Good educational video. It's surprising how uneducated many reviewers are about the flaws of sample & hold displays. A lot of people seem to think that 144hz is all we'll ever need. We need higher HZ and lower MPRT.
Higher hz = lower mprt. Unless you have a good BFI feature to make the motion clarity better. For a 240hz monitor I would recommend using the strobing on 120hz. If you use it on 240hz you will *most likely* get very bad strobe crosstalk which will look disgusting. I really wish they make 240hz-360hz 1440p 27 inch OLED monitors with glossy finish and with good black frame insertion feature. That would be pretty much the " dream gaming monitor " not only for single player games with beautiful graphics but also for competitive games. I think we will see a monitor like that next year, hopefully. Also I am well aware that there is a 240hz 27 inch OLED monitor already for 999$ which is amazing, but it doesn't have a BFI feature and it isn't glossy, those are the 2 main reasons I won't buy it. Also it would be better if it was a QD-Oled ( at least in terms of color accuracy ) apparently QD-Oled has worse dark response times compared to a normal WOLED. Also just to be clear, 1000hz and 1000fps ingame with extremely low GtG, would be considered " perfect motion clarity " that's without any type of strobing feature, but since we are nowhere near 1000hz monitors or even 1000fps ingame, that will not be an option until 2027-2030, that's why Imo a good BFI feature is the most important thing when it comes to OLED gaming monitors.
Could you test a few custom resolutions? 144, 240, and 300 hz using QFT to lower input lag and see if it helps with strobing? Try some ufo tests maybe.. Would be good to know if this can beat the 240 zowie. Otherwise, for many that is a better option...
24 and 27 inch are just different screen sizes, typically you want the smallest if you want the highest pixel density, for some reason people forget pixel density even exists...
A simple test for susceptibility or sensitivity to black frame frame insertion before trying it ,…….. Great analysis for the FPS and kudos for the funny thumbnail! But I've seen competitive gamers playing in 144Hz monitors and others in 240Hz monitors. And guess what: those in 144Hz are better than those in 240Hz. So if you are a bad player, more FPS will not make a big difference. To play better you need time. A lot of time.
Thanks for the comment and I just went with this thumbnail on a whim 🤣 And yes - I can play better on my own 60Hz setup at home because I got used to it.
You're comparing apple to orange and missing the concept. No gears or hardware will make you better. However, you will have a better more pleasant experience simply because it's much smoother game play than 144hz
