like and respect this line

    Hey, the guys with swords, shields, and armor are using all that stuff to fight one another! You can't do that!
    At that point, why even make the theme? I get that it was LEGO's policy, and they still have it to a degree, of nonviolence in their toys, but you're marketing to 6 year old boys, they can turn any object they get their hands on into a sword, a gun, or castration device, it's just what they do, so you might as well just lean into it. Obviously, don't make anything graphic, but if your knights are going to have weapons, the implications are already there, what's the harm in a few clashing swords or a nice block with a shield?

    • @DuckBricks
      @DuckBricks  3 года назад +1

      100% agreed - it’s so silly to me how there were such strict restrictions on combat for the official story. If you read the behind the scenes/making it blurb, this was heavily, HEAVILY enforced - to they point where the creators had to bend over backwards to show henchmen and enemy knights being defeated in ways that did not involve the use of 1.) the custom molded unique swords every set came with or 2.) the action features that swing said swords that was a major marketing point in the theme. They even got to the point where they had to toss boulders, or push them, or trick them into looking somewhere else / but never ever swing a sword. So strange to me and I’m glad LEGO’s lightened up on that policy
