The Supercars series has undergone major changes for the 2023 season so we headed back to Tickford Racing's Melbourne headquarters to catch up with Matt Roberts and see how different the new Gen3 Ford Mustang is under its skin in this collaboration video with @RycoFiltersOfficial
Supercars has become a joke in recent years. Parity adjustment after another. 7 in one year to the Mustang. None so far to this years camero. I’m glad I’m not in this joke of a series anymore
Even though there's no doses in this video and I don't really have much interest in V8 Supercars, this was really good to watch. The Fullboost boys haven't peaked yet after 25 years. They just keep getting better and better.
Nice to see the flame out the exhaust again. I think they should fit Barra 4 litre to the mustangs, no more than 2k mods just to keep the power under 1400 rear kw.
What are you talking about? These are full blown bespoke motors that are meant to run flat out for hours. An off the shelf motor will not keep up, even if they're great at making power on the cheap. A street motor and a race motor are entirely different beasts.
@@Xeil they're not bespoke. They're literally built from obtainable parts off the shelf. Both motors are. You can literally buy everything for both of these engines from aftermarket manufacturers.
Great content and film / edit as usual. Really appreciate the great content and know I'm gonna get some good tech info in a bite size that's not full of shit and any sponsorship is pretty transparent. Like a few others have said not my cup of tea but with this series but some good info which is what I came here for. Cheers lads and everyone involved, the best Aussie channel on the tube and still probably one of the best for what you do globally IMHO. 🤘
*Sigh* I miss the old touring cars & late 90's/ early 2000's V8 Supercars. Bench watching Perkins channel, seeing those old racing gals brings back good memories
Great video FB team‼️ My stock standard GM LSA clubby engine is getting a 'Lil bit envious of the Ford Coyote exhaust orchestra. Just a tinge of green. Seriously great video guys. I can't wait to see 187+ MPH / 300+ KPH at Bathurst or et all.
Hard to say for a Ford fan. Can't see the Stang winning a race let alone the C'ship this year. But if it was the Stang that had won all the races this year something would have been done about it.
I know people will whine about the new rules for Gen3 but in fact having limitations will aide in innovation which will feed down to the street. Whether it will be better injectors. DIY carbon kits for home or Ryco make that airbox for the street. it will all eventually improve innovations and make parts cheaper. PS Single Cam FTW!
The Coyote V8 sounds absolutely amazing , and the Chev V8 with its symmetrical port alignment sounds amazing as well. One of many things that bother me in this category is the Engines should be exactly the same capacity .
Did i hear that correctly? A 5.4 coyote?! I thought they had to stay the 5.0 V8s as per v8 super car rules, obviously the rules changed. But what year did this happen?
@@fullboost well there you go! Learn something new everyday, thanks for the quick reply. PS I fuckin know you're twins aye, other half starts laughing when I'm watching your show, I'm screaming at the TV that you two ARE twins and you dont fool me! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Gentleman top video as always can uz point me to a good utube channel that will give me good highlights of the supercar championship as my heart aint in btcc.😎😎👌👌✌✌
Having owned a Mustang and now owning a ZL1 Camaro I must admit even with just a cat back exhaust the Mustang sounds better but unless it's a R-Spec or a supercharger added the ZL1 shits on the Mustang. A couple of things I don't get about the Gen 3 cars is only 350 ZL1'S were converted by HSV/GMSV and there's no talk of them bringing any more and now Walkinshaw (HSV/GMSV) now run Mustangs?
I see lots of prangs at bathurst in these cars . Downforce at bathurst is a must . The new series does nothing for me but some men love fat women too .
The coyote is a factory cast v8 . No one on earth has done aftermarket cylinder heads for the coyote / modulars. Mmr are in the works of doing billet cylinder heads heads. Not really needed tho considering the factory cast coyote cylinder heads with cnc work have made 4000 odd hp
So now that this is 1 large single throttle body is this easyer to map, maintain ect? Not a V8 fan boy but can't deniey they are yhe bolloxs. 💖 Fords full stop 😎😎✌✌👌👌👍👍 frm the UK
Since the Mustang's previous generation lost to front wheel drive based Commodores, they'll have no hope toppling the Vauxhall's successor, the Camaro.

