I'd say 2, at least...they had a ton of hits from mid 80's to late 90's. I was in middle school(13)when this song came out. Which means the kids in high school loved them. Which means the people who were buying concert tickets were 20-30 years old. In the 90's. I went to high school with went to see Bon Jovi. Aerosmith was the same way, music for 70's teens, 80's teens and then 90-2000's with the Armageddon soundtrack.

Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983. They had a lot of great songs such as "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Bad Medicine", "I'll Be There For You", "Always", "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", "Who Says You Can't Go Home", "Born To Be My Baby", "Lay Your Hands On Me", "Bed Of Roses" "Something For The Pain", "Lie To Me", "These Days", "Blaze Of Glory" & many more.

Hey Dagmar!! I could understand the apathy SalvoG expressed. I found Bon Jovi to be too commercial for my taste. I could skip the whole "hair band" genre & not feel bad about it. They were/are wildly popular & spawned RATT & Poison bands, among others, but each seemed to be all frosting & no cake. I want cake with quality frosting. Hope you are well!

When they first hit the scene, Jon's voice was unmatched. He could easily hit the high notes, and he still had the "grit' in his voice to go along with it. As he's aged, he's had to alter how he sings some of his songs, as he's lost the ability to hit those high notes (Richie Sambora, the long-time guitarist, took over the high stuff), and in recent years Jon's voice has really failed him. But I mean, he's been doing it now for over 40 years, so let's give the guy a break. On another note, you'd think he'd be the ultimate lady's man with his looks and rock-star status, but he's been happily married to his wife Dorothea - who was his high school girlfriend - since 1989 (34 years) and has 4 children with her. He's also a big-time philanthropist with 3 soup kitchens that he opened in Jersey, where people can come in for a meal and pay what they can, or help in the kitchen to pay for it. It's been said that you can catch Jon in the kitchen doing dishes or helping prep the food on his downtime. He's also worked with Habitat for Humanity to build houses in Jersey, and his video for "Who Says You Can't Go Home" (with Jennifer Nettles) shows some of that. In other words, he's just an all-around great rocker and even better human being.

The guitarist in this video is Richie Sambora, who was the co writer of most of the songs with Jon. He was in the band until 2013 and was a huge factor in their success as well as a fantastic singer in his own right.

I wasn't a fan as a kid, but when you really listen to the song (which I couldn't do until I was an adult, I can admit it), it's actually very musical and well-produced. The BASS is what really drives this song. One of the main bass lines I wanted to learn when I first started learning to play.

Jon is even more gorgeous in person. Very fair, taller than me (I am tall) and absolutely beautiful. I encountered him on the sidewalk in my old neighbourhood in the 90s...he was able to just walk down the sidewalk without being chased by fans in Toronto, which was really interesting...I didn't even clue in that it was him until he'd walked past me!

    • @Kayjee17

Jon has a very compelling charisma that he can turn on and off like a light switch - something that most successful entertainers can do - and on both their Slippery When Wet tour and their Bad Medicine tour the whole band gave me my money's worth of a great time. I love their music and the fact that they stood by Ritchie Sambora through multiple stints in rehab until he refused to quit his addictions, but what I love the most is Jon's emphasis on family (shown through his 30+ year marriage) and humanitarianism (shown through many things including his pay-or-help kitchens).

That man was the subject of many of my early teenage dreams 😂 they were heavily influenced by their fellow New Jersey native, Bruce Springsteen. It's good, energetic, wholesome with a smidge of naughtiness, arena rock. Lots of anthems, which lent itself to the opportunity for a lot of audience participation, made their shows so much fun. I got to see them on the "New Jersey" tour (I recommend 'Lay Your Hands On Me'). Jon just wrote about ordinary everyday, working man things, but with such heart and conviction, they were all very relatable. You missed some good stuff, G 😉

Slippery was one of many GREAT albums. A key member of the band was Richie Sambora (talk box) who cowrote the amazing songs with Jon Bon Jovi and who sang beautifully with Jon (Richie joined the band because Jon was an obvious STAR). Richie is an amazing guitarist. You have to try their unplugged stuff with Jon and Richie...Wanted Dead or Aive, Living on a Prayer a very different version. A FAVOURITE band for me along with INXS. What is UNIQUE about the band is that all of the contracts are with Jon Bon Jovi himself and the rest of the band are technically his employees. That put a lot of responsibiities on very young shoulders (Jon was in his early 20s at the time) and Jon has done an incredible job and is now their manager.

This band puts on an amazing show. . The ability to sing so well wow while running all over the stage and jumping, flying through the air, and interacting with the audience is i enough to qualify this band for greatness. My two favorite songs are Wanted Dead or Alive and I'll be there for you. And I was conflicted about narrowing it down to those choices because of my love for all of their songs on music. And I really can't say that about a lot of other bands. If you're ever on a road trip they are perfect to listen to

A friend of mine from college (who looked and sounded just like Jon Bon Jovi) sang it once, and I sang the high harmony with him. Wish I still had that recording. That's my recommendation for your next Bon Jovi reaction.

I became a fan of Bon Jovi because of my aunts. I remember being at my grandparents' house one day when I was probably 4/5 years old, so this was 1984/85. My aunts were in their early 20s then and still lived at home at my grandparents' house. They were watching Mtv and this music video came on and they were sitting on the living room floor being thirsty as hell over Jon Bon Jovi and singing along to this song. I looked up to my young aunts and thought they were cool. So, of course they influenced me and my interest in Bon Jovi. They still love Bon Jovi to this day and they are in their late 50s/early 60s.

Badfinger, mentored by the Beatles were the first in the UK and had some great songs, including Baby Blue, No Matter What, and a song that became a hit for Nilsson and Mariah Carey both - Can't Live (If Living Is Without You). Tragic, tragic story of what happened to them. On this side of the pond, the first Power Pop was the Raspberries and the first PP song was Go All The Way. Everyone reacting to music should hear that. It was important to music. Both bands were. Nick Lowe's Cruel To Be Kind is PP perfection and should also be heard. He was a pioneer in New Wave and produced a lot of records. He also had a great song called What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding which became a big hit for Elvis Costello (whom you should also cover one of these days. Soon.)

Just a bit of Bonjovi history. He was the only one to sign the contract with the label. He signed, and the guys in the band worked for him.

I loved Bon Jovi!! He is still singing! Still dreamy, even without the long hair! ❤ First concert I went to! I bought shirt, it was a baseball type shirt with a pic of him from the shoulders up and I remember my dad asking me who the girl was on my shirt!😂😂 They have sooo many awesome songs, you should definitely do more! I am so glad you enjoyed this one!❤❤

It amazes me that it took the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame till 2018 to put these guys in. My favorite song is "Runaway" on their debut album

Huey Lewis and the News were another 80s group that had a lot of success. In 1986, their album had 6 of the 10 tracks on the top 10.

Yes, this was Richie Sambora's (lead guitar) opus, with the Hiel talk box. He dusted it off after about 5 or 6 years of the talk box being unused in rock.

Saw them when the opened for 38 Special. It was when the Slippery when wet album came out. They blew 38 Special off the stage. Listen to Bed of Roses, Bad Medicine, You give Love a bad name.

Bed of Roses, It's My Life, Wanted Dead or Alive, You Give Love a Bad Name, I'll Be There For You, Bad Medicine, Have A Nice Day, Blaze Of Glory, and Keep the Faith. Then do the rest
    of their songs
