Hi Phil, that scuff x satin is bloody lovely paint, it’s all I use, been using it for years, I got given a sample tin like you did and just fell in love with it, I put a splash of extender in it and wow what a difference that makes, especially on window boards, I use fossa micro silk extra short sleeves, I’ve not tried the 2 fussy blokes so I’ll give them a go at some point👍
I started using Benjamin Moore advanced satin in 2017. Started using Scuffex 3 years ago. Agree totally nothing compares to it. I’ve moved over from 2 fussy bloke to Staalmeester 5mm nap which I think are as good as 2 fussy but it’s a close call. Another well explained video Phil 😃👍🏻
Axus Decor 5" silk touch roller gives 2fb a run for their money. Used Scuff X eggshell for the first time and so far impressed, I've used a number of BM paints over recent years but never Scuff X.
I sprayed with the BM scuff x the last job i was on. Very very impressed. I usually spray with tik everall aqua but the BM has made me have to have a think! By the way, they do lids for those pelican inserts which is a godsend if you have 2 or 3 different colours on the go. 👍
I bought some Scuff X eggshell. All I can say is, as a DIYer, wow. It goes on as smooth as you like. I switched from Helmi 10 , applying by brush. It’s like night and day. Best paint I’ve ever used on woodwork.
Spot on Phil. I agree with you about the Scuff-X and thanks for the great review. If you have the chance, after what you’ve said about the Scuff-X if you have the chance you should try the Benjamin Moore Advanced. It’s amazing to paint with, it dries slowly, but it levels out perfectly and I know you like it at least as much as the Scuff-X. Thanks again for all the great videos Phil
Two fussy blokes rollers are so nice to use. A 5mm nap for Satin is beautiful. Scuff X - used to love it when the cans had the colour label you have here… they seem to have changed the formula now and updated the label colours. Opacity on Scuff x now is shocking. Even white on white nearly needs 3 coats. Scuff x what have you done?
Always use fussy blokes on my woodwork. However, the last few boxes I’ve bought have had problems. Not sure if it’s a drop in quality or a stray batch? Hopefully it’s the latter because they’re pretty much irreplaceable at the moment. I haven’t found an alternative with as good a finish.
paint may be expensive but I found it goes a hell of a long way. Been using it with their stix primer which is like 123 and the extra great thing with the scuff x is that unlike other quick dry products you can recoat in 3 hours without worrying if there’s a few tacky bits❤
Bit late to the party, only just started watching your videos and can’t fault them, very detailed and help tremendously! I’m not a decorator by trade (trained as a Chippy) but clients are asking me to do more painting. I’ve been using the Pelican pot for years and love it but curious to know why you hold the brush & roller when there’s a hook for the roller and a magnet for the brush all inside the pot🤔 I’ve been watching your videos with great interest re spraying, client of mine with a big house wants me to paint it top to bottom, built in bookcases, panelling, bespoke wardrobes, staircase, the list goes on so putting my hand in my pocket and getting a GRACO GX21 (new) for walls and ceiling and an Apollo Pro Spray1500 3s (used but in very good condition) for all the other bits. Fingers crossed I’ve learnt enough from you to give it a go 🤞🏻
Ever tried Staalmeester 5mm microfibre roller Phil? Would recommend you check them out, I find they hold more paint than the 2fb equivalent and also the application is as smooth as butter
You can see the difference mate, when looking at the door and the archive in the video. You can see that the door needs that second coat. Have you tried the roller on a flat door or surface. Do you get a stipple as on the texture door? It's more forgiving.? Like your videos. Keep saying it try the aura matte on the walls, mate. You won't go back.👍👍
Two fussy blokes every time. In my opinion the best finish for rolling all woodwork, however for a high gloss finish I like to apply with a roller and then lay off lightly with a decent brush. It's the best finish ever.
Hi Phil, love your vids and I'm an old fashioned oil lover and never got on with water but on your recommendations I'm going to get some scuff x and give it a whirl. Do they colour match f and b or little green into scuff x in brewers?
hmmm not sure actually.. I would think they may well do. give a nice rub down and dust off and coat up, BUT... get some brushes for it..... Arroworthy slash cut and also try the Monarch Advance range (not the Purdy ones). Pure bristle you'll find hard work.
You get 10 or so in a pack with the pro dec, good value. I’d like to see a review of the Albany super satin, I used it the other day and was very impressed, finish was a bit too Matt for me though. Cheers.
Hi Phil, random question on painting if you don’t mind mate! I’ve been refurbing my first flat and when painting the walls (using valspar tough trade) when I put frog tape on it to line under the ceiling it always takes the paint off the wall, always! No matter what I do. Have you got any specific tapes that work for you and never peel paint off? Thanks Phil, keep up the good work. Looking to paint my black chest of drawers white and I’m debating between Jono Aqua guard and WRX Satinwood based on your videos, I’ll make a choice soon! 👍
easy one, don't tape it... get a decent slash cut brush... and cut it in free hand..... easy the paint so it flow better and work up to the angle .. dront try an dhit it with paint staright way.
Thanks Phil appreciated- can I ask what tape you use when you are taping Doris just for reference? 👍 I’d love to try Benjamin Moore scuff-x but like you said, I just wish they’d do a smaller tin for small jobs so I can try it! Will go with the Jono Aqua guard, Bedec or the WRX satin I think as I only need a smaller tin
3M Extra Sensitive Tape (the pink one) absolutely terrific stuff. But agree with Phil, get a tidy brush, stick some water in your paint and cut freehand if you can.
Think you have got your boxes mixed up. 10mm is red so 5mm must be green? I think you used the 10mm in Portugal on all the doors but in this video the 5mm. Do you prefer the 5mm for woodwork? I do...
Hi guys, According to BJ support ' Chantilly has the highest LRV and so is the whitest, But the super white is the nearest match to Dulux' So I'm confused which one to go with. I'm need to buy some scuffx satin and wondered what BJ White the majority of you decorators go with when you just are doing trim work @ProfessionalPainterDecorator what's your thoughts?
I thought that Chantily white was whiter in store/chart but the lady in brewers felt that super white was. So I’ve been using super white and I’m happy with it. I’ve never had so many comments about how good the doors look just by using this paint.
Two Fussy Blokes are brilliant. And they seem to get better with use.

Here in America they’re stuck on gallons or quarts.pretty dumb naturally but will never change

Just seen your message.
The magnet doesn't hold my brush well with it being oval, it rocks about and falls to one side with the handle being longer.
Best product on the market, absolute GAMECHANGER
Scuff x is “ heaven in a tin “
Ever tried Staalmeester 5mm microfibre roller Phil? Would recommend you check them out, I find they hold more paint than the 2fb equivalent and also the application is as smooth as butter
That's the only thing with the 5mm, you feel you need the amount of paint the 10mm holds lol
Been using 2fb. 5mm today and though it again

You can’t get BM paints in any other brands colours as far as I know.

I find if you brush on then lay off with a dry/clean FB roller, the finish is damn near as flat as possible

the red box says 5mm on it.. green box is 10mm
Portugal the 10mm were ideal with that CIN paint
