My dear sis, it's only this way because we haven't been taught truth! Academics are great but, they can only take you so far. In Hosea 4:6 God says " my people perish for lack of knowledge." He means His knowledge received from the bible and the Holy Spirit. Make Him priority in your life and I GUARANTEE your life (not just your finances)will improve in ways you can't even imagine. We must not forget to include the fact that having wisdom will profit you very little if you're in rebellion to God's commandments. His word is clear, that once we seek the kingdom of God and all His righteousness (Matthew 6:33) and we obey all His commandments and precepts that He will bless us with every blessing we could ask for (Deuteronomy 28:1-15). As far as improving our finances, we must be obedient to the scriptures that command us to give to the less fortunate, the widowed, the orphaned, and all those who need our help. Proverbs 19:17 says, He who is gracious and lends a hand to the poor lends to the LORD and the LORD will repay him who gives. So many of us have been taught to tithe 10% (which is not biblical) but we are never reminded to give to the poor. Remember God said "my people perish for lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6 His knowledge!!
As Christians, part of Wisdom is listening to the Holy Spirit, Who is our Teacher and will lead, guide and direct us, including who and where to give. The first place we are to give is to give at our place of worship, where we get our weekly feedings, take care of our families including elderly relatives, who are widows or widowers or single parents with children and then make sure we give only as God leads us. There are a lot of people, including ungodly people try to take advantage of Christians. Follow the leading of the Holy Ghost. He will never lead you wrong.

Truly when we have a real close, personal and intimate relationship with Christ Jesus, we come to understand that everything belongs to God and we are recipients of His Goodness and Blessings. Tithing came before the Law of Moses (the Law was only for the Jewish Nation, not Gentiles or non-Jews). Abraham tithe to The Priest of Salem, which was Christ before God gave the Law to Moses. In Hebrews tithing is discussed. The Apostle Paul talked about setting aside money at the beginning of each week to be used to help the poor in II Corinthians and he also talked about us following the pattern of Christ Jesus, where it is more blessings in giving, because in truth, we reap the harvest of every seed sown. Yes, we are to remember the orphans, widows and the poor because God says when we give to the poor we are lending to the LORD and we can never, ever, out give God because He is truly an Amazingly Generous and Kind as well as loving and Awesome God, who load us down with His Abundance in every good and perfect gift. When we truly have a RELATIONSHIP with Christ (we live, we move and we have our being in Him) The Spirit of Christ, The Holy Ghost will let us know if a person or situation is of God or not, including when to give and what. I read and study God's Word daily (God, His Word (which is Jesus) and The Holy Ghost are One). I also pray in the Spirit (pray in tongues) and spent quiet times throughout the day listening to God speak to my inner man, which is my born-again spirit. As a new Testament believer, 10% is the bare minimum. When we truly begin to experience the goodness of God, giving becomes automatic. Most Pastors I know, who are genuine men and women of God give much, much more than that. To be honest in most ministries only 20% of the congregation give on a consistent bases. However, the people who give the less or nothing at all will expect the church to help them with everything when they have not been wise stewards with their finances. People want to live a champagne life on a beer budget and spend their money on "wants" and not "needs" and then get mad at the church when they say "no." The Body of Christ (churches) primary mission is to teach and preach the gospel of Christ Jesus and to mature the Body of Christ up so that we can operate in the gifts and talents God has given us to bring us into the true knowledge of Christ Jesus and be witnesses (live lives that reflect the nature and character of Christ). Religion has people finding fault with everyone and everything. Religion keeps people from looking in the Word of God, which is a mirror to our souls and asking God to help us individually and collectively to repent from sins, including, anger, hurt (church hurt), fear, anxiety, strife, greed, jealousy, adultery, fornication, idolatry, pride, etc., namely, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. When we allow God to truly shine the spotlight of His Word in us and stop running from Him and stop believing the lies of satan (like he beguile Eve in the Garden of Eden), then as Jesus said "The Truth will set/make you free." We are free to love unconditionally and when we truly understand and have that close, personal, intimate and life giving Gift of Life, Christ Jesus ♥ we will give freely as we have received freely. We can never, ever out give God.

I have oatmeal almost every morning...I add walnuts, raisins, almonds, and a banana into it... Love it....I am 68 and want to retire, but 1+1 is not adding up to 2. I'm a tither, have no credit card debt, and have paid everything off except my mortgage...I don't have enough finances to retire from my job. I have written two books, have 2 Award-nominateds screenplays and two theater plays. I don't know how to make these things work for me, so I can get my freedom.

These thoughts come to me: Your lack of wealth in the world. Shows your true worth in christ. Which is greater than imaginable. Overflow and abundance of portion and life. No place to call home in the world, yet a home fit for kings with christ..Why take a slice when you can have the whole loaf. Wealth is not a need. But can form a degenerate seed. Death of desire leads to the life of having it all. Want for nothing. And that nothing (lack) will be enough... Hope this helps someone God bless and keep you all!

The Body of Christ (churches) primary mission is to teach and preach the gospel of Christ Jesus and to mature the Body of Christ up so that we can operate in the gifts and talents God has given us to bring us into the true knowledge of Christ Jesus and be witnesses (live lives that reflect the nature and character of Christ).
Religion has people finding fault with everyone and everything. Religion keeps people from looking in the Word of God, which is a mirror to our souls and asking God to help us individually and collectively to repent from sins, including, anger, hurt (church hurt), fear, anxiety, strife, greed, jealousy, adultery, fornication, idolatry, pride, etc., namely, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
When we allow God to truly shine the spotlight of His Word in us and stop running from Him and stop believing the lies of satan (like he beguile Eve in the Garden of Eden), then as Jesus said "The Truth will set/make you free."
We are free to love unconditionally and when we truly understand and have that close, personal, intimate and life giving Gift of Life, Christ Jesus ♥ we will give freely as we have received freely.
We can never, ever out give God.
Love the message. It’s one thing to be broke just don’t let it make you broken. A lot of people waste their time pursuing a degree they can’t find a job with or they figure out its not what they wanted.

When we know this and practice this awareness life takes on a whole new meaning and you would never ever lack.

I have oatmeal almost every morning...I add walnuts, raisins, almonds, and a banana into it... Love it....I am 68 and want to retire, but 1+1 is not adding up to 2. I'm a tither, have no credit card debt, and have paid everything off except my mortgage...I don't have enough finances to retire from my job. I have written two books, have 2 Award-nominateds screenplays and two theater plays. I don't know how to make these things work for me, so I can get my freedom.

Thinking on a few verses, mixed with How my family have been struggling to find a home for several years now.
These thoughts come to me:
Your lack of wealth in the world. Shows your true worth in christ. Which is greater than imaginable. Overflow and abundance of portion and life. No place to call home in the world, yet a home fit for kings with christ..Why take a slice when you can have the whole loaf. Wealth is not a need. But can form a degenerate seed. Death of desire leads to the life of having it all. Want for nothing. And that nothing (lack) will be enough...
