      Yes! Same. Here in Colorado a pure 67% of revenue goes to schools. That's the number after all the greasiness and pay outs other places. It's a lot of money for schools. Our Dui's are down as well.

    • @manchurianatlarge
      @manchurianatlarge 6 лет назад +4

      Oh yeah no question, alcoholics actually suffer physical symptoms from alcohol withdrawal. And that shit just gets worse and worse with each withdrawal (look up "kindling", if you are curious), which can go as far as seizure and death.
      Also alcohol is just such an integral part of our culture, like can you imagine hanging out with a bunch people at a loud bar or party for like 8 hours (a whole working day) without a drop of alcohol? No, you need booze to get through those social occasions, especially since everyone else will be drinking. I mean have you ever tried to talk to drunk people sober? So once you are a bona fide alcoholic, your choices become a) keep drinking and potentially die from that, b) drink occasionally and risk more and more severe withdrawals and potentially die from that, c) stop drinking and must get through social situations completely unaided, or d) stop drinking and become a hermit.
      Don't get me wrong, alcohol is fun, but holy crap that stuff is dangerous as hell.

      He has an Attorney General that thinks keeping marijuana illegal is his reason for being. They all pretend it's about health and community, etc. No, it's about the same 1% that just received a huge tax cut that will be paid for out of hard working American's social security and Medicare...they own our government and it's their profits that come before anything including the facts. Think of all the people that will lose money for this one law...from police departments that survive on the fines paid for minor marijuana charges to the auto manufacturers that have a number of cars that need to be sold (crashed/totaled and replaced) to maintain profits (not to mention all the parts that go on cars, insurance, courts, judges, attorney's, etc. etc. etc.) and private prisons and let's not forget the 2 big guys...pharmaceutical and alcohol manufacturers. It's all a big lie. Anything that is controversial over multiple administrations, decades without a resolution...there is a lie for profit somewhere in the mix.

    If you can smoke pot legally it's not illegal or criminal anymore. No need for criminal gangs and they will lose a substantial part of their income, some more than others. Less criminals is less violence. Less violence is less overworked cops ...

      It is very expensive. Where it is illegal in the east coast like New York and Virginia it can be $150 for a 1/4 ounce. It was $50 an 1/8 of an ounce in the mid 1980's and $100 for 1/4 ounce. Now today it is about $200-240 per full ounce in Colorado. So that's half the price it was in the mid 1980's. But yes, it is a very expensive herb.

    You've never heard a story where a driver wrecked and killed someone while high because they were only smoking pot ......there isnt any case in history where someone overdosed or beat the hell out of their wife because they smoked a blunt. I freely and openly smoke weed AND I happen to know as a matter of fact, that I drive, pay attention, and function with more manners and in a more civil and aware State of Mind than a lot of people. Not to mention my dad had a very bad accident where the entire right side of his body was crushed, and has been through several problems with addiction. Now it turns out the only thing that does help him, is smoking pot. The doctors always wanted to have him addicted to pills and different substances that would make his moods and pain levels go up and down, and they were constantly changing it around because of the regulations that were being put on these Pharmaceuticals. It was wrong to make marijuana illegal so long ago and it went against everything that the rich people in the United States had to lose at that point.

    California lead the way when they legalized medical cannabis in 1996. Then, Washington and Colorado legalized recreational use which gave more states the drive and momentum needed to legalize recreational weed. Now that Cali has recreational weed, the state will have MAJOR influence over the rest of the nation, and other countries as well. I like to look at Canada as a cannabis ally. Once the recreational law in Canada takes effect in July, this could also influence the rest of the globe once people see the financial benefits! Legalization is a domino game. If you legalize it in one place, another will inevitably legalize, and the process will keep going until it’s eventually legalized everywhere!

    • @veek.6463
      @veek.6463 6 лет назад +3

      Sentences will remain likely. It depends on the law. Itf the law is one ounce then that is safe. If someone gets pulled over with a qp them of course that is serious trouble. Anyone arrested on dec 31 for possession will be under the original law for possession. I was on jury duty 3 months after rec was active in Colorado and 9 months after the vote. The case was for a man who had allowed his house to be used for a sale of 15 lbs to undercover officers. The kingpins as the judge called hem posted bail and this man was on trial as he had not posted his 40,000 bail. He had arranged the meeting and used his house. I think he did some time.

      You can seek to have your charge reclassified if your charge would not be considered illegal under the new law. We are talking about possession of up to an ounce, or having been convicted of growing with intent to distribute with under 6 plants. Any assault, battery, or other non related misdemeanor charge incurred at the same time will not be able to be reclassified. Only intent to distribute (under the laws new limit) can be petitioned for reclassification.

    Cenk, I am offering my services as a copy editor. You guys honestly need the help. California is the 7th largest economy in the world. California does not need to be a country to have this distinction.

      Of course you didn't have any issues with it, cannabinoids (the alkaloids of the cannabis plant) are not poisonous, actually almost all of them has positive medical effects. Cannabidiol (CBD) is useful against many types of cancer, it stops uncontrollable cell growth, effectively kills pains, it's anti-inflammatory, soothes the nervous system, kills nausea, generates appetite and so on. And this was only one of its alkaloids. The most important things about marijuana: you can't overdose it and it won't make you sick, therefore it won't kill you.

    Can you guys talk about how this will benefit countries such as Mexico, central America, and some countries in the South and Caribbean. Making weed legal will provide a new economic boom of income and become a cash crop. It will also decrease or eliminate violent crime and gangs in those countries because they will have an incentive to become a legitimate corporation, thus be part of society in a constructive way. Thoughts anyone?

    Legal weed price per 8th in CA- 50-60$
    Street weed price in CA- 20$
    Regulated and taxed to the point where it won’t kill the black market and will make it very hard for regular people to get licenses and meet regulations, favoring the rich and corporations.

    Next let’s legalize prostitution since it’s almost legal anyway, as long as the act is being caught on camera
