  • The Wii version of Pikmin is quite flawed when compared to the other two versions of the game. Watch this video to find out why. Does anyone even read these? I hope not, I suck at writing descriptions.

    There is a reason for the NA release of the Pikmin 2 port being delayed: they had to the get the licenses for the real life products in the game, It's also probably why they just straight up removed them in the Switch version, to not have to go through that much trouble.

  • @ToaderTheToad

    You forgot a few improvements:
    The Wii version introduced time travelling which was carried over to the Switch port
    Carrying numbers were changed to be more like Pikmin 2, allowing you to see which onion a enemy/pellet is heading towards
    Similarly Pikmin ghosts were changed from all being blue to matching their living form's color like in Pikmin 2

    About throwing Pikmin, you only need to wag the Nunchuk stick and keep Olimar in front of the Pikmin squad if you want to do rapid-throwing. Much more comfortable, practical, and you keep your aiming steady.

      I think it might be because the bulborb is sleeping on a not so super flat area? I’m pretty sure this issue is present with some other enemies due to not super flat terrain

  • @lukers9819
    @lukers9819 7 месяцев назад +13

    Woah. I've been a hardcore Pikmin fan since I was about 12 and I never knew that those high pitched sounds that the sleeping bulborbs made were supposed to be snores. Mind blowing actually. I just thought that they added the snore sound effect in Pikmin 2.
    Also, the crushing glitch is absolute trash and I hate it. It made getting my 9 day run extremely difficult, though I have accomplished it twice on the wii. I have definitely encountered all of these glitches during my play time numerous times, with the exception of never seeing the Libra glitch.

  • @volvoman5262

    I am still nostalgic about the terrible sound effects due to Chuggaconroy's Let's Play.
    I grew up with the GameCube version, but I always saw those differences as "easter eggs" or intentional changes due to their low profile because of the let's play commentary. They sounded like squeaky toys!
    It's still a shame that a buggier game became even buggier, but at least things like sequence breaks seen to remain in tact, unlike Metroid Prime's immediate Space Jump boots trick being removed, for example.

    I think it's worth bringing up that a lot of people prefer the Wii versions solely because of the new pointer controls, the main appeal of the Wii releases. Many people including myself like having the ability to move the captain and cursor separately and it alone makes the Wii versions of 1 and 2 the best versions for me easily. Too bad the Switch versions use 4's awful motion/stick hybrid controls

    Honestly I’m just too used to the Wii version lol. Mainly just like the widescreen, controls don’t matter that much but i definitely prefer them. Though admittedly I did run into a loooot of Pikmin dying for no reason. (Also I think the audio glitch happens due to the game incorrectly pitching up the sound way more than it’s supposed to? Not 100% sure on that though)

  • @therealvolcano
    @therealvolcano 7 месяцев назад +8

    you mentioned the counter glitch and crushing glitch but it's kinda debatable whether it's actually worse on wii (i'm currently doing testing)
    you mentioned swarm trick but you neglected to mention Wii has another, better trick where you rest your cursor on the place you throw at and move olimar throughout your squad for instant throwing
    you also say that 2 had modern throwing but this is false, throwing is the same as pikmin 1, but pikmin move to your hand faster
    and for the bomb rock ppint you didnt mention that bombs can be faster on wii since you have much better aiming
    and you say seitch carries over improvements but it utterly butcheres the main reason why wii is the best, the motion controls
    on switch the gyro is slower, more limited in range, and only wirks when throeing or whistling, which is completely inferior to the full decoupled aiming of wii

    I don't think I've ever heard that Bulborb snoring glitch, and most of the time I've played Pikmin 1 on the wii. Or many of these glitches, really.
    The one I'm really familiar with is the crushing glitch which is annoying, but it's still in the GameCube version anyway.
    I personally love the Wii port simply because being able to so accurately throw pikmin where I want is just so nice.

    I remember hearing that the EU version of pikmin 1 didn't have the high-pitched enemy sounds that the US version did, so I tried to diagnose it by extracting the game files and digging through, changing things around, and repackaging the ISO. Turns out, the enemy sounds are linked to the onion sounds. In the EU copy, the enemy sounds are normal speed, but the onion sounds are slower and lower-pitched. In the US, it's the complete reverse. Try producing pikmin seeds in both versions, and you'll see.

    I've never had an issue with the sound effects in the wii version of Pikmin 1, but I have had issues with the wiimote speaker going crusty (only while playing this one particular game) and there is a bar of random colours on the bottom of the screen. I use the PAL version since that is what released here in the UK. Don't know if it's a problem with my copy or if these are version differences.

  • @justjeffrey5941
    @justjeffrey5941 7 месяцев назад

    While I haven't played the switch version, I have played Wii and Gamecube versions.
    Honestly, I don't agree with a lot of things in the video.
    First off, maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never had the Libra Glitch, only had the crushing glitch once, and the snores while weird and had the counter glitch a few times, aren't anything significant enough to write about nor annoying or harmful enough to be a problem. Otherwise the game runs perfectly fine with fairly few glitches here and there.
    Secondly about bombs, while having bomb-rocks that manually be thrown before going off is slower, it's overall much safer and makes them more organized rather then being a bomb that could go off if they happened to be separated. Plus the fact other Pikmin will run away from a bomb about to go off is super helpful too.
    Also about the controls overall, I will say, that using a wii remote and nunchuck feels a lot more comfortable and responsive then a Gamecube controller or joy-cons. Doesn't feel as limiting in throwing, slower sure but feels a lot better. Not to mention, the ability to swap Pikmin in your hand like they do in 2 onwards rather then disband or shuffle around to grab the one you want is a VERY welcome change compared to the Gamecube.
    As for the Bulbax fight, while I will say the Bulblax fight is overall better on Gamecube with the ability to drop bombs more easily, but like you said about bombs on Gamecube, you can get used to it. Especially if you used Bomb Rocks to take out enemies before hand and watch the boss's predictable patterns. Wouldn't say it's 'ruined' by any stretch.
