If we are lucky, they'll make it backwards compatible with Switch and expand the online service to include everything up to Wii U and 3DS by the end of it's life span. And then we'll be able to play games from every Nintendo console on one console. I also hope they add an arcade section and Game and Watch section on the online service. If they allow the Switch in handheld mode to communicate wirelessly with the dock to allow touch screen tablet to function as a second screen, like the Wii U tablet, it should allow for DS, 3DS, and Wii U games to be playable.
@vanIvan The Wii U could already play DS games. The eshop closed so you can't buy them anymore, but you could play them by using the wii u gamepad as the second screen.
@Darren MacQueen well, that was working only because gamepad didn't contain any hardware, it was literally a streaming video receiver (like Sony's new Q Lite). I doubt that dock will be significantly improved in the next revision. Otherwise, quite a big chunk of portable only players would not buy that new system (including me).

I just want them to allow for using the TV and handheld screen together mainly so DS 3DS and Wii U games can be played on it. Maybe a few new games would use it, but most probably won't. Just like most games on the Switch don't use the motion controls either. Nintendo has returned to largely making traditional games again. I doubt you'd have much to worry about even if they implemented this.

This addition to the emulator of the Wii on the Switch SHOULD of happen a long time ago. But the updates for the Nes, SNES and etc hasn't brought out the big companies like Capcom and everyone else who support their systems. I hope that this will encourage them to step up, because I'm hoping but as not holding my breath too.
Nintendo would need to make a Sensor bar peripheral and a new Wii Remote controller which they would price high since the switch joycon motion controls are janky for the IR pointer needed for almost all Wii games. No hope for this thing to go well. Emulate the thing instead.

I can't imagine how to play DS and 3DS games on TV, so I highly doubt the idea of including them. Maybe Wii and Gamecube, but definitely not Wii U.