@Xeil the barra is made from unobtainium, and those gen3 supercar engines are merely throw away crate jobs.

The whole 15mins felt like a big budget TV production and I was watching the pre race build up. 👌
FullBOOST boys have got bills to pay also you know -
That was great Luke. I respect your knowledge and the contacts you have, and the respect they have for you. Cheers
I respect your respect for Luke's contacts respecting him
awesome insight into v8 supercars
"Basically this is a road car engine"
Rob Herrod: "No the absolute fuck it is NOT!"
The intake manifold is basically a road car, which is why the oil catch cans keep over flowing and catching fire.
Great video once again. Best part of the engine was definately that ryco filter 😉
Interesting vid
Great video luke im not a fan of supercars but enjoy you doing these tours
Great video. Race workshops are amazing.
Really been wanting a video like this. Thanks guys.
Chassis tech is amazing and the engine looks almost stock.
Come a long way!

I’m a Chevy guy but the fact they kept the stick instead of the paddle shifter says a lot about their passion for gt racing
Great interview Luke really digging the NA stuff👍
That is a really beautiful car

Awesome video! Very interesting! 👍🏻👍🏻
there's an racing V12 coyote in that facility somewhere hiding.
Just stumbled upon your channel, great interview mate 👍
Very good video guys!
Drink every time you hear "Ryco"! And RIP to my mate Dave who just died on the first play.
Great vid again boys, interesting to see what happens behind the scenes. It's a shame parody hasn't been achieved between the Mustang & Camaro.
F ks me off, no end !!!!
loved that info ,now fords actually running coyote.. engines that are basically production.
awesome stuff

EXACTLY, how many times has Ford been shafted like that now....I own an AU ll XR8, so I'd know !!
@@arkhsm Mate has a Series 3 AU XR 8 Narooma Blue Ute.
You're right Luke - "This video also comes fitted with a Ryco - Snytech filter...direct from the FullBoost factory"
Very underrated engine
I think I can handle a little advertising for a good peek at the Gen3.
4:31 - which one of those buttons starts the engine fire?
Haha very well said 👍
Great insight to how the game has changed. Very professional production to, you better be careful you might get drafted into the big time .

The ford would make 100+ more horsepower if they were they same displacement lol
@@colbyland500It should since it's bigger and heavier than the LT. They had to put ballast on the Chev V8 so that the two engines weigh the same.
5.4 dohc vs 5.7 pushrod...
@@johncarl5505 NOT bigger in swept volume, with which normal people describe engine size !!
too bad they dont use the whole oe car like how they use too instead of a full tube chassis with panels bolted to it
That intake 👌🏽
SUPER ineresting :)
Awesome car with great engineering but it’s not Australian. I could care less about mustangs racing Camaros, but I still love you’re channel fullas!
Bit hard when there are no Aussie cars :)
Supercars brand is done unfortunately
While not being Aussie shapes or engines, they are designed and made here which is good enough for me
The race cars are built in Australia...
If you really want to test the quality of a Ryco filter boys slap it on a limiter riding ls1 or a 2k Barra.
4 Valve 4 cam v8s will always sound better
Use the 7.3l godzilla

Try the official Supercars channel :)
Supercars really lost something for me when they went to a formula series. Bring back production racing!
Interesting that they don't run a "traditional" x-pipe.
I had no idea brock lesnar knew so much about cars 😂
Should’ve kept the 5 litre push rod engines .
Ya didn't ask why they haven't won a round lately tho and where was the 👉?
🤣

if the were smart should have had twin Throttle bodies on them , like the VL had ,
Mustang GT3 is twin like new Mustang...
Surely you could find a gearbox expert in the UK that could help you
Why not race actual Mustangs and Camaros.
Since the Mustang's previous generation lost to front wheel drive based Commodores, they'll have no hope toppling the Vauxhall's successor, the Camaro.
Oh look, another kit car pretending to be a real car.
Supercars are long gone, these are alien spacecrafts and are so less pleasing to watch
As per usual though, FORD was shafted in the parity stakes....NO REAL wins, and more than half way through the season now....FFS !!!!
I love you guys at full boost. But this brand is dead. Abandon ship. All done.
Supercars is still as popular as it's ever been.
Nothing is more cucked than watching millionaires race tube frame funny cars in circles that have nothing in common with street cars.
